I wholeheartedly recommend La Kuddia. The complex of apartments are very spacious, private and designed in keeping with the surroundings. There are excellent facilities for self catering and whilst it is an excellent base from which to explore the island, it's equally perfect for a relaxing break soaking up the rays by the pool or relaxing in the gardens. Gianfranco's hospitality was incredible; offering tips on where to visit, what to do and showering us with gifts such as his homemade wines, jams and pestos! The location is fantastic, close to amenities such as a great bar, restaurants and minimarket. If you want to visit the enchanting island of Pantelleria, this is the place to stay.
For one, or two weeks at Pantelleria, this is (for me) the only place to stay. Lovely Giusy, mistress of the house, during my visit she was pregnant at the last week. Will Be "female" and best wishes. Him, Gianfranco, is perfect, precise, always available: when he talks he wants to say so many things and will collapse a little every three words, and this is what makes it funny. The location of the Alba (as they call the group of "dammusi" to the east of the island between Khamma and Tracino) is a must see: at the guests' disposal all of the many fruit trees, prickly pears, zibibbo grapes, figs, in addition to what Gianfranco (intentionally) forget in common fridge, as his excellent passito.
La Kuddia is a complex of several independent villas called “dammusi” ( - Dammuso is in fact a typical construction from Pantelleria) immersed in a Mediterranean garden full of palms and cactus, with a large common area that overlooks a pool. We spent almost a week in a dammuso called “a lavatura”. It was magnificently furnished… Every piece of the dammuso has been built and designed by Gianfranco, the owner of the Kuddia resort. The place is easily reachable by car and it is located in a small hill with a great view in the town of Khamma. In Khamma, there are few shops where you can find some food and other basic services. During our stay, Gianfranco and his lovely wife Giusy organized also a nice dinner where all the people who were staying at that time in “la Kuddia”, enjoyed the typical food of Pantelleria like: capers, roasted eggplants and zucchinis, dried tomatoes, cheese and honey, olives, pasta alla pantesca, wine and a sweet wine called passito (really delicious). The event was also a nice Italian way to know the culture, food and traditions of this amazing island. We will always remember pantelleria, la Kuddia, Giusy, Gianfranco and their daughters! Highly recommended to families with small kids too.…
