Detailed Reviews
The hotel is in the most magnificent location in Positano. The roof top pool is to die for. The staff are very helpful. They can answer a lot of questions about your trip that you should contact them before arriving. Parking, porters, ferries etc. They have a fantastic poolside bar so that our routine was to shop and walk in the mornings and then crash by the pool on the warm afternoons. The breakfast that is included is fantastic. We typically skipped lunch the breakfast was so scrumptious. The hotel is literally 100 yards from the ferry and boat dock so that you can easily catch a ferry or boat to Capri or Amalfi. We loved it so much that we are spending our next wedding anniversary there!

We chose Covo dei Saraceni as most of our activities involved boating, shopping and dining at a specific location and this hotel provided the best access to all of that and more. We rented a small suite with a balcony overlooking the sea and it truly exceed all expectations. This isn't the most modern updated hotel but the location, amenities and staff more than make up for the simple style of the hotel. The front desk staff, specifically Roberto, were amazing fulfilling every request, the breakfast included was truly extraordinary with an options for eggs to order at no extra charge. The pool deck and bar are absolutely the best but we didn't have much of an opportunity to use it as our stay was only a few days. The bartender Francisco was the example of true hospitality. This is my go to as we visit the Amalfi coast every few years. Be aware you cannot drive to this hotel, you have to walk from the main road and you need to schedule a porter to bring your bags from the drop off point to the hotel. You other option is to arrive by boat charter or ferry from Naples where the the dock is right outside the hotel door.

My wife and I previously stayed here for our honeymoon and checked in last week 20 years later, to the day, for a 4 night stay. The views are amazing, all staff were exceptional, the pool was great and the food very good. If big, thick, fluffy towels in modern bathrooms is your thing then go and stay at a Marriott in Idaho. Covo is quirky and has a slightly old fashioned, even decadent, vibe but is so much the better for it. It is a unique hotel in an iconic location, perfectly positioned for ambling round the town or across the beach. Look forward to returning again and will not leave it so long next time.

This is NOT a 5 star hotel. It has dated rooms. Antique bathrooms. The shower is terrible. The general appearance is worn out / tired. Staff are rude ( except for restaurant).
Paying £700 per night with thin worn out towels, no free water in room, cheap shampoos ( thank heavens we brought our own) , poor breakfast room, told off for putting a bottle of water on our table, charged €10 per small bag to move it 300m up to a car park, told we couldn’t take olives to our room, no turndown service, can hear the guys above us going to the toilet ( I dare not explain further!) and hear everything the people next door say when in their bathroom ….where do I stop?
Food and service in restaurant excellent. Guys were fun and engaging 5/5
Pool and staff there are good 5/5
Views good and interesting watching the boats 5/5
You pay here for location but if you want 3* this is it.
5 * is at La Sereuse which is up the hill road and a Leading Hotel of the World.
It’s more expensive but so much better. The staff there are trained, courteous and professional.
Management at Covo can’t complain. I am just writing the truth.
Definitely not coming back to Covo.

If you want beautiful views and arrive by ferry, you can’t beat the location. It’d be a further hike down the hill if you arrive by car. If you like a quaint hotel with character, also can’t beat that. The hotel is definitely dated though and hasn’t been updated in years.
However, we paid about $1800/night for very spotty service. When it comes to a 5 star hotel, service is one area that I have high expectations. I don’t expect to be treated like royalty, but I do expect human decency. The front desk employees were wonderful and very helpful. However, we had a poor experience with other employees. Here are a couple of examples:
1. First morning we came down for breakfast and ordered an omelet at the omelet bar. The next day we came down for breakfast and showed up again at the omelet bar. The employee barked at us to sit down and we couldn’t order there. We were a little shocked at how curt he was. We didn’t know better, and, honestly, it’s not that hard to say it politely.
2. We went down for dinner at the outdoor restaurant where they serve pizza. No one else was out there. We went to sit down at one of the tables and one of the employees yelled at us to go sit down at a 2 person table. Hardly anyone else showed up. Zero shortage on tables but again, could have said this nicely.
3. On our last morning, we grabbed a tiny snack bag of cookies on our way out. We had reached the elevator when an employee went out of his way to chase us down and yelled at us for taking a 2 ounce snack pack. I almost started laughing but was also just unbelievably shocked and pissed off that they would run down the hall to yell at us (in front of other hotel guests). He was so loud! Sorry that we paid $7000 for the hotel and can’t take a 50 cent bag on a long way back home. Also, we were checking out so did they really need to go out of the way to reprimand guests?
Basically, I would never ever recommend this hotel unless you’re just there for the view. It’s a 4 star at best and the service is a 2. The price is too expensive for inconsistent experiences with employees. I’d highly recommend Il San Pietro di Positano (which we also tried) as that’s a true 5 star - wonderful experience there and amazing employees.

We stayed at the hotel recently and it’s a fine place to stay, but extremely loud throughout the entire night because of its location on the beach. All of the late night spots are along the beach and after hours groups of people street party on the wharf (immediately beside the hotel) and beach (also immediately beside).
On top of that noise there are sanitation staff stockpiling glass bottles until 1am and starting again at 6am. Imagine the sound of tossing garbage bags full of glass bottles right outside your window while either after you’ve fallen asleep or before you wake up (or both).
There is a 5 euro charge per person for the pool. It’s way worth it because the pool is the best part of this hotel, but they don’t tell you and just put it on the bill.
You do however get free water each day in your room which was appreciated.
Overall, you’re paying a premium rate only for the location… the hotel is fine, staff is great, but it’s just a very noisy place to stay and your sleep can suffer because of it.

This hotel might have once been a 5-star accommodation, but that was long ago. The location can't be beaten, but the rest leaves much to be desired. Dated rooms, rough towels, thin pillows - nothing in this hotel makes it feel like a luxury accommodation. The tone and communication by the staff (front desk and at breakfast) were curt and unaccommodating. Our check-in was good and the staff was helpful on occasion, but the overall sentiment and service left much to be desired. We visited Casa Angelina while there and it was in such sharp contrast where the staff went out of their way to meet our needs.

Covo dei Saraceni was amazing from the start. After navigating a short walk from the parking garage where our driver stopped (a Porter carried our luggage to the hotel for 10 Euros per piece), we checked in at the front desk. The staffer walked us to our room and showed us inside our Junior Suite Deluxe—I think the property has four rooms of this type but they do vary; as it was our honeymoon we requested during the booking process to get the room with the jetted spa on the patio, and we were in luck! (Room 43, highly recommend!) This room has a gorgeous private patio with lounge chairs and a small table, and a small private hot tub overlooking the ocean. The room itself was beautifully updated with a king size bed and nice sitting area. The AC and blackout shades helped us catch up on sleep! Fresh flowers (orchids) in the room were unexpected and such a nice touch. They also gave us a free bottle of Prosecco and a handwritten thank you note from the family owners for choosing them for our honeymoon. Breakfast each day was very good, and they catered to American-style food (egg whites and skim milk available). The servers at breakfast were incredibly kind. Turn down service nightly was a nice bonus in helping straighten the room twice a day. The only thing I missed was a coffee maker in the room—we would have loved to have an espresso on the patio each morning before going down to breakfast.

Location of the hotel is excellent and our vacation could have been exceptional unless in the last day, shortly before a checkout, during a breakfast time, when our luggage was already packed some valuable goods would not disappear.
I have traveled a lot and I am well aware that Italy is famous for robbing tourists but for that to take place at 5-star hotel, is simply unacceptable.
In order to solve this situation, staff and management of the hotel even do not respond to e-mails and are very unpleasant during phone calls.
I would not recommend this hotel if You do not want to spoil your relaxation at beautiful Positano!

It was a disappointing experience given the spectacular views from the restaurant and terrace.
The rooms are large, simple but clean and adequate. The staff rather brusque, unapproachable and unfriendly. They do the minimum what is ask and no more.
The restaurant has stunning views but my wife and I sent our main meal back. It looked so awful. The rib of lamb was grey and inedible and the whole plate unappetising. The response was muted and unapologetic. Despite the views I can't recommend it at all
Choose a hotel with a sun terrace and pool as the beach at Polignano is rough despite the picture postcard image
The hotel and town need to up their game!

I used WiFi just to look up sites, restaurants, etc and it wasn’t a problem for me. I did not do any video calls.
We took a private boat to Capri, it was amazing
Parking is very difficult in Positano. You can only drive to a certain area atop the hill and then you’ll have to walk down and then back up. That’s where all the parking is. You will see several “parking areas/lots” that are typically packed and even trying to get out of them is tough as they are all “fairly small.” The traffic itself just to park (in my personal opinion) isn’t worth it. You could always be braver than me and try it! I’ve been there twice and the wait to park always seemed to be “too much” for me. Regardless if you were to drive there, get a taxi, or take a boat, it’s all up and down hill. If you’re going to Covo - it’s at the bottom of the hill and you’ll have to walk there regardless. I hope this helps and I hope you enjoy!!! It’s BEAUTIFUL! Any other questions please feel free!
