We highly recommend staying here during your visit to Positano. Giovanni and his family will treat you like family in their small hotel. They keep it spotless. The rooms are spacious with amazing views. Breakfast is homemade and delicious. True it is not in the heart of Positano but Giovanni will take you downtown in his car if you need.

My wife and I spent 4 nites at Al Barilotto Del Nonno in early October. Giovanni and Rachelli are wonderful hosts of what is classified as a hotel, but is really a home away from home. We were welcomed with a hug upon arrival as if they had known us their entire lives. Giovanni and Rachelli serve a special breakfast each day (the capucinno's are wonderful), shuttle you to Positano, arrange restaurants for dinner, arrange for the restaurants to pick you up, and greet you with a "nightcap", if you so desire, upon your return.. This place is warm, clean, comfortable and inviting. I cannot say enough great things about Giovanni and Rachelli (and their sone Mossimo). Without hesitation we would stay at Al Barilotto Del Nonno if and when we return to Positano.

We have had such a wonderful stay with Giovanni and his family. This is a true Italian company handed down over the past 47 years and all staff are members of the same family. So far we have stayed in Rome, Sorrento and Capri during our stay in Italy and this was by far our favourite hotel. The room is clean, bright and with an incredible view over the sea. It is the most nicely decorated room we stayed in despite staying in some of the chain hotels in other areas. Breakfast is lovely and there is a good range of choice. It is served on the terrace overlooking the sea. You can tell so much love and attention has been given to the design and maintenance of this hotel. I had reservations about staying outside of Positano however this isn’t a problem. The bus stops right outside the hotel and the last bus is 23.40 from Positano. The cost of the bus is €1.30. It is also in a great position for accessing Priano and Amalfi which is from the same bus stop. Most people seem to travel out of Positano as the prices are so high. The heart and soul in this hotel is the biggest reason to book to stay here. It is an experience in itself and it a great way of experiencing an Italian family’s hospitality. After staying here I have also realised how important it is to support local businesses whilst staying on the Amalfi coast as it seems to be dying out due to big companies taking over. Huge thanks to the Giovanni and his family.

My friend and I stayed here for three nights in August. Giovanni was an amazing host. Thank you for your kindness and hospitality. Each morning we where treated to a beautifully decorated breakfast table with a selection of homegrown fruit and range of breakfast options. The rooms are modern and very clean with beautiful views of the sea and yachts! For two friends travelling it was lovely to come home each night and feel safe. Giovanni was always checking we had a good evening and often drove us into Positano. Giovanni recommended IL Pino for dinner and we had the best table in the house - amazing! The views from the rooftop are beautiful and after a hot day at the beach there is no better way to cool down than the outdoor waterfall shower. We will be back! 🙂
