This is a nice place and really gives value for money. However before you book please note the following : Pro’s : - On the more quiet side of Positano. Fornillo beach. It is an advantage but could be seen as a disadvantage by some : you have to walk 15 minutes to the town center. - If you book one of the top (3rd ) floor rooms you have a lovely view - Free good WiFi, small fridge in room, safe for valuables. - Good value for money. This view and location in Positano usually cost much more. Con’s - The lady who runs the place seems like she doesnt really have the energy or enthusiasm to run such a venture. Not that she was unpleasant or something like that, but this is the impression we had. Reactions to emails was very slow. - The decor is really outdated. - The furniture in our balcony was old, not well maintained and almost fell apart. - The breakfast is basic but OK, however you can only order it from 09:00 AM and not before. - There is no information in the room about the place, recommendations, tips, or any instructions whatsoever. All-in all a nice location and amazing views and good value for money. Pity that the owner does not give a little more attention to details. small touches could make this place so much better. I think we will be back, if only to see if our recommendations were followed…

Perfect spot to enjoy the beauty of Positano! Fornillo beach is beautiful and less crowded. Great location with easy access to the main part of town by a path along the coast. Very “non touristy” spot in the best way! Room was beautiful, views were incredible and Maryse went above and beyond to make sure we had a fantastic stay! Highly recommend!!

This was our second stay at La Dolce Vita, both times for girls trips. Our first trip was 3 years ago and we were only there for 2 nights and have regretted that ever since. For our 40th birthday trip we decided a revisit was in order while touring other parts of Europe. As soon as we decided to go back, booking at La Dolce Vita was the only option, we didn't even bother looking elsewhere as we enjoyed it so much last round. Maryse and her place is amazing, both times we stayed the rooms were spacious, clean, had wonderful views and patios to enjoy. I'd love to make it back again and when I do, I already know where I'll stay! Tip: Maryse arranged our driver to/from Naples and the porter (we paid them both directly). Well worth it and appreciated!

My husband and I just stayed here for our honeymoon. We requested a top floor room with a nice balcony - and that's just what we got! The balcony felt private and had a great view of the beach. We noticed a lot of ants on the balcony the first day and Maryse (owner) took care of them the next day. The room was clean and spacious. The bathroom had a nice shower with good pressure. Maryse is the manager/owner met us when we arrived. She offered us a glass of wine and helped us get the lay of the land. She told us about a short cut that was AMAZING and saved a lot of walking up & down stairs to get to the center of Positano. Be aware that there is no concierge, but Maryse helped us schedule a car to the airport and a porter for our luggage. Be sure to book the porter at least 1 day prior to your arrival & departure. My husband and I carried our luggage down, but we happily paid 30 euro for a porter to carry it up. There are about 400 stairs! The walk to Fornillo beach was just 90 stairs - which was the main reason we booked this hotel. Maryse gave us a card each morning to have breakfast at Ferdinando's. It was included with the hotel cost. During our stay, Maryse also brought us a bottle of champagne. Overall it was a great stay and being close to the beach was a major plus for us. Getting to the main part of Positano wasn't a problem with the short cut. We would stay here again.

We booked this last minute as we were traveling around Europe by car, and after the struggle of 300 steps in the heat (carrying our own luggage - we were in quite good shape, but still...), we arrived to the most specacular view of the amalfi coast, a wonderful, spacious room, and most importantly: a great, modern and clean bathroom - great shower! The view from the room was definitely instagram friendly :) The owner, a french lady, was very personal and welcoming, and even brought us a free bottle of wine at our arrival, and we chatted for a while. We spoke english and a bit of italian, before discovering that she was french, and as I've lived in France, continued in french, and english to include my husband. We couldn't believe our luck at finding this gem at this low (comparably) price in Positano. We wanted to stay longer, and the owner informed us that since our room was booked the next days, we then had to change room. No problem. This turned out to be the end of our stay in paradise... The downstairs rooms were very damp, a horrible smell you that no open windows or anything could remedy. The interior was in bad taste, old furniture in bright colours, and trying to be extravagant - but not succeeding - like an old lady's banished castle in some horror movie. And the bathroom was horrible, the shower not working very well, and the whole floor getting wet from a normal shower. Disgusting! We needed more toilet paper during our stay, and could not get a hold of the owner or anyone neither in the morning, after lunch or in the evening. We were very patient, understanding that this was not a 24h service place - but if your not going to be available, at least leave enough toilet paper rolls for your guests. During our stay, we heard the owner talking about other guests, complaining that they were "difficult", we heard her speaking on the phone in an annoyed and angry tone on a couple of occations. It seemed a bit disorganized, and chaotic. We would stay again, but ONLY if we were guaranteed the top floor rooms only. This is because staying in our top floor room was one of the beste hotel experiences we had on our trip - and we traveled around Italy for a few weeks, and stayed in many great places - but the bottom floor room was a horrible experience, and should be avoided at all costs. Amazing place and great value on the top floor roooms if you can live without much service while staying and are independent travelers ;) -Note: out stay the first two nights was a 5-star rating experience, and the other nights in the bottom floor rooms was a 1 or 2 star rating experience.
