We recently had our wedding and 4 night stay with our families at Villa Oliviero. We loved every minute of our experience and only regret not booking the full week stay. We received the highest level of professionalism and service during our visit. Alice was incredibly helpful with everything planning and logistics-related prior to and during the stay, and she never seemed to get frustrated or tired with our back and forth emailing and zoom calls. On arrival, we had immediate assistance from several staff members to help with luggage, give us a tour of the facilities, etc. We had multiple events (cooking class, brunch, welcome event for 80, wedding for 80) which all went seamlessly thanks to the amazing staff who truly seemed to enjoy the events. We were also blown away by the food at all events, and had several guests say the pasta at the wedding dinner was the best they had throughout their entire trip throughout different parts of Italy! We would like to also shout out Genarro, who was the go-to person for our week for any requests, big or small. He was always there to help with a smile, even when what we were asking for may have been unreasonable. His presence was very calming. We already look forward to returning to the villa which I am sure we will do in the upcoming years. Thank you for a truly magical week!

I very rarely write a review BUT Villa Oliviero is too amazing to keep it a secret any longer! I went there from NY for my Goddaughter’s wedding. EVERYTHING was SPECTACULAR!
The location, the staff, the service- truly a dream come true! Nello, one of the owners helped us every step of the way. They send you prompt replies to ANY questions or concerns. The staff could not do enough for you once you are there. The accommodations are comfortable and beautiful.
Even if you are not having a wedding or special event this is an amazing place to stay!
Nello I could never thank you enough for all your help and for making Jessica and Peter’s wedding the most spectacular day ever!!!
If you are going to Positano try and book a stay at Villa Oliviero

Villa Oliviero is unlike any other villa on the Amalfi coast. We stayed here with our closest friends and family for our wedding that took place here as well. It was the best week of all of our lives! Not just because the views are incredible and the villa is stunning but the staff makes you feel like family. Gennaro went above and beyond to accommodate our every need. Everyone at the villa is warm, generous and kind. My wedding was beyond my wildest dreams, The food, service, bar, wedding planner and all her recommendations (Alice) was OUTSTANDING! I cried when it came time to leave because I felt like family. Thank you Villa Oliviero for the indelible memories. We can not wait to come back!

I had a terrible experience with Alice and Nello Oliviero and want to warn anyone I can before they get stuck in a similar situation.

I booked the entire villa, including the two annexes, for a five day wedding venue from April 11-16, 2022. When Italy fell into a Level 4: Covid-19 Lockdown, and with over 8 month's notice, I tried to get my deposit back. Obviously, international travel was off the table for the forseeable future, as this lockdown effected flights, quarantine restrictions, and most importantly the health and safety of our guests.

Alice and Nello refused to return any portion of the deposit, as well as lied about reopening my dates for a potential new reservation (pictures attached). Months later after being caught in a lie, he just now unblocked my intended dates, all while keeping my entire deposit, knowing the wedding is no longer happening.

The first screenshot is from March 8th, 2022, right before I emailed Nello asking why our dates were still "blocked". The second screenshot is from today, March 24th, 2022, after he replied to my email saying the dates have been open all along.

I hope someone finds this useful. There are many other beautiful places to book in Positano where the owners are decent humans.

Response from Nello Oliviero, Direttore generale at Villa Oliviero
Responded 29 Mar 2022
Good morning Ms Davee We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience occurred and we would like to make all reasonable efforts to make this clear and help anybody avoid such situation. Two terrible seasons put all of us and the people working with us in a difficult situation and we had to upgrade then our rental agreement with new Covid policy to protect both our guests and ourselves from such a terrible situation. We have of course clear but strict cancellation policy, which we honor as well. At that time of your cancellation, from September to October 2021, we hosted various guests from US, UK, Belgium etc., because border and frontier were clearly open and no quarantine was required. In such situation, no refund was due for cancellation for personal reason. Of course, we are sorry to hear the reason that put you in the situation to cancel, but we wish to treat all our customers fairly and respect all of our guests that honored the contract in similar situations. We will keep working and making all reasonable efforts to help people with their vacation in Positano. With warm regards, Nello and Alice

The villa and the view is amazing but our experience was spoiled with the many hidden charges for services that should be standard. My best advice would be to check into a hotel. The view may not be as nice but at least you will feel confident about the service you are getting and what you are paying for.

A few of the things that soured our experience are listed below:

1) You are not given a key but ring a doorbell to enter. I didn't mind this except after 4pm the staff mysteriously disappear and you need to rely on other guests to let you in. This is very inconvenient especially if you want to go out for dinner.

2) There is only one staff member present who speaks English and he is hard to find and leaves early. This was particularly frustrating as we had the villa booked for 5 nights and one of our guests left a day early. The staff promptly locked the room and would not open the door. We looked for the English speaking staff member to help us explain the situation but he could not be found. We wanted to use the room because my mother had the flu and did not want to share a room with my father and pass on the flu to him.

3) The staff are happy to help with your requests but will charge you for everything. The staff also tell you not to bring drinks or wine to the villa from outside, probably so you have to drink their drinks and they can overcharge you for that too. You are handed a bill at the end which almost feels like a complete fabrication - huge charges for services that are standard in any other accommodation.

4) The rooms are well maintained but the other amenities such as the spa and pizza oven. The spa water smelled like it needed to be changed and the pizza oven was filthy inside. Using the pizza oven would risk getting food poisoning, not to mention additional charges.

5) We celebrated our wedding at the villa which was a nice event, however when the wedding staff left, they took all the food and wine. This was food and wine we had paid a great deal for. This bugged me a lot as I was charged 250 euros for additional wine, which was now being consumed by someone else. The staff were insisting that they could cook more food for dinner and open another bottle of wine for us, but we would be charged for this of course.

To summarise, the villa is beautiful and you will no doubt enjoy yourself while you are there but the bill at the end will greatly sour your experience and clean out your wallet no matter how careful you are.

I had my wedding here. We rented the villa for the entire week. I can honestly say it was the best week of my life. Alice Oliviero will make your dreams come true. I'd like to respond to some of the comments below which are factually incorrect.

First, we had a pizza party in the pizza oven. An amazing chef came to prepare something like 50 pizzas. We did this as our "rehearsal dinner" and it was an idea given to us by the staff here which was wonderful. You cannot get food poisoning from a pizza oven. The oven gets up to 800 degrees. Not to mention the pizza is fantastic.

We used the hot tub and found absolutely no problems with it.

The staff does not speak English well, but hey you're in Italy. If you want perfect English then have your wedding in the States. Don't have it here, but it's completely unfair to rate a villa in Italy on how well the staff can speak your native language.

Yes, there are charges for things. But how awesome is it to have a live-in cook who can prepare amazing food for you whenever you want? The price is comparable to dining out. It's also Positano which is not a cheap place to vacation. If you come here to this stunning place you pay for the experience. The person below clearly wanted to live the fabulous life but wasn't prepared to pay for it. Also, we had no problems keeping our own wine and food in the kitchen. The second thing that was shown to us when we got there was our own refrigerator where we were welcomed to keep anything we wanted.

In addition, we did not have any problems getting in to the villa. We had our guests coming and going at all hours of the day and night and not once had a problem getting back in! And yes there are something like 300 stairs from the main road, but that's how you get this paradise in the sky. The staff helped us with our bags and sweated through their shirts to help us with everything. In fact, I felt so close to the staff that I invited them to the dance portion of our wedding. Of course they declined, but they are the sweetest people and will no doubt bend over backwards for you.

If you are looking for a truly incredible and magical experience, especially for your wedding, come to Villa Oliviero. They treated us like royalty and even though we only had 15 people at our event, they took every detail so seriously.

Stay here and you will be able to die happy. All of my wildest dreams came true and I had the best week of my life. My new husband and I can't wait to one day bring our children here to show them this paradise in the sky. The pictures on the website don't do it justice and the view...WOW. Just wow.

We just recently returned from our one week stay at Villa Oliviero in Positano. Not only did we stay in the Villa with family and friends, but we also had our wedding there...and it was absolutely nothing short of AMAZING! An absolute dream come true.

Before getting into too much detail, on top of the the sheer beauty that is Villa Oliviero, there is an additional extremely important element - the people. Upon arrival, Nello, the Villa's owner was there to walk us through the entire place. He was extremely gracious, friendly and accommodating. We saw him several times over the span of the week always working hard to ensure that we were comfortable and happy. He's a great guy and wonderful host. The Villa would certainly not have been the same without some other very important people who also work there - Genarro, Vincenzo, Alina and Ibrahim. We miss them as much as we miss Positano. They are wonderful, genuine people. Genarro and Vincenzo are so helpful - there at all times with a smile and helpful hand. They took extremely good care of all of us staying at the Villa. We can call them friends now. And Alina, the cook, is spectacular. From the most basic bites to the most elaborate of dinners, her food is delicious - on par with even the best restaurants in town. Ibrahim also took very good care of us, helping us whenever we needed anything. And again, always with a smile.

We used all six rooms in the Villa. Each room has an amazing view of Positano and the sea (apart from one room which is located near the living room, but it is still a beautiful room). The living and dining area is great as well, but you really end up spending the majority of your time on the three different terraces. The top terrace is jaw dropping - a great place to have your dinners (and where we had our wedding dinner reception). The lower red terrace is also beautiful and offers comfy seating and a hammock (where we had our wedding ceremony). And of course the lowest level terrace which has a beautiful pool, sauna and pizza oven (where we held our wedding rehearsal dinner). The pizza they make in this oven is hands down some of the best pizza you will ever taste - the majority of our 70+ guests agreed. Especially the nutella pizza - wow!

The upkeep of the Villa is incredible. Everything works as it should. The beds are comfortable. The amenities are well taken care of. Alina makes sure to keep the entire home and all the rooms in perfect condition. Because it was our wedding week we were quite busy at times and kept a somewhat irregular schedule - but this did not stop Alina from always finding a way to tidy our rooms, even when it felt like we were barley gone for 15 minutes. The service was just fantastic.

Yes, there are many steps to reach the Villa, but this is Positano - there are steps everywhere. The town is perched on a bluff. The Villa, the people who work there and the views are well worth the walk.

As for the wedding details - the Villa took care of everything in coordination with our wedding planners (www.theamalfiexperience.com - they were also great and we will post a review for them). The Villa provided catering and drinks for both the wedding and rehearsal dinner. Food can often be hit or miss at weddings when you have a large party - but our multiple course wedding dinner was applauded by all our guests - it was extremely tasty for both meat and fish.

It is really difficult to describe our experience in words. Obviously it was amazing because it was our wedding and we shared it with so many friends and family. But it just would not have been the same anywhere other than Villa Oliviero - it is a very special place. Pictures don't do it justice - you can't photograph the kindness and service provided by Nello, Gennaro, Vincenzo, Alina and Ibrahim (there are more people as well but we couldn't get all their names). I can't say enough how great they all were - it made our trip. And we will most certainly go back to Villa Oliviero, very soon.

We'd like to thank the entire Villa for everything - our hearts and minds are still in Positano. We had the best week at Oliviero and took away the most incredible memories. Thank you again Villa Oliviero!

Believe the gorgeous shots on the website. Killer views, beautiful terraces, and a bilingual staff that would bend over backwards to help. Plus how cool is it having your own pizza oven for your own pizza party? The pool is unheated, the rooms are perhaps a tad on the plain side, and you do need to be able to walk uphill and up steps to reach the villa. (Staff will meet you further down the hill with a great golf cart/tractor to bring up your bags if you need assistance, though.) But wow, is it worth it. Rent the whole place out for a private party, a family gathering, a seminar or retreat — but don't expect to get much work done, as your guests will be drooling over the views of the town, the beach and the bay.

Given the choice, why would you want to be in the tourist-filled crowds in town when you could be relaxing here, above it all, anyway?

My Husband and I got married at Villa Oliviero July 27th, 2017. We stayed the week with our Wedding Party and made full use of this Magnificent Villa. I've been traveling to Positano for 13 years and got engaged there. So when it was time to pick a place to get married, Positano was hands down our destination. I had seen Villa Oliviero online and thought this would be a perfect place for a wedding. And indeed it was! 2 important things...First, The Oliviero Family has perfected the art of throwing amazing events. And it's truly a family affair. The day of the wedding, Alice, Nello, their Father, Mother and Aunt were there to insure all went well. Nello and Alice were at our disposal for any questions or concerns we had. They really know what they are doing. Second, their staff (Especially Gennaro the house manager and concierge/my left hand) is absolutely incredible. He had my back at all times. During the week and especially during our special events. The villa runs so well because of him. We had 72 guests at our wedding. It was orchestrated beautifully from the guest welcome to the ceremony, cocktail reception, dinner, cake cutting and party. The villa is large enough to accommodate bigger groups but still feels intimate. The Food was outstanding from a chef they bring from Naples and the service was on point. We also hosted a pizza party the night before for 65 people. The same chef came and made us the most outrageous delicious pizza hot out of the pizza oven located on the pool terrace. There were the traditional margherita and pepperoni as well as vegetable, ricotta and lemon zest (my fav) and to finish a nutella pizza for desert that was unbelievably good! Both events were a huge success and our guests are still talking about what a great time they had in Positano and at our Wedding. The one thing I will tell you is the villa is very high up above city center. It's 180 steps up from the main road. But I promise once you're there, it's worth every step. I felt like a princess and my husband like a king during our special week and especially on our Wedding Day. We had such a wonderful time. We want to go back and do it all over again!
