. Hotel Buca di Bacco is located in the heart of Positano in prime sea front position on the beach of Marina Grande, it is the ideal spot to experience the magical atmosphere of the place. It is an historical Hotel and Restaurant and dates back approximately to the 1920, today it looks very different from how it did at the beginning of the century. The hotel, which owes its origins to the old tavern is constantly keeping up with the changing times, the classic and plain decor was designed to offer a comfortable and pleasant atmosphere, the rooms have a sea view with either a small balcony or terrace, or a little garden. Among our services, Cooking Classes are available in our Restaurant and offers the opportunity to learn our regional cooking style. Once inside the hotel, the welcoming ambience will allow you to relax and unwind as the eager yet courteous hotel staff aim to please even the most demanding of customers.

- Great location - Easy access to beach - Cleaner left my room unsecured for an extended period of time, creating security risk for my stuff - Service was poor and abrupt, with poor customer engagement

We just recently stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and could not have been happier!!! We had a sea view room with a private terrace and the views were stunning! The staff was very nice and welcoming to us from start to finish. We even had our anniversary dinner at their restaurant and they were so accommodating they gave us a corner window seat so we could enjoy the sunset!! The food at the restaurant was some of the best we had throughout Italy!! I would definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to visiting again!!

I recently stayed at Hotel Buca Di Bacco after seeing all the positive reviews. The view and location is great, but everything else about the hotel is far from it. Firstly, the hotel and rooms are run-down. I paid in advance for the minibar in our room, but the refrigerator (which must have been about 50 years old) wasn’t working. When I complained to the young guy at the front desk, he told me the fridge was working correctly and “minibar fridges” don’t get as cold as normal fridges. They didn’t fix the fridge or refund my money, instead tried to tell me there was no problem. I was stunned. The drinks I had paid for were warm - not cold at all. They didn’t even bother sending someone to my room to check on it. I travel a lot and have never been treated like that by any reputable hotel in the world. If you decide to stay at this garbage hotel despite my review, do not pay for the minibar in advance. Then there were the “welcome drinks”. When we checked-in, we were told to go to the otherwise lovely terrace at the back of the hotel facing the beach between 5pm and 7pm for a free welcome drink. My partner and I went at 6:30pm and were refused service by Francesco - who said it was too late and they were getting ready for dinner. He was not only rude about it, but completely unapologetic. Again, later in the evening I complained to the young guy at the reception. Same deal. He pulled out a copy of the little voucher we were given when we checked in and started telling me the drinks were only until 7pm (despite me very clearly stating we arrived at the terrace at 6:30pm - the window for the drinks was a single hour apparently!). So in short, great view but otherwise run-down rubbish hotel. I can suffer that normally, but the fact the staff were some of the most rude and arrogant I’ve encountered at any hotel in the world really added injury to insult.

My husband and I were fortune to find Hotel Buca Di Bacco in Positano. The family run hotel has the perfect location on the beach and stunning balcony views from our room. Breakfast was delicious and the service excellent. The terrace for breakfast and drinks has such a beautiful view of the water we could not resist sitting outside. The hotel is spotless and the staff is hands on. We had the pleasure of meeting Giuseppe a family member and had such a great conversation. Giuseppe is so hands on and such a great asset to the hotel. Thank you Giuseppe for your friendship during our stay and for having such a beautiful hotel the best in Positano!

The room was fill of bugs when got back from touring the city. The management was called very many times the first night we stayed. All the useless night manager did was make excuses and sent the poor bell man up with a dyson vacuum multiple times after the swarm had gotten big enough and he vacuumed the bugs up. Then he would leave and 5 minutes later the swarm would return. This happened multiple times throughout the night. Don’t stay here and pay 700 euro per night to be swarmed by bugs in your room with management staff who just don’t care. These pictures show whatever kind of insects. Hard headed, uncooperative staff refuses to take accountability for the bug problem in the hotel.

Response from Salvatore Rispoli, Proprietario at Hotel Buca di Bacco

A BUGS SWARM IN A BACARDI BOTTLE……. Sorry, I know this review will last forever so…….., this is our account on what it happened! We received this reservation on February 7th. 2020 and we have kept the prepaid deposit during all the COVID pandemic period replying by email to more than 28 messages enquiring about the status of the booking. Upon the arrival everything was fine and in order but at 2:00 AM in the morning the concierge received a strange telephone call for bugs swarm in the room. The time to inform also the owner and organize ouselves to go up in the room accompanied by the guest. When we arrived in the room armed like Ghostbusters from the movie and ready to fight against swarms of insects everywhere the only thing we noted entering in the room was a strong smell of rum, an empty bottle of Bacardi on a table and finally near the night lamp of the bed a few tiny fruit flies that we have easily eliminated! The two photos posted by the guest can give the correct idea of how ridiculous was the problem. Disgracefully our biggest problem was trying to calm the guest who was becoming to be aggressive threatening us for writing a very bad review and shouting so loud in the room and in the hotel to wake-up all the people sleeping in the adjacent rooms, only his fiancèe was indifferent to his shouts and remaining in the bed trying to sleep with her head under the sheets. The only thing to do for us was trying to calm the guest who luckily after an hour of discussion began to be more calm giving us the possibility to recover from a very stressing night leaving the room with the conviction for having done our best to tranquillize the guest. Thanks Folks, that’s all!

What a lovely hotel with breathtaking views! I booked a view room but could not reserve that room for my first night. The non-view room was still nice, but the view room is absolutely worth the price! If you are going to Positano, get the view room! The location is ideal. Definitely book the porter service if arriving or departing via car. Arriving isn't as bad as it's downhill, but the cobblestones are tricky, and there are almost always crowds in the summer, but departing would be a must. If arriving/departing via ferry, you can potentially transport your own bags, but you must be able to take them up and down some stairs. The staff was wonderful, I especially wanted to say thank you to Mariachiara, Salvatore and Catello (helped with breakfast); they all had exceptional customer service! Breakfast was included in our rate; it was outstanding every morning and was served on the terrace overlooking the ocean, a really amazing start to each day. I would strongly recommend this hotel and would absolutely book it again!

My husband and I stayed here for five nights… Tonight is the last night and I wanted to write a review of how wonderful this hotel is! The location is perfect, the staff is more than accommodating, the breakfast and the food are so yummy, and our room is perfect! They do a turn down service at night time it’s really nice to to refresh the towels and everything. Everywhere is so easy to get to from this hotel. We had stayed in Capri prior to coming here and it just took us about five minutes to walk from the ferry to the hotel. I would highly recommend staying here if you’re coming to Positano! A 10 out of 10 experience!

What a dream! This hotel is absolutely beautiful and in the best location. We only had two nights and I wish we had more time as we loved the charm and history of this hotel. I would stay here again and would recommend this hotel to everyone to stay.
