Hotel La Bougainville was not just a hotel, it was an experience, a truly amazing one! Not only were we made to feel safe during these unsettling times of COVID-19, but Geovani and his staff were extremely helpful and courteous for setting up trips and giving us endless amounts of recommendations.
Upon our arrival, we were greeted by Geovani and given some simple requests to protect ourselves and others (wear our mask until we enter our room and use hand sanitizer before entering the building) super easy and made us feel extremely safe.
After checking in, they had taken us to our room, which was perfect! It was super clean and tidy. Every morning, we were given a delicious breakfast full of meats,cheeses, pastries, yogurt, coffee, juice and water . While what we were given was more than enough, I’m sure we could have asked for more. After breakfast, we would head to the beach, which was a short 5-10 minute walk depending on how many stores you stop in or how fast you walk.
The team set up our day trip on a boat from Positano to Capri. It was a great tour and we had an amazing day (on board we had endless amounts of beer, soda and water). Overall, our stay at Hotel La Bougainville was seamless, relaxing and we couldn’t have asked for better hosts. If we ever get the chance to come back, we know exactly where we are staying! A big thank you to Geo and everyone at Hotel La Bougainville for making our trip an unforgettable one.

This is THE place to stay in the Amalfi Coast. This hotel is in the absolute best location. It is centrally located and close to all the best shops, restaurants/bakeries, the beach, and the ferry port. Because you are centrally located, it is less strenuous going up and down the hill (the route has a sloped path v.s. going up and down strenuous stairs all the time). There is a bus stop diagonally across from the hotel and a taxi/driving service office directly across from the hotel, so you have plenty of transportation options if you want to explore more of the coast (the towns along the coast are spread apart from each other). Even though the hotel is in a central location, we found it to be a quiet and peaceful place to stay. The room was clean and beautiful. We had a picturesque view of the town and ocean right from our hotel balcony and window (what a beautiful view to wake up & fall asleep to!). Each morning, you have the option to either have breakfast in the downstairs lobby or to have a tray sent up to your room which you can enjoy on the balcony. You just simply fill out a form the night before checking off the menu options that you would like.
What made the hotel most special for us was the hotel staff. They go above and beyond to help you plan your trip (offer suggestions), make reservations (for restaurants/excursions/drivers), and answer all your questions (even before arriving to the hotel). They are very responsive, kind, and welcoming. Each morning, they would leave us a complimentary bottle of chilled water in our room which was perfect for excursions. We stayed there during our wedding anniversary in September and they provided us with complimentary wine and a congratulatory message. When we went to the beach, they provided us with fresh towels and a “Hotel Bougainville” bag to carry them in. We even had complimentary flip flops for both of us in the room. Staying at this hotel was hands down the best hospitality experience we have ever experienced. I would HIGHLY recommend staying here over elsewhere in town. This hotel has been awarded as one of the highest-ranking places in the world to stay multiple times and after staying here, I can understand why. Don’t hesitate to book here!

Booked a late holiday 3 nights Positano, 4 nights Sorrento. We had a truly wonderful experience thanks to the Hotels we were lucky enough to stay in. La Bougainville is located in the heart of the village, at the top of the beautiful pedestrian street - steady 10 min stroll to the port and beachside. We had a lovely air con Room with balcony overlooking the atmospheric village centre. Close the balcony door and it was complete silence. Breakfast is a real feature of the hotel, and a truly delightful start to the day. Directly opposite the hotel is a very nice and inexpensive restaurant. Just below the hotel is a beautiful wine bodega - a must visit before heading out to dinner. Also opposite is the local Taxi service, which arranged our airport transfers. The most overriding feature of the Hotel is its owner Giovanni and his team, who go out of their way to assist you with every thing possible to make your stay so comfortable, and their advice on the various excursions you can make is truly invaluable. Be warned - Positano is very beautiful but extremely hilly. The Hotel La Bougainville is the most perfectly placed to location to move around effortlessly and enjoy the many adventures that Positano has to offer. A wonderful friendly hotel that will live long in your memory.

We had an excellent stay at Hotel Bougainville. Location is ideal, and the breakfast is yummy. Giovanni, the owner and manager of the hotel, and his team were very welcoming, lovely and helpful throughout our stay. We highly appreciated being upgraded to a sea-front bedroom with a balcony upon arrival, the room was the cutest and the view, stunning! The management team took great care of us by providing recommendations and by calling bus shuttle and restaurants to make reservation for us. In case of any question, Giovanni was reachable by phone at any time during the day. The hotel facilities were spotless clean, our bedroom was cleaned everyday by the cleaning team. I rated 10/10 but would have given you 15 if I could!! Thanks again Giovanni for having made our Amalfi coast experience unforgettable!

Perfection doesn't being to describe my stay at Hotel La Bougainville. Giovanni and the staff ensured that every aspect of my stay was taken care of. From recommendations for a quick lunch, reservations at restaurants with the most stunning views, day trips to Capri, a private cooking class, and every other detail imaginable, Giovanni helped to make this a trip I will never forget. The staff is warm, welcoming, and they truly make you feel like a VIP. The hotel is in the heart of Positano, just a quick walk to the beach and minutes away from shopping and restaurants. Breakfast is served each morning and my room was cleaned every day, I even returned to find lemons and honey next to the kettle when they noticed my allergies bothering me. Such a small detail but one that shows how caring and thoughtful they are. Giovanni and his staff embody the heart and spirit of Positano and I am already making plans to return next year!!

I can not say enough great things about this hotel. The high standard of hospitality started when we first arrived and the hotel swiftly carried our luggage upstairs and even though our rooms weren’t ready (our flight was changed to the morning, so we arrived well before check in time) the hotel made sure to recommend a wonderful place for lunch and then placed our luggage in our room. I made pre arrangements to have wine and fruit in the room and that was a very easy process to set up. The house wine was delicious and the fruit was the sweetest I’ve ever tasted.
During our stay, the hotel staff recommended activities to do and made themselves available for all questions we had. With this being our first trip to Positano, we had a ton of questions.
The room itself was very comfortable, well air conditioned, and had some modern touches that made our stay great. The tiles in the room were beautiful and the room was properly maintained.
This hotel included breakfast which was fresh and delicious. The hostess always made sure we had our lattes and fresh orange juice. When we departed the hotel, the manager at the front desk made it a point to make sure we had food for our journey home, which was extremely hospitable.
Overall, I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be back. The location is very central to all restaurants, bars, and a short walk (10 mins) to the public beach. We looked at several hotels in Positano and we couldn’t have made a better choice than Hotel La Bougainville.

My fiancé and I stayed at La Bougainville on a recent trip to the Amalfi coast and had a lovely time. The hotel itself was simple, and clean, and the breakfast in the morning was great (lots of options!). Before I proceed, I’d like to mention that Positano is very expensive during peak season, and our room was $250+ dollars and was quite basic but from the research I did before our trip, it seemed like great value. What made our stay enjoyable was (1) the location and (2) the staff.
(1) The location: The hotel is within a 7-minute walk from the beach, and is just around the corner from the main shopping area in Positano. I could not have imaged a better location for our three day trip. That said, the views from the hotel weren’t great but that’s what’s expected when you’re closer to the beach.
(2) The staff: From the moment we booked online, to the moment we checked out of the hotel, the staff was extremely kind, attentive, and friendly. I’d especially like to thank Salvatore (“Sal”) who helped us arrange a car to and from Naples, booked us on a boat from Positano to Capri, and had impeccable communication and care for our entire stay. You could tell the staff really care about the guests and ensuring they have a pleasant time in Positano. Thank you to Sal, and the entire staff at La Bougainville for making our trip one to remember!

More hotels should strive to be like this one. The staff couldn't be more helpful. Always there is help. The list of restaurants they recommend didn't disappoint. Just ask them to make a reservation for you.
The room was clean, the location was perfect and the view was unforgettable. It's not too far from the beach either.The breakfast is a continental with a mixture of pastries, fruit, eggs, cereal, bread l and a fresh cup of coffee for each person. The breakfast will keep you going for the day and the view when eating it is a treat also.
They supplied an external laundry service for €35 for one bag of clothes a perfect service for travelers.
I will recommend it to any family and friends who travel here in the future. If we are back I'll be booking myself back here again

My wife and I came here on our honeymoon after a few days in Rome. My family told me we have to go to Positano but it involves a lot of stairs (they stayed on the other side of the city center). They were so right to recommend it, Positano is amazing, but a part of why it was so amazing was because of our stay at La Bougainville!!
Before we came, I emailed with Giovanni about setting some day trips up and he was very easy to work with. We showed up and were greeted by Guisy who checked us in quickly and showed us around, she even offered us breakfast in our rooms the next morning. Our room was beautiful and had an amazing view with a balcony. We sat on our balcony so much and drank wine and just watched the people go by below.
The hotel is located right by the city center where there is the bus station, stores, restaurants, and a quick walk down to the beach. The walk up isn't that bad as it is better sloped on this side of town.
The breakfast in the morning was very filling and the staff was great. They were very accommodating! Whenever we had questions on were to eat or where to go, Giovanni knew best. He knows everybody and gave great recommendations. The best was for Refugio Dei Mele, by far the BEST dinner my wife and I have ever had, and the best view ever. Giovanni is very personable and will make you feel like you are at home, as does the rest of the staff.
This place is located in the perfect location, has an amazing staff, the rooms are very clean, and everything was perfect. Even when it rained, the view and the ambiance was perfect.
Couldn't have asked for a better stay at a hotel then at La Bougainville. Small, quaint, and perfect! If you visit Positano, stay with the folks here!

I had an amazing five nights at Hotel La Bougainville. The location was great as it was not far from the main beach, port and all the great shops and restaurants in town. The staff were very friendly and called you by name at breakfast and each night when you settled in after a day out. The facilities were clean and provided a great place to rest after a long day in the sun. Breakfast was very good with amazing morning views of Positano
They helped arrange a day at a beach club and provided a towel and beach bag. They also helped arrange a day trip to Capri. When the trip changed from a small group to large they asked if it was OK for that change before confirming that morning. The front desk also helped arrange a last minute car to the airport when my original mode of transport back to Naples cancelled last minute. As an FYI - plan on a 1.5 hour drive back to Naples so that you have plenty of cushion going back in case of an accident on the winding roads.
I highly recommend this wonderful place and if my travels take me back to Positano I will certainly look to stay here!

I think it was about 120 to 150 euros for a couple for a private transfer. If you want to do it cheap and have extra time, you can get a bus from Naples Airport to Sorrento and then the shuttle to Positano - but be warned the shuttle is packed in peak times. That option would cost you about 20 euros per person
There are more places to choose from in the Positano area.
