I lose count but I believe this will be my 7th time to enjoy the ambiance, comfort and beauty that is Villa Bellavista. There is a certain charm that comes with small sea villages. The pace is slower, the people kinder, the sleep sweeter. This is Villa Bellavista. Perched high above the sea, the views are incomparable. The grounds are beautiful with flowers, fruit trees and lots of trails to explore. The food is always good, with 4 course dinners to tantalize your tastebuds. The rooms are comfortable and clean. As a solo traveler, I have always felt safe. The owners work hard to give you the best experience, while visiting. My prayer is that travel restrictions will be lifted, allowing me to visit as soon as possible.

Rooms are basic but ours was a good size and very clean (Superior room 1st floor down from reception). Views are stunning from the balcony and you can easily spend a lot of time just looking out over the sea. The noise travels very easily around the hotel particularly as this floor is directly below the terrace so the noise from chairs being moved around and the clean up pre and post meal times. On the website the rooms are described as being painted like a watercolour with Amalfi colours, ours was plain white. Not a problem just different to advertised. The bathroom was a good size but dark with a clingy shower curtain. The bath didn't drain well. The shower was good and powerful. The mini bar is 2 bottles of water for the duration of your stay, useful to have the fridge. The continental breakfast was ok, I had a coffee and a nice croissant each day. Having breakfast on the terrace was lovely. We didn't have our evening meals there as the serving times didn't fit in with our plans. Location is as expected on the edge of a steep hillside. Lots of steps are not a surprise and should be expected given the location! This also allows for the wonderful views. The beach (not sand) is at the bottom so it's easy on the way down and hard on the way up. The beach area is a rocky cove and there is a ladder down into the water. It's deep so be careful if you're a nervous swimmer. The cove is beautiful and refreshing and it's nice seeing local people especially the kids as well as tourists enjoying themselves. It's not a large area so be prepared to share the space. Praiano itself is lovely and relaxed, we ate locally every night and the meals were great. The locals were very friendly and welcoming. You can get a bus easy enough to Positano or Amalfi. That said whilst we were there the road to Positano was blocked meaning we had to go to Amalfi to get a ferry to Positano, the other option was a water taxi which seemed tricky and expensive but definitely an option. The pool area is nice, not huge but the garden area is pretty and it felt like a little oasis. You must observe the pool opening times. Staff were polite on the whole but sometimes we felt like an inconvenience not a customer/guest but that's not a major issue as we used the hotel as a bed and a shower. Had we wanted more luxury or to spend more time in the hotel we might have felt differently. We were able pay for our stay with card but the city tax must be paid in cash.

We came upon this restaurant as advised by the host at our Air BnB. We walked up the hill with a quick pace, as we had been traveling from Rome and were ready for a good meal.Oh the view beguiled! We sat out on a chilly deck with hopes for a good meal. The food was mediocre at best, but with a view like that we relaxed and enjoyed our evening.

We stayed in Hotel Villa Bellavista for 10 nights as a base for our Amalfi coast trip. It was a great choice of place to stay though in retrospect a shorter trip would have been better. Our only mistake was thinking that getting from Praiano to Naples, Pompeii etc would be easy, but this is more about the location than the hotel. The hotel itself and the wonderful staff couldn't be better. It's a very relaxed and welcoming place. The rooms are comfortable even for a family with 2 teenagers. The room came with a large balcony and was perfect for enjoying a beer at the end of a day and watching the sunset over Capri and Positano. The room was cleaned every day and the rest of the hotel was well kept. Obviously at the end of the season there is a need for maintenance but this wasn't obvious. The breakfast was plentiful and we are more than we normally do at home. If you decide to walk the terraces and hills then you may be grateful if the calories but if you take the bus then you may weigh more when you leave than when you arrived. A 3 course dinner is available each evening and it's worth asking what is on the menu, it changes daily. The meal is good and flavoursome and very reasonably priced. Our kids certainly ate more salad then they've ever eaten before. The hotel offers a number of excursions over the summer especially some good ones via boat. The best was a trip along the coast between Amalfi and Positano with a great lunch stop in a restaurant that can only be reached by boat. The local knowledge certainly helped. They also offer a to to Capri and other trips to Pompeii etc. The hotel is situated in a bay with great views down the terraces. A walk down the many steps takes you down to the quayside where it's easy to take a swim or just sunbathe. There is a pool in the hotel and some hot tubs. The olive trees had grown so what sun there was couldn't warm the pool so it was too cold to use properly. And we were told the hot tubs couldn't be used which was a disappointment, especially to the kids who love them.
