Very friendly, uncomplicated hotel. Clean and nice rooms and a rooftop with a wonderful view to the sunset. Just a few foodsteps from Prato center and the trainstation (25 minutes by train to Florence).
I arrived on Prato, tired and hungry, having travelled for the the whole day, and when I stood on the San Marco square, I did wonder where on the earth I 've gotten myself into. As a middle-aged woman, travelling alone, you tend to appreciate clean, quiet, comfortable and safe surroundings, and it didn't seem that I was going to find it here. However, after a dinner in a nearby restaurant (La Veranda; can recommend, despite the surroundings), I began to feel better and started seeing the things in different light, and by the end of my four-day stay, i fully agreed with other reviews. While Hotel San Marco is basic, it's offers you a safe, friendly and clean accommodation at excellent value for money ratio. The breakfast was a slightly disappointing, though, but then every country have their own customs.…
The people who work at this hotel couldn't be more kind and helpful. I spent six days here for a conference at the Monash University Centre in Prato (a short walk away), and the staff helped me with everything from printing documents to recommending restaurants and working out my onward travel plans. Every time I came down to the front desk I was greeted by someone with a warm smile and sense of humour. While the rooms at the hotel are basic, they are comfortable and clean, and conducive to a restful sleep. The location is excellent - convenient to both the town centre and train station - and the price is reasonable. The breakfast was a bit of a disappointment. More options and a bit of imagination would have improved the experience considerably. Overall, however, I very much enjoyed and appreciated my stay, thanks to the wonderful people who work here.…
Stayed twice now. Rooms are pretty basic and not large but they have air con and a reasonably comfortable bed. Overall decor is dated but not offensive. Breakfast is OK, served in their basement that has no windows but is bright enough. Staff were always helpful and friendly. Location is good and it's easy enough to find. Good value.
I stayed here for a week on business and found the staff very friendly and helpful. First impressions of the room were not great as it was very dark but I found it homely after a while. I appreciated the TV being able to adapt to English. The bed was very comfortable but the pillows rather hard and flat, however, I slept very well. At the weekend guests tended to stay out late and talk loudly in the corridor, which was disturbing and rather annoying but it was quieter during the week. The breakfast was good, although would be great with a bit more imagination. The location is ideal for public transport and not far from the centre, with bars and shops etc. It was clean and had good facilities. I would definitely stay here again.
This hotel is run by a family. Simply the best people to deal with. Helpful and 100% honest. One will forget the small discomforts when it comes to customer experience at this people. I have stayed there three times in a row.
This is a very nice, quite, local hotel in old school style! People at the reception are adorable, really polite and very helpful. Rooms are having the space needed, are comfortable and very clean. I stayed in rooms 330 and 303. Breakfast is fresh and has a rather big variety of food and very good coffee. Located in piazza San Marco reachable by car and Taxis and very close to everything. I will definitely go back when visiting Prato
It is conveniently located in the old town. The room was spacious for me. The staffs are very friendly. Their breakfast is excellent. Overall great value. Check out for the old typewriter and phone next to the reception. I will stay again.
My workplace booked this hotel and we were very happy with the location and friendly and helpful staffs and value for money. They told us how to get the nearest super markets, restaurants and trading hours, gave us detailed bus, train timetable to the nearby town. Only thing the lift is quite narrow, the electric wheel chair couldn't fit in and one of my colleague's family have to move to another hotel far away.
The hotel had not changed much since my last visit. Of course the staff are most accommodating and willing to assist in any way. A cancelled flight was made less stressful by the help received organising early morning train travel. The room was big with a massive bathroom. The breakfast was as remembered but unfortunately like most hotels a coffee machine had been installed.
