In the era of digitalization and mobile phones available to everyone it’s possible to find an hotel like this that there’s no human contacts. I booked a room online and received digital codes to enter. The room was clean. Excellent the position, few steps from the central Piazza Colombo

The room was clean and fresh and centrally and well located. However, the digitized check-in was very frustrating where everything stopped after we paid the tourist tax via PayPal. You need to fill out a form, take a card on the passport, take a card with me with the passport next to my face and it was quite time consuming compared to a normal check-in.

Good hotel for the price and area. With in walking distance of almost everything, close to the docks, 24h market, and plenty of restaurants. Free wifi, and you can come and go as you please. Daily room service makes it easy. I would come here again...

For budget hotel is good. Clean, perfect location, fair price, friendly staff. We have got what we expected for this price. And definitely can recommend it for all who want cheap, but fine hotel in the city center.

The room is what you would expect for a budget hotel, and we had some minor challenges getting in as we were a bit delayed (didn't realize there's no reception). However, the location was excellent, the room had a fridge and staff were very nice and helpful. Decent stay for one night.

The room was big and clean, with everything I needed. Parking at the front door free during the night. Free international calls. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good location. No noises comin from the street. Had an issue to use the printer as explained on the description of the hotel, but the issue was solved and I printed my document. I would highly reccommend this place, great value for money.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Pollon Inn for approximately 10 days. Overall it was a good experience. The room we stayed in was clean and bright and it was cleaned daily. (The sheets were changed about every 3 days but the towels were changed daily). The bed was king size and a little hard but comfortable. There is a TV in the room but not much else. The shower is pretty small. The owner was around when we needed him but not always in your face which I liked. If he wasn't there you could contact him on the phone by dialing 999. It was cheap - 60 euros a night - don't get sucked into those hotels that offer breakfast - they are not worth it because there is a little cafe on every block in San Remo. One of my favourite things was the cappucino machine - it was only .50 cents to have a cappucino or latte and they were delicious! The hotel is right in the middle of the downtown area and close to everything (the sea, the casino, the stores, cafes, train staion, etc.). You can virtually walk anywhere and get there pretty quick.) The other advantage is that they have wireless internet so if you bring a laptop(something I would strongly recommend when travelling in Europe) you could connect to the internet at anytime night or day in your room. There was also the added bonus of using the main computer in the common area to print something off if you needed to. The owner provided us with a password and we could use it when he wasn't there. The other thing is that you can call long distance to any land line and it was free. The only disadvantage is that it was really really noisy starting at about 6 AM because that's when the city of San Remo starts to wake up until midnight but honestly you will be hard pressed to find a quiet place in San Remo in the downtown area. We brought ear plugs along and that let us sleep a couple of hours longer. The owner also speaks English as do most people in the tourism area. Just a note of caution - there is no elevator to carry your luggage up so you have to walk up stairs. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who doesn't want to spend a fortune on a room.

Once you are on the street, it is really not hard to find the building. While the sign may be small, the number 17 is clearly marked, as are the numbers on most of the surrounding buildings. I emailed a couple of times in advance to let them know when I'd be getting there, and someone was there to meet me, but it is true that there is often nobody in the lobby area. However, they claim to be reachable by phone 24 hours a day (I didn't have to try), and able to get there in minutes if you need anything. Things I liked: Coffee machine right outside my room - great cappuccino for .5 euro, also sold bottle water and a few snacks Comfortable bed Everything clean - daily housekeeping Great pizza right downstairs Window opened Free internet Free international phone calls! Things I didn't like: Very noisy air conditioner Tiny shower The room is very small and simple. There is a closet with a little hanging space and shelf space. It was fine for one person, but would have been crowded for more. However, I believe they had larger rooms. I've read different reports on the internet about the total number of rooms - several said only three. I was on the first floor (one up from ground level) and there were four rooms + lobby area on that floor of the building. I was told the hotel also included another four or five rooms another floor up. Due to the couple of things I mentioned I didn't like, I do not think I got a great bargain. I paid 80 euros per night, which was comparable to what friends paid for more full service hotels, with breakfast, in the area. For me, the location of the Pollon Inn was the main attraction, because I was participating in an event at the Palafiori (convention center) literally less than a block away. I did a lot of walking back from friend's hotels in the evenings, and it felt like the streets were very safe, in keeping with what I was advised.

After reading some of the reviews on here were a little apprehenisive about our stay. We were however plesently surprised. The rooms were large, clean and had air con which was a great plus. There was also someone at reception to sort everything out, so we had no quibbles there. So long as you know your looking for a buzzer to let you in then you should have no problem finding it-there is a large banner on one of balcony's above. We would definately recommend the pollen inn, as it was great value for money.
