I guess this is 'you get what you pay for'. They have the option of two single or one double bed. Bad idea, really. They just put the two single beds together and there still is a gap in between. So luckily our toddler stayed at the grandparents, cos sleeping in a bed gap is pretty uncomfortable. More on the bed: this was the most uncomfortable stay this year (pretty much each weekend a hotel stay) just because of the bed. It's hard (I am sure the mattress is at least 10 years old) it has no real duvet, just a filthy blanket with a bedsheet underneath. Then of course it's covered with a ugly and probably also filthy bed cover (think Anthony Melchiori...). I hate these covers and blankets that never get into a washing machine. But ok, let's try it. I was cold, really cold all night long, trying to breathe some warm air below the bedsheet and blanket, waking up hourly because I was so cold. It was an late-April, still pretty cold night. Looks clean at first. Then I found long black hair on the previously mentioned filthy blanket on the bed. The bathroom door is with a glass panel, Joy oh joy if you need two single beds ;) The bathroom is teeny tiny, less than 1,5m2, but still ok. As we're slim, it's not a big problem. And the non existent towels. There are smaller bedsheets instead of towels. They boast with a flatscreen tv. I only saw it the second day, as it is so petite. Like a regular (small) computer screen. Compared to the other hotels in the area though, the parking option is a quite nice asset, even if it is 300m away from the hotel. However, from there to the centre of the town there's a bike path. It's a 20 minute walk to the Sanremo Casino. Don't want to forget mentioning. the friendly staff.

No wifi in room, no air conditioning, no warm or hot water, no parking around site, dirty, rude owner, table linens for towels after asking to have towels in room, light bulbs burned out, no updated decor. Processed and packaged breakfast. Only positive comment was that there was espresso barista making requested morning coffee. DEFINITELY NOT A 3 STAR PROPERTY.

90€ per one night. Only one towel per room. Elevator doesn't stop at second floor. Shower with minimal water flow. No free plugs for you mobile. Do not expect wifi to reach rooms. Parking 5' walking from hotel. Out of this, Hotel convinient to stay for 1 night, not more. I do not complain, up to you to pay 90€ for a 2 star (never 3) hotel 20' walking from Sanremo downtown.

We have stayed at hotel Rio for a week in August 2015. Very friendly staff, especially the owner Senior Filippo and his wife Seniora Vika. The location of the hotel is very comfortable: supermarket COOP, restaurantes and kafes, enbankment and beach. Zhanna

The owners (husband and wife) are rude and arrogant. Spend your money at another place. Rooms are old and outdated, no wifi, location would be the only mediocre thing about this self proclaimed three star hotel. Also note that the owners of similar Italian hotels overbook their rooms so that they can take the last minute, more expensive, bookings and ship earlier bookings off to other hotels further out of town.

The Hotel was basic and clean, with a small (shared) balcony overlooking the main road and a petrol station next door. Easy walking distance from the beach and town centre, which is not much of a town centre with a limited choice eating venues. The hotel has no car park and there are very limited public car parking facilities anywhere nearby. This could be a major problem for anyone visiting by car and, as cars are shoehorned into any available space by locals, be prepared for scrapes.

It was really hard to find cheap accomodation in San Remo so I went for the cheapest I could find, which was Hotel Rio. Didn't really expect much, but I think it was a good choice. The room was clean and nice, we had a huge terrace and a nice bathroom. The breakfast was superb and the location definitely OK. It was walking distance to the beach and the city center and there was a big supermarket cross the road. Since there was also a minibar in the room we could put our drinks there.
