We could not fault the Hotel Caravel, very pleasant rooms, lovely food and extremely helpful and friendly staff. We will certainly return if we visit Sorrento in the future. The courtesy bus into Sorrento was a blessing as it was extremely hot on our visit...More
Nice, clean hotel 20 mins walk from Sorrento. Smoking seems to be allowed on the balcony and by the pool (but I guess it is not hotel specific but general in Italy). Our initial room was smokie a bit but they changed it with no...More
We arrived at this hotel and were greeted by friendly staff which was nice. We were shown to our room (119 ) which was more than adequate for our 7 night stay. It was clean and modern looking and had a balcony which was a...More
We stayed in the Caravel for two weeks in June/July 2013.
The hotel is based in a residential suburb of Sorrento, approx 20 mins walk away from the town centre. The local seafront is 5 mins walk away, with a good selection of bars and...More
Revisiting the hotel caravel after 2 years, I was slightly concerned that it wouldn't be as great as the 1st time! I should not have worried! The staffs attention to detail is 2nd to none! I had requested a sea view and a sea view...More

Hi, if you come out of the hotel, turn left. Keep walking until you reach the top of the road and turn left again. Keep walking along this road (keep to the left) until you reach a 'square' area with outside seating, gardens and coffee shops (be careful as the pavement is very narrow). The train station is up on your left up some steps. You will be able to get tickets from the ticket office inside (up another two flights of steps). Do not be alarmed by the train station as it is disgustingly filthy and it often smells. I would get there early as the trains are very busy. If going to Pompeii the train will take you virtually right outside where your going.... once you get off the train turn right and Pompeii is on your left. DO NOT buy tickets from the stalls or people as you come off the train, they will overcharge you. Buy your tickets from the official ticket office when you get inside Pompeii. Have an amazing time.

Our room was at the front facing the road. It's a one way street so it's quiet most of the time except when the bin men and road sweepers come early in the morning. We were all right with it but seeing other people's reviews, it seems those with the view of the Bay of Naples and the volcano are better.
