Hotel Alpha garners appreciation for its service, with staff that guests find helpful and friendly, though the restaurant service sometimes falls short of expectations. The rooms are a talking point—described as comfortable and clean, they vary from modern splendor to a more dated charm. While the hotel's location is praised for its convenience to public transport, some guests feel the additional charges and food prices compromise the overall value.
The atmosphere is a blend, with a serene evening vibe contrasting a modern ambiance. Cleanliness is consistently top-notch, with special commendations for the diligent cleaning staff. Amenities, including the pool and variety of food, receive positive remarks, though not without minor critiques.

Detailed Reviews
We were very lucky to have managed to take our pre-booked holiday at the Alpha hotel in late September 2020. The management worked hard to sort out a mix up with my daughter and partner’s room, our booking agent had failed to forward on the necessary paperwork, but all was sorted in a day or so.
We stayed half board and two of our parties were vegetarian, but we found that there were always vegetarian options on all of the menus. The restaurant staff were lovely, and always on hand to serve anything you wanted from the breakfast bar. Social distancing, mask wearing and highest standards of cleanliness were all in place, which meant that we felt as relaxed as possible during our stay.
Every member of staff we met were friendly, and took great pride in their hotel and the locality, most of the food served was locally sourced or grown at the hotel.
Buses ran directly from outside the hotel into Sorrento town and port, and the Circumvesuviana train station was a short 10 mins walk away in Sant Agnello town centre. We used this to access Sorrento, Naples and Pompeii during our stay, you passed a local supermarket on the way which was great for stocking up on any extra food and drink.
Relaxing by the poolside was a great experience, quiet and chilled and no problems with sunbeds/loungers. There were amazing views of the poolside areas or Mount Vesuvius from our balcony windows.
All in all a very pleasant stay, and would be happy to use as a base for touring the local area in future.

My husband and I debated for a long time whether to give 3 or 4 stars for our review. The hotel itself is in a fabulous location, right next to the train to take you into Sorrento, some lovely little cafes and restaurants and a supermarket. The outdoor areas of the hotel are really beautiful - very green and pretty, plenty of seating in the shade and full sun. The pool isn’t enormous but it’s a good size for even busy days with a bar right next to it serving drinks and crisps. The lunch the hotel provides was decent for the price and we were very happy with it. However, the main area letting this hotel down was the food served at breakfast and dinner. We understand that with Covid, there are restrictions but the breakfast buffet was disappointing. We may be incorrect but it all tasted as though it was out of packets/cartons and the coffee, for an Italian hotel, was sub-par. Twice during our stay we chose to find another place to eat breakfast which, when you’ve paid for breakfast, isn’t ideal!! We only ate dinner at the hotel once and decided not to repeat the experience. It’s 20 euros a head for 3 courses which is extremely good value but again the food was bland and tasted as though it was pre-packaged rather than freshly made. This being said, we still chose to give 4 stars as our room was very spacious with a huge balcony, cleaned daily to a high standard and we had a good stay aside from the food. Although we won’t return to this hotel for another stay, we had a wonderful time exploring Sorrento and the surrounding areas.

We had the most wonderful holiday, the staff here were so friendly & helpful they were truly extraordinary.
Our room was spacious & comfortable with 2 balconies on which we enjoyed watching the sunset every evening. The pool had plenty of sun beds & the citrus grove gardens were stunning.
The pizzas were excellent on days we were too tired to go into town & drinks were generously poured! The rest of the menu was adequate but we mainly ate out as there is a huge choice of amazing places to eat.
Location just outside Sorrento suited us, a 30 minute pleasant walk or 2mins to the station & a 2 minute return trip into town for £2.80 pp There was some traffic noise but we enjoyed watching the world go by.
The staff organised all our excursions & bookings and could not have been more friendly & helpful. They really were all superb.
I actually shed a tear when saying goodbye to them! 😢

We booked this hotel quite last minute and were thrilled, we’d definitely stay again! We stayed in a double room in the ‘cottage’ which is round the back, the rooms were really modern and extremely clean, the only downside was that the balcony was quite small and it wasn’t a great view I’d ask for one on the other side next time. But that was a very minor point for us as we weren’t in the room that much. The service at the hotel was faultless, everybody was lovely, really helpful and welcoming. The pool was a little suntrap, the water was quite cool but that was nice and refreshing and the grounds overall are immaculate and a beautiful setting. We caught the train into sorrento for just €1.40 most days, really simple and a couple of minutes walk and we also caught the train back to Naples to the airport for less than €5 euros each. Just be warned the station has a few flights of stairs and no ramps/lifts. Overall would highly recommend this hotel, slightly out of the hustle and bustle of Sorrento but you get a beautiful calm and spacious base.

This hotel was not a 4 star by far, warm welcome from reception standard room, bedding only made in 10 days and only pillow cases changed in 10 days.
Carpets was filthy on the first floor which is the floor we stopped on.
Pool towel had to be kept and used for 10 days or they charge you for another towel.
Food was awful- cold and tasteless( I had soup only three of these days and had to ask them to warm it up. No attention to details such as a tea spoon with the cup and saucer. Had to ask 4 times for a tea spoon. No hot plates keeping food warm, entertainment ( only seen two acts in 10 days.
Pool had algae in it around the steps inside the pool and the Childs pool, trip hazards around the pool.
My sun lounger collapsed on me hurting my back.
Most of the staff was nice and helpful but some staff was rude ( restaurant area)
Reported this to the rep who was happy to move us, but this took them 3 days to sort this by this time we had book excursions which left us in limbo as these excursions was meaning picking us up from hotel.
Overall, Italy is a beautiful place and we enjoyed all our days out.
Italians was lovely people on every trip and went above and beyond to make our days special.
I would never go back to this hotel or recommend this to others.
Sorry hotel Altha it’s a thumbs down for me.
I hope you apply changes going forward and learn from this.

Throughout our stay we found the staff at the Hotel Alpha were exceptionally friendly, helpful and cheerful. The reception team were outstanding, and the waiting and bar staff all willing and genuinely doing their best. The location was to our liking, being close to the train station and with Sorrento being in easy reach. We stayed in the annex which was very modern and our view from our balcony was lovely. The bathroom was very good and the toiletries provided were replenished daily. The room was consistently serviced to a high standard.
The downside of our stay was the dinner, where the temperature of much of the food brought to us was barely warm. Our other main concern was that having asked on occasions what a particular dish consisted of and then ordering it, on arrival at the table, the item did not resemble the description in any way. For example, a different meat to what was on the menu, and more alarming had we been vegetarian, when a stuffed pepper we expected by the description given to be a vegetarian dish, contained all meat. Every single night we found that the bread which was preplaced on our side plate just too hard to eat. The dessert trolly did on a few occasions have some nice desserts, especially the left over semifreddo which found its way to the trolly one evening, after a large party of special guests had all been served. On the menu the assorted ice-creams consisted of chocolate and vanilla then some nights only chocolate and worse still some nights no ice cream available at all.
We had been concerned having read some of the reviews about the food in September 2022, after we had already booked, but hoped for the best. Having been to Italy several times, this sadly turned out to be the worst Italian food we have been served. We spoke to some guests who had stayed at the Alpha on previous occasions and they conveyed to us their huge disappointment in the decline of the standard of the food in the dining room. Other aspects of concern were having to request an ice bucket on occasions after the bottles of White and Rose wines we had ordered, were opened, poured then left on the table without an ice bucket. There were some large groups staying in the hotel which meant the usual nice wine glasses were in short supply and some guests on tables of two and four were given the Paris goblets used for the fruit juice at breakfast, rather past their best, due to the number of times through the dishwasher, so they were dull and cloudy. Not ideal, especially as we were aware of the high mark up on the wine made by the Hotel Alpha, having seen a number of identical wines available, in a local supermarket at a fraction of the cost.
The breakfast was generally okay but certainly not outstanding or varied if you were staying a number of days. There was sometimes a considerable delay in replenishing the cheeses and meats and some other items after the large groups had been through. Summing up the Hotel Alpha’s location enabled us to easily independently explore the wider area, but the food was a major disappointment and really took the edge off what could have been a great stay.

Tired of b&b and airbnb places, we booked one night at alpha hotel once we were already in Naples (coming from Spain).
When we got there we found ourselves like at home. A nice Villa with a swimming pool. Huge and clean bedroom.
We decided to stay for another night.
Great guy in the front desk at night kindly recommended us some restaurants which were all fabulous. Everybody was extremely kind.
We had rented a motorbike and the city center was only a 5 minutes ride, but still there were plenty of places to go for an aperitif around the hotel.
The swimming pool was great. Super comfortable hammocks.
The only thing that we findes quite poor has the breatfast. Served by the waiter (during covid). It could be improved.
Above all great stay.

My husband and I stayed here for my 50th Birthday and we couldn’t have chosen better . Great location, immaculately clean the rooms are beautiful fresh towels and fresh bed daily . The staff are so welcoming and friendly nothing is to much trouble the food is fresh and well prepared with a great selection, the pool and pool bar again pristine as are the gardens with orange and lemon trees . It’s Literally 10 minutes from the train station we went into Sorrento for €1.40 a taxi is €20 so the train is a bargain . Lovely supermarket and restaurants and bars near too with the nicest people . We took a boat trips to Amalfi , Positano and Capri we where picked up and dropped off at the Hotel too , please book these trips they are so worth it AMAZING. Sorrento itself is beautifully busy , it has a great vibe we went to the most stunning church for Mass on the Sunday and so pleased we did . Thank you to the team from Hotel Alpha for help making my trip so happy and memorable we will definitely return. .

We had a fantastic two week stay at Hotel Alpha. We had a double room shared with our daughter overlooking the road and citrus grove but with a good view of the sea and Mount Vesuvius. The sunsets were amazing! The room was very modern, spotlessly clean with very comfortable beds, balcony, excellent aircon and a brilliant shower. There is a kettle in the room
and we were able to get a jug of fresh milk from the bar for our tea. We loved the pool, which is very deep. There was never a problem finding sunbeds and as they are under beautiful citrus trees, there was always some welcome shade. The gardens are lovely and we liked spotting the lizards! We found the food mostly very tasty and there was always a good choice at breakfast and dinner ( we were half board). We ate lunch outside at the Nonna Gianna restaurant on the terrace quite a few times and the food was great with big portions. The service from all staff at the hotel was excellent, always efficient and friendly. The location is very convenient for Sorrento, the train is easy to use but busy, standing room only but it is just one stop to Sorrento. The station, a bar selling lovely icecream and a handy supermarket for water/ snacks is a very short walk from the hotel. In the other direction there is a beautiful view over the bay at the Marinella terrace. Sant Agnello also has shops selling beach wear and toys etc and our daughter got a great pair of sunglasses for 5 euros. Back at the hotel, visit the roof terrace for an incredible view of the mountains.
Thank you everyone at Hotel Alpha for a great holiday.
