Grand Hotel La Pace captivates many guests with its grandiose decor and tranquil pool area, alongside its comprehensive all-inclusive options. The service at the hotel generally garners acclaim for its attentive and friendly staff, complemented by a praised shuttle service. While the hotel exudes a classic charm, some visitors feel a refresh is needed to enhance the atmosphere. The value proposition receives mixed reviews; guests appreciate the reasonable pricing and location, yet some critique the food and dated elements. Rooms are commended for their size and cleanliness, but refurbishment is suggested. The spotless condition of communal areas is widely recognized, although the location's tranquility sometimes translates to remoteness for those not using the shuttle.

I’ve read most of the reviews on here and I honestly do think they are a bit harsh. Yes the hotel needs updating in some ways, mainly the rooms as the decor is quite old fashioned, however I would say that in other areas such as the reception/lobby/bar this actually does add to its character so i wouldn’t change the hotel completely.

The food is good, especially the breakfast, the scrambled eggs are cooked lovely and there is lots of choice such as continental and hot breakfast, fresh fruit, juices. We found the evening to be just as nice, some dishes (such as the starters, antipasti) are repeated but generally there is a different hot dish each night mainly pasta, and fish or meat.

The adapters in the room are actually the three pin kind which the normal uk to euro adaptors don’t work in but the shop in sorrento had some of these for €3 each. There is one in the bathroom that works but it’s helpful to have a couple more I think just to bare in mind and this is where the rooms needs updating. Shower and bathroom facilities are good. There is no tea/coffee making facilities in the room but this didn’t bother us as we had nice coffee at breakfast. We had a large ground floor terrace which was nice and spacious although in hindsight would have preferred a room higher up to get the view. We found that the rooms and main areas in the hotel were always spotlessly cleaned and we didn’t see any patches of mould or dirt that have been complained about in other reviews.

The pool is lovely but quite cold, however I have found this with all other Italian hotels they tend not have heated pools and it wasn’t so cold that you could not get in at all. There are lots of Sun loungers and you could always get a space. There is a pool bar and a bar downstairs in the hotel which is open in the evening and if it’s raining.

One thing I would say and I think this is the fault of TUI rather than the hotel, we booked it as an adult only hotel however there was a child present towards the end of our stay so this is just another thing to bare in mind that I don’t think this really is an adult only hotel and TUI need to not advertise it as such as it’s misleading.

Overall, sadly we would not stay here again just because the hotel is a bit out dated and geared mainly towards the older generation so it wasn’t quite right for us but we did have a pleasant time there and I would say it is definitely a 4 star hotel.

Would have given this a 3.5 rating it was a better than average hotel but not really an excellent one.

Hotel is situated about a 30 minute walk from the centre of Sorrento but there is a free shuttle bus that runs regularly to and from Sorrento which takes about 15 minutes and is worth its weight in gold.

The hotel itself is cleaned regularly and the staff extremely helpful we booked a seaview but you had to stand at the window to see the view. We spoke with the management and they moved us without complaint to a room with a French balcony once available which was much better. Make sure you book a seaview and balcony to get the best of your time there.

The reception area is impressive but a little old fashioned. The rooms were a little tired around the edges and could do with a refresh but this didn’t detract from the holiday itself.

The pool was of an adequate size but did get busy on occasion.

We only had breakfast and it was the usual fair of continental meets Italy’s version of an English Breakfast.

The staff are extremely polite and helpful.

Beverages at the hotel are similarly priced to most other restaurants and outlets at 3€ for a soft drink, 6€ for a pint and 9€ for a cocktail/spirit.

Wr had a late departure the hotel stored our luggage until our departure time and we were able to use one of the 2 shower areas in the gym again, it was perfectly adequate for our needs.

The only complaint we had is that we booked with TUI and were advised this was an adult only hotel which unfortunately proved not to be the case during our second week when a number of families with very young children were in residence. Also TUI reps never really made an appearance at this hotel they spent their time at the sister site further down the hill and expected us to go to them but this is TUI’s issue and not the hotels!

Overall it was a lovely stay and non of the small issues detracted from our holiday.

We stayed for a week as a family in what I would describe as an ornate, palatial hotel, though not 5-star as compared to the more mainstream tourist destinations.
We all had big rooms with lovely panoramic views, so plenty of space to spread out. Did the rooms need a bit of a refresh? Possibly. However, we were more than happy with them and we can be quite picky. Staying B&B the breakfast offering, although adequate, was a little sparse though you could ask for alternatives such as omelette to be cooked if you wanted. Pool area was fine with plenty of sun beds and fresh towels each day and a little pool bar which served plenty of drinks and snacks.
The staff were attentive and keen to please throughout the hotel, so much so, that the maitre de was also the resident DJ one night joining in the dancing too!
Francesca on reception was always very pleasant and helpful, whether that be for general information or ordering a taxi.
The hotel bus service into Sorrento was great if you didn’t fancy a 35 minute walk into town and was used by most.
The hotel could definitely be updated, but actually that is part of its charm and perhaps it would lose its unique atmosphere if it changed too much. All in all a pleasant holiday.
One point to note: taxi costs are expensive. A 10 minute run into Sorrento was generally €30!!

I have recently returned from a stay at the Grand Hotel La Pace for 5 nights with my mum at the beginning of April on an all-inclusive package with Jet 2. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend for those wanting to travel to Sorrento.

Firstly, we were upgraded to a double room with a balcony which had spectacular views over Sorrento and the bay of Naples. The initial impression of the room was pleasant as it had a traditional and palatial feeling thanks to the patterned, yellow tiles and the fabric adorned walls. Upon closer inspection there were some small problems like chipped tiles and a few areas that could be in need of redecorating but nothing that would impact your stay. Generally, the room was cleaned well apart from the tea cups which were often left when they had been used.

The food is probably the weakest offering from the hotel as on many nights my mum struggled to eat from the buffet however I thought it was fine. We especially enjoyed breakfast as I thought there was a large selection from pastries to hot options. One issue is that often the food wasn’t labelled or mislabelled so at times it was hard to know what some of the buffet items were. Throughout the hotel the staff were helpful and friendly especially in the downstairs bar where we enjoyed their large cocktail menu especially their limoncello spritz. Another bonus is that during dinner they would often give you a bottle of wine with your meal. Also, on the first night due to our flight arriving late and the restaurant being already closed they put on a small meal consisting of meats, cheeses, salads and traditional Italian easter cake.

If you are after large amounts of entertainment and activities than this is not the hotel for you as it offers a more relaxed experience. However, on most nights there was a singer in the bar and there is a swimming pool surrounded by sunbeds. As previously mentioned, the main draw of this hotel is its classic elegant style with a Murano glass chandelier and marble floors decorating the lobby and you can discover numerous antiques around the hotel. This hotel really is transportive in taking you back in time to a period of more elegance and grandeur.

Another highlight is this hotels location as it is a short walk from the town of Sant’Agnello and its train station which helped us with our day trip to Pompeii. Also, the hotel puts on regular complementary shuttlebuses to Sorrento at various times in the day making Sorrento easy to explore.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel as it is perfect for exploring the local area due to its location and their easily accessible shuttlebuses and is also perfect for someone who loves to relax surrounded by Italian opulence.

We booked this hotel through TUI. Firstly they advertised it as adults only, and that bookings for children under 16 would not be accepted. There are plenty of children as young as three. We decided to have one day by the pool, by the afternoon it was full of children making noise and being a nuisance. The cocktails are 9 Euros. Around Sorrento, that is in fact quite expensive and the cocktails here are extremely poor quality and do not taste as they should.
The hotel may have been a 5 star hotel 20 years ago, but this clearly has not had any work done in a very long time. Everything is tired and run down. The carpets around the hotel are stained and filthy. The toilet in our room was stained and smelt of stale urine. The food at breakfast isn’t of good quality and a very disappointing variety of fruit. Last of all, I struggle to believe that any 5 star hotel would allow a view from our French balcony such as ours. We cannot leave the windows or curtains open as someone could easily see in or climb in, that was walking past. I will never stay here again, mainly because of the false advertising from TUI, but also because it is far away from being a 5 star hotel.

Lovely hotel. But a bit far out from Sorrento town centre for anyone who isnt good on their feet. The shuttle bus is a life saver especially in the heat. They run on time and regular. The reception and lobby is beautifully decorated and very ornate. The rooms are not 5 star, but clean and to be fair, you dont spend your holidays in a bedroom
Positives:
lovely friendly helpful staff.
Clean
Hairdryer in rooms
Mini bar in rooms
Pool towels provided
Shuttle bus
Negatives:
Bit too far for less mobile people
Bedrooms need a bit of TLC, need modernised
Food in restaurant was never hot. Always luke warm. Although what we had was always tasty
Bed/mattress wasnt the most comfortablest
Bar in hotel closed (only open when raining) so if you want a drink in evening, you have to sit in pool bar.

Overall: i would stay again for the price we paid for the holiday

First of all, this is an honest review based on my experience. The hotel in my opinion is not a 5 star hotel if you are wanting 5 star luxury feel in my opinion this hotel is not for you.

The lobby and reception area is amazing. Our room was lovely traditional decor but did have a musky smell, the walls have a fabric wallpaper which is the likely culprit of the musk. In my opinion the rooms need a deep clean scrub or a refurb, I have read that other rooms have been refurbished so this may be the case for other rooms. The bathroom again was good but not 5 star. My clothes did get a musky smell from them being hung up in the wardrobe even though i left it open.

We used the hotel as more of a base so cannot comment on evening meals as we ate out every night. The breakfast is adequate and could always get something we liked. I really enjoyed the omelets, again not 5 star though. I did not try the coffee so cannot comment on this.

Drinks again were okay, it wasn't branded soda / fizzy pop (can only comment from the pool bar) but you get what you pay for.

Pool area did seem quite small for a hotel of that size but I would imagine a lot of people spend their day out on excursions as we did. The sunbeds had a sun shade for your face on which was great!

The hotel staff were all super friendly and helpful.

I did have a wander to the gym and 'spa' facilities. The jacuzzi and steam room did look tired and dated which put me off using it. Gym looked okay! If treatments were wanted you could book these via reception desk. I did not use them. The reception staff also had to be Informed if you wanted to use the sauna too as it needed to be turned on.

Location - location was fine as a base for exploring sorrento / amalfi coast and we used the complimentary shuttle bus on a number of occasions which was punctual. A walk into the centre took around 25 minutes, given the hill and heat I would not want to walk back!

There is a restaurant on the top of the hill (with a cross) I would highly recommend, the location and panoramic views are stunning. (Reasonable too). The ladies at reception booked this and sorted transport to and from the restaurant for us.

Overall - would I recommend this hotel? If you are looking for a hotel as a base with a reliable shuttle bus and adequate facilities yes, if you are wanting to spend more time in the hotel with more of a luxury feel, no. I cannot compare this to other hotels in the area but given the price of this hotel and overall location, we cannot complain. If improvements were made this could be a thriving, stunning hotel overall.

Lovely hotel, elegantly decorated in traditional Italian style. We stayed in a triple room, which was large with lots of storage, equipped with tv, kettle, tea & coffee, fridge with water replenished daily, sofa, shower over bath. Room was spotlessly clean. Food is excellent, though there was quite a small selection compared to other AI hotels we've visited. Our balcony had a "garden view" not very attractive or private and was in need of a good clean, but we only used it for our morning cuppa to be honest. The rooms are a bit dark & dated, but the thick wallpaper (mentioned on previous reviews) i think is soundproof panels, ensuring a good nights sleep on comfy beds with no rude awakenings. The staff are fantastic from reception to house keeping & restaurant/bars. Great low key, grown up entertainment, happy to say no bingo or karaoke here 🙂. This hotel is adults only & is in a lovely quiet location, 10 minute walk to Sant Agnello town with its independent shops, bars & cafes & also the train station for Naples, Pompeii etc (turn right from hotel, then 1st left, go passed the church, down alleyway, across road, then follow sign. The hotel provides a free shuttle bus to Sorrento too. Lovely pool area with great sunbeds & nice views. We booked a last minute one week stay & wished we booked longer. We are hoping to return again in the near future.

We loved our stay at the Grand Hotel La Pace. The hotel entrance is every bit as beautiful as others have said, as are the rest of the communal areas.
The rooms are decorated in the traditional Sorrento way of blues and yellows, the same as many of the other hotels in the area (this is our 3rd stay in Sorrento), we very much like the style. The upkeep of the rooms and the cleaning is excellent, we saw only fresh white sheets and new pristine white towels changed very regularly.
Our room was at the back and was of the lemon and olive trees growing there alongside the vineyards and to us was beautiful but the front does give you the view of the bay of Naples.
The pool area is large and open with plenty of very nice sunbeds for everyone and also includes a further sun terrace above. There is a pool bar and outside restaurant area for lunch, at least twice a week the hotel holds a barbecue and includes traditional dancers or singers and a DJ which is good fun and well worth attending.
There is a free shuttle bus provided by the hotel taking you into town and picking back up, however it is easy to walk takes around 10 minutes to the bottom of the road and then 20 minutes into town from there, yes the road is busy but don't let it stop you. There is a supermarket and a pizza bar just round the corner and a few more shops and bars at the bottom of the road.
The staff are great, very welcoming and professional.
I'm really not sure what people expect when they leave bad reviews please don't let them put you off.

Where to start! The great things about the hotel were the staff, the backdrop view , the grand entrance hall, and the free shuttle bus into town. The all
Inclusive drinks were good too.
The food was absolutely awful, for example, breakfast, stone cold rubbery fried eggs that had been sat for ages, cold scrambled eggs, absolutely awful. Fried potatoes, meant to be hot, as in a heated tray, undercooked, cold and awful, no baked tomatoes, or anything extra, everything looked like it had been there for days and days, it was inedible, there was no choice of anything at all. Cereal, for example, very basic, no choice of milk, skimmed, almond etc , just 1 jug of full fat milk, which tasted like sterilised milk. And 1 bowl of yoghurt, no chopped fruits , nuts or anything to add to cereal. The bread to make
Toast was good, that is all..there was a small selection of packet meats and sliced cheeses, all looked and tasted very cheap.
Evening meal, terrible, no choice, no fresh fish, fresh vegetables, just nothing, we ended up eating out. If you were vegetarian, vegan or have any special requirements, you’d starve!
Soup was tinned tomato soup, horrible.I thought the Italians pride themselves on tomato based food. Pizzas were thick and looked awful, tasted doughy.
We’ve had better food at a 2 star hotel.
How Jet2 can pass this hotel as a 4star and the hotel itself say it’s a 5 star, is beyond me.
No actual coffee machine, just a pre-prepared coffee flask, that was luke warm, although could order a cappuccino and filter coffee on request.
The rooms are very basic, tired, and old fashioned, although very clean. Very basic soaps, etc, only 2 sachets of coffee and dried milk powder in the room each day.
I would never recommend staying at the hotel , unless you did room only.
