Hotel Club Sorrento

We stayed at this hotel in Sant A’gnello for a week whilst we were in Sorrento in June. For us, it did everything we could have asked for, the slightly outside central location (a 20-30min walk to Sorrento town centre/beaches) that we used as a base for our holiday to Sorrento.

Our room was a double room, it was basic but did what we needed. We had a balcony which faced towards an apartment complex, a bathroom which the shower was always warm and we had no issues with and a double bed, which was two twin beds pushed together but did not impact our holiday at all.

The room was tidied most days and the hotel cleaned, the cleaners were always happy to provide extra towels. The only thing we would complain about is that the sheets weren’t changed in the week that we were there, but we also didn’t request they be changed either.

Inside the room we had a little fridge, which was one of the saviours of our holiday and air con. The air con was fab until the Friday, when a power cut made it stop and it didn’t quite return to working fully by the time we left on the Saturday morning. The power cut was also inconvenient, but cannot be blamed as there was roadworks nearby which caused this. It would have been nice if the staff had alerted us to this planned power cut, but the power was back by midday.

The pool was nice, although it does not have a shallow end and is decently deep but does its job. There are jacuzzis on the rooftop terrace, which does offer some lovely views of the sea and Mt Vesuvius.

We only had breakfast, which was fine for what we wanted. We enjoyed the croissants, but there is a cafe which is a 5 minute walk away which does good coffee, gelato and pastries. Along with that there are also a few restaurants nearby which serve lovely meals (Peppinos and Il Ruttino which does a fantastic pizza and takeaway too).

The staff, on the whole, were very kind and welcoming- especially as we missed our transfer and arrived at the hotel at about 1:30am. We called ahead and we were given the key to our room, the staff left all the extra bits for the next day due to how tired we were and we could not thank them enough for that.

Every evening we were welcomed by an older gentleman who worked the night shift and he charmed us with his singing. We also had the best limoncello spritz in Sorrento thanks to the magic ingredient.

Overall, this hotel was perfect for what we were looking for (and paid for). We managed to go into town and go to Capri, the Blue Grotto, Pompeii and Herculaneum whilst we were there and enjoyed the beaches and the town centre of Sorrento. This hotel is near a main road, a pharmacy and a supermarket. I will say if you intend on walking into Sorrento be aware that some of the road has not got pavements but the train is very close by.

Thank you so much for the stay, and I’m sure we’ll be back again someday.

Stayed in this hotel during September 2020. The hotel was conveniently located near the railway station which took 3 mins to sorrento centre at €1.30 each way.
The rooms are small but you don’t come to sorrento to stay in your room.
Hotel staff were lovely. Always happy.
Given we stayed during Covid-19 the hotel was very quiet, often only Two or three couples eating in the dining area.
The food was lovely and plentiful. Plenty of choice and the fish dishes were lovely.
The roof top terrace was nice, especially to come to after a day of site seeing to catch the last rays. It was a Pity the hot tubs were not in use but due to Covid I can understand why.

The hotel is in a good location, near train station into Sorrento centre(trains every few minutes, only 1 Euro 40 one way) we were picked up from our transfer and driven to hotel, about 2 minutes away.We we’re given a welcome glass of Prosecco on arrival and efficiently checked in. This is a family run hotel and the staff were very helpful, nothing too much trouble. This hotel like a lot in Italy have waiter service in the restaurant, this was not great, the 2 waiters were a bit ‘sloppy’.You have to select your evening meal at breakfast, a choice of 4 starters and 4 main course. We arrived on the Monday evening and were able to make our choice! Our starters were pasta served on cold plates, the main course wasn’t even palatable. Battered chicken with potatoes and carrots, pork escalope which was mainly fat served with the same veg.
The breakfast was a buffet but it had limited choice, a lot of processed products and coffee was terrible. The evening meal on Tuesday improved slightly but still served on cold plates and poor presentation, we didn’t get a choice of sweet, we were just handed a plate or bowl with chopped up fruit, ice cream or Tiramisu.A lot of the food was towards the cheap end, the hotel was 3 star with Jet2 but had 4 stars on hotel sign! The hotel was refurbished in 2017 and was nicely decorated throughout, the only thing lacking was atmosphere, the restaurant is in the basement next to kitchen, no windows, the tables were laid up and cleared efficiently but not what were have been used to. We didn’t have any great expectations for this hotel on arrival and for the price, but during the week we got use to it. Most British guests had at least one or two meals out, the Italian hiking group which was staying the week on a set menu didn’t mind the food, at least they brought a bit of atmosphere - even though we couldn’t understand them.
If you want a reasonably priced hotel near Sorrento I would recommend it, just don’t go half board-eat out. Also be aware that the train line runs right past hotel, it didn’t bother us and the trains stop after 10.30

A great little hotel, close to the Sant Agnello train station, for adults only. Despite the closeness to the road and railway line, you wouldn't know it, it was really quiet and peaceful generally. Staff couldn't do enough for you. We were met with a lovely drink and given keys to room. There was a kettle and fridge provided together with safety deposit box. The hotel was spotless throughout and food was of the home cooked type with large portions. There were 3 choices of starter and main but staff were really great and happy to provide something if it didn't suit. Great views from the roof terrace and the pool was nice in the heat. Would definitely return. Lovely trip, particularly in covid times, the hotel was conscious of social distancing and wore masks.

The hotel is ideally situated to visit the sites via rail or bus, Sorrento is within walking distance or by train.

Local transport is safe and cheap.
The hotel is family run and the rooms are probably the cleanest we’ve ever stopped in, cleaned daily by Giuseppina and Tatiana

The food is fresh and adequate if your stay is half board and will save you money should you wish to eat out more lavishly, Franco make no mistake is in charge of the restaurant and will often tell you where to sit,I found him to be a very charming funny character !
Luigi on reception is eve-ready to help.
This is a family run hotel and everyone of them , invests a lot of personal time and effort to ensure the guests enjoy and are comfortable with their stay, something which I think they have achieved
Would definitely recommend

Lovely hotel, spotlessly clean, small double room with large balcony. Housekeeping was excellent with fresh towels daily. Staff all very nice and friendly. Pool was fine for the size of the hotel. Roof terrace was excellent, on 2 levels with plenty sunbeds and 2 showers....Great views from here., especially when you first see Mt Vesuvius from here. The railway line is very close but you really don't hear it. The food, we were half board, 1st holiday in Italy, we felt it was very basic. Breakfast was fruit juice, yoghurts, fruit, cereal, sliced ham, sliced cheese, bread (available toastie machine though this only warmed the bread), eggs(boiled or scrambled), beans, croissants, rolls, marmalade, cakes and coffee/tea machine. You were given dinner menu to select your meal for later that day, usually 3 starters, 1 of which was soup and other 2 were pasta dishes, 4 mains, consisting of 1 meat, 1 fish, 1 pasta and 1 salad, 1 sweet and bread/butter. Drinks available which got charged to room. Bill to pay on last night of holiday including city tax €2/night per person. We found the food adequate but just felt it let a great little gem of a hotel down. Hotel is well placed, 5 mins walk to S'Agnello Station, costs €1.49 one way to Sorrento takes about 5 mins to get there or you can walk along main road 25 mins. We did a few tours though we organised them ourselves...as cheaper. Went to Capri on ferry, €20 each way...loads to do there but be prepared for the massive queues. Also did Amalfi and Positano by ferry €40 return, gorgeous views. Booked Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius bus tour, excellent. Also took train €10 return to Castellammare di Stabia and took cable car €9 return up Mt Faito. Views were stunning everywhere we went. Several small shops, bars and restaurants all 5/10 mins walk of hotel and also lovely church.

Luigi and his staff went above and beyond for me and my fiancé as we stayed at this hotel this is not a Hilton hotel it is a family run hotel so if you’re looking for frills this is not the place for you.

If you’re looking for staff that goes above and beyond then this is the place for you Luigi made sure that he helped me with my plans for the next days tours and transportation come and pick me up every single day that I asked him to.

They had a great breakfast with a lot of stuff welcome cocktail for us as soon as we arrived. The train station is right next to the hotel and it’s one stop away from Sorrento we actually walked home one night.

They actually upgraded my room tow balcony room and did not charge me for it it was a beautiful view of the mountains such a nice location close to the water.

My cell phone charger decided to break on me the last night that we were there and Luigi and his staff had a bucket full of phone cords they went through to find one that would fit my phone and lent it to me for overnight use to charge my phone I mean what other place would do that for you!

I will definitely come back and stay at this hotel as everything is within walking distance and the staff and the food were amazing above and beyond thank you so much and I hope to see you all soon!

I stayed here for a week as a solo traveller. I couldn’t fault a thing. The hotel was spotlessly clean. My room was cleaned every day and fresh clean towels provided. The breakfast is mainly continental but there was an option to have a wonderful freshly made omelette each morning. Evening meal is chosen and ordered at breakfast. I have to say there was something for everyone and the quality was great. This is a family run hotel and the staff can’t do enough for their guests. There are previous reviews which mention noise, yes there is a train line close by but I can honestly say I wasn’t once disturbed by train noise or any other noise, I slept like a baby the whole week. This is a very busy little town within walking distance to Sorrento, plenty of lovely local bars and restaurants.
In terms of current events and safety, all hotel staff wore masks, shops, bars and restaurants were the same and in fact it felt safer than at home. I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

This is a great little hotel just outside Sorrento in Sant'Agnello, but only a 25 minute walk into the centre of Sorrento. The rooms were small, but comfortable.
The hotel staff were superb from the moment I walked in with my welcome cocktail to the day I left. They all followed the Covid rules and I always felt safe during my stay.

The food was great, breakfast is basic but they would cook you an omelette each morning with I topped up with a bit of cheese and salami from the self service section.
Evening meals were great, you chose from a selection of starters and mains on breakfast and they were tasty and plentiful.
I would recommend this hotel to anybody who doesn't mind staying just outside of Sorrento in the knowledge you could easily get there by foot or train.

First of all we were given a smaller room than we paid for which is absolutely ridiculous. Second, the lights in the bathroom continue to flicker on and off like there was a demigorgon or something near by and even after contacting the staff there was no help given to us. There’s also problem with plumbing when the people around us use their shower or something ours would turn off. Also, when we asked for a second key there was an issue giving to us telling us that if we lost this one key it would be a huge issue and the staff was being quite rude about it. Another issue was with the space in a room, it was very cramped and it just wasn’t good for a four person room which is what we paid for. One more issue was that there is one elevator and it moves quite slowly so all 4 of us getting down from floor 3 took over 15 minutes. Lastly, with the amenities that you expect from four-star hotel such as this one were completely absent such as proper AC and bathroom venting or something as simple as a bath mat that make a big difference on your hotel experience. (Not something I expect, but as a side note, the WiFi at the hotel was horrible)TL;DR DON’T STAY HERE

There is no shuttle bus from the hotel because the hotel is located in a very narrow street. Around d the corner from the hotel there are public buses that take you to Sorrento. We only used them once, we found it quicker to walk in as the times were not good. However I wouldn’t recommend Walking with children or older guests as the paths are very narrow in places. There is a train to Sorrento the opposite direction to the bus stops, but again you’d need to check the times. Avoid taxis as they are very expensive.

We stayed in room 102, the safe was a digital one in the wardrobe. Area felt safe but Don't walk into Sorrento by main road as traffic is very busy. Go a couple of streets back under the rail line and walk in that way passing some nice cafes and restaurants. You can take a short cut through a small park. Ask for a double room, worth the supplement as people I spoke to said single rooms were very cramped.

Is there a dress code for half board evening meals?
Answer from Globetrotter08uk

No dress code as such, but it’s a family run business and they were always smartly presented in the dining areas, so we followed suit. Casual to smart clothes were worn by most people, but some obviously came in straight from the beach etc, but were accepted too.
