Hotel Mediterraneo Sorrento emerges as a favorite for its array of top-tier amenities, such as the inviting pool and the sky bar, celebrated for its panoramic views. While the rooms are admired for their aesthetic appeal and vistas, some guests have noted the limited storage options. The hotel's location earns accolades for its scenic surroundings and ease of access to Sorrento, with the shuttle service adding to the convenience. Although the cost of certain luxuries like the bar receives mixed reviews, the hotel's commitment to cleanliness and the staff's exceptional service contribute to its reputation as an idyllic retreat, particularly for couples seeking a tranquil atmosphere.

Good things: Consistently friendly and helpful staff with excellent English. They're great. Hotel seems scrupulously clean. Lots and anti-bac hand cleaner available. Staff politely ensured that masks were worn by both staff and guests in shared areas. Good location and stunning views over the Bay of Naples every morning at breakfast and from the lovely rooftop bar. Excellent restaurant – one of the best meals we had in Sorrento. Large, well maintained pool area (very comfortable beds) with plenty of places to get out of the sun if you need to. Pool bar and café offers a wide menu including very tasty pizzas made in an oven right by the bar. Sant'Agnello is a quiet little suburb, but there are a couple of other decent restaurants nearby. Well stocked mini bar with tasty snacks. The one mile walk to Sorrento was pretty easy to navigate.

Less good: Our room on the fourth floor was quite small which meant that storage for clothing was limited. I had to live out of my luggage for the week. The bathroom was also a little cramped. When the restaurant (on the fifth floor) and rooftop bar were used for a wedding, we had to use ear plugs to get any sleep. The only English language TV channels were CNN and BBC World News (there were 3-4, non-news channels in French and German). Aircon seemed to struggle to maintain a consistent temperature in the room, which made sleeping difficult. The walk to Sorrento lacked decent pavement in a number of areas. A taxi from Sorrento back to the hotel cost almost €25.

Response from pietro monti, Marketing at Hotel Mediterraneo Sorrento
Responded 4 Oct 2020
Dear valued customer, thank you for being our guest and for sharing your thoughts on TA. We care about our guest feedback. We are happy to know you enjoyed your holidays at Mediterraneo. We struggled a lot this year to make things go "normally". About the negative points of your review we would like to apologize for the inconveniences and at same time to give you feedback and to offer information to future guests. Our rooms are on the small side. Building is from 1912 and it is not possible to change easily roomplan. Anyway last winter we refurbished all the rooms and joined some of them to create junior suites. Entry level rooms are quite small (18-20 sqm) but with all the comfort and with large showers (despite of small size of some bathrooms). Deluxe rooms and JS are larger of course. On our website and on our booking on line is well specified room size. Unfortunately if you book trough a wholesaler you can miss some info. Hotel Mediterraneo is a lively hotel. We run events almost everyday. Most of them are public like the famous Aperitif at our skybar while a few are private. We play music almost every night but never too loud and always stopping it at midnight. The bad side of this is that sometime before midnight you can hear some music. The good side is that you can enjoy special events almost every day and that you are in the hot spot of Sorrentocoast, or as we say right into #theplacetobe. During "normal" seasons we run complimentary shuttle bus to rhe center of Sorrento. This year we stopped the service due to Covid restrictions to ensure guests safety. Unfortunately in Sorrento taxi are expensive and also if main square is just 1,5 km far from the hotel they could charge sometimes the ridiculous rate of euro 25 for a 5 minutes run. We are asking since 10 years fair taxi rates and the 50 meters of lacking sidewalk to the local authorities. We hope your review will help us! Finally we will follow your suggestion and put some more foreign channels on our tv (which ars anyway smart tv where you can watch your netflix or amazon or apple movies/music). We look forward to welcome you back soon to earn the missing score! Best regards Pietro Monti

In this hotel everything is exceptional and it perfectly justifies the five stars. Already on arrival we were welcomed with the utmost kindness and we immediately felt connected. The rooms sufficiently large, very clean, modern furnished, with enough USB ports for the mobile devices and a beautiful view on the sea, immediately filled us with joy and satisfaction. The area with the swimming pool is worth seeing and very generously designed. The Pool Bar offers an extensive range of drinks and food is also offered. An hourly transfer to Sorrento is provided as the hotel is located just outside. The immediate surroundings of the hotel were not so spectacular, so we use the shuttle regularly. After Rome and Naples, Sorrento surprised us a bit, as it is very touristy. But there are plenty of shopping opportunities and plenty of restaurants, so time flies quickly here.
But here the hotel restaurant must also be mentioned. Dishes are offered at the highest level and we can really recommend it. The wine list is very extensive and also covers all expectations. We spent a wonderful and unforgettable evening here. Breakfast is also served in the restaurant. It is very extensive and egg dishes as well as drinks are individually prepared and served. Under no circumstances you should miss a cocktail on the roof terrace at sunset, because it is unforgettable! However, a reservation is required as it is very popular. And once again we must highlight exceptional kindness and unobtrusive care of all the staff who gave us this warm and pleasant stay! Thanks.

I lost count on how many times I've been in Mediterraneo but in the end I can find no reason why to change. The staff is very helpful, funny, professional when appropriate; almost family. Mentioning only one of them would not be correct, they are all great people.
The hotel itself is very well located near the seaside giving amazing views at breakfast or at sunset from the sky-bar. But even more important: It’s a hotel to relax. Located in a quiet area, no street noises, plenty of room in the garden for sitting around the pool, having a drink or a small lunch. The pool is very well maintained by Amerigo 😊.
In the evenings the sky-bar is amazing.
The hotel is very clean, the rooms had a makeover, very well done.
Sorrento, St-Agnello, Piano di Sorrento, are all on 10 min. walking distance. Ideal for shopping and wining and dining. Restaurants with (very) tasty food in the vicinity are too numerous too to mention.
From the nearby railway station lots of attractive or touristic places can easily be reached: Pompei, Ercolano, Stabia, Vesuvio, Napoli, and many more. From Sorrento harbor Capri, Positano, Amalfi, Ischia an Napoli can be reached by regular ferry service. Mediterraneo has a safe parking area for cars or even bicycles…
The staff did an amazing job to reopen the hotel in this hectic and pandemic period. It is now even more as ever the safest most relaxing place on earth.

We only stayed one night but we really wished we would have stayed longer! It was absolutely one of the best hotels I ever stayed in. No doubt that the impeccable service of the friendly staff takes the whole experience to the next level. Special thanks to Mr. Aniello at the front desk who not only arranged for us to have a late check-out free of charge, but also helped me to organize the rest our trip. The Vesuvio restaurant at the 5th floor is also splendid. Again, the staff is incredible, the food is absolutely delicious, the chef made up a vegan menu for us on the spot (to me this proofs a chef has real skills!). And of course, the view is amazing. We felt very welcome and we will be back for sure!

We have just returned from another fantastic stay. If anything this holiday felt even more special given the current circumstances in the world. Having got married at this hotel in 2018 and visiting multiple, there was no doubt in our minds that when we could travel again this would be the first hotel we stayed at.

From the moment we arrived it was like being greeted by friends. The hotel has put in some safety measures, which are great to give you the balance of feeling safe and also being able to relax and enjoy your holiday. Being able to have a week of normality has been wonderful.

The reception and the room makeovers are stylish, chic but practical and the rooms are light, airy and classy. The new showers are amazing as is the hotel hair dryer. Being frequently on holiday we have never found such a powerful and excellent hairdryer at a hotel.

We had the opportunity to stay in a garden Room with a balcony and also a relaxed room at the front of the hotel with a sea view. Both were perfection and cleaned thoroughly each day. Again important at this time.

We spent most of our time around the fabulous pool and garden area enjoying lovely lunches and drinks. The staff were on hand to get you a drink whenever you wanted one. The area is well maintained.

We enjoyed two dinners at the restaurant and multiple nights at the Skybar. The atmosphere and care was professional yet personable.

Overall this is an incredible hotel with its fabulous location, staff and amenities. We cannot recommend it enough especially at this time where you want to feel your in a safe and trusted environment, while still feeling like your on holiday.

We can't wait to return and we look forward to many more years and memories at this hotel

Let me start my review by complimenting management and staff for working so hard to comply with procedures for Covid 19, they have done such a wonderful job, and put in so many safety measures to ensure that the guests are protected, you really do feel safe . In an unprecedented time it was so good to feel relaxed and at ease while enjoying our holiday in Italy this year , and it meant so much that our hosts made us , as always feel so special . For anybody wanting to have that special holiday, and feel safe , this hotel is for you , clean , ever improving facilities ,( love the new garden furniture) and in such a wonderful position . From the moment you arrive at the hotel until the moment you leave , the staff are always there to ensure your experience is the very best . Beautifully refurbished rooms this year , a lovely spa to relax and pamper if you want to , superb views from Vesuvio restaurant as you enjoy your breakfast , clean and well maintained pool area , looked after by The amazing Americo ! Who will make sure you have all you need while you sunbathe . Great poolside bar tended by Arturo, Guiseppe and Luigi ! Have one of Benitos pizzas !
The Vista Sky bar ( the jewel in the crown) is an absolute must visit , the sunset views as you sip a cocktail, or two, are absolutely breathtaking . To the management and every single member of staff , in a very difficult year , you have once again raised the bar , and can be proud of your beautiful , and safe hotel . To Francesco , Sergio , Pietro , Nello , Pina , Alessia , Franco , Salvatore ,Constanzo , Arturo , Giuseppe , Luigi, Benito , Americo et al thank you , for being ( in this challenging year ) “ the place to be “

Currently staying at this hotel and it’s amazing! Was so happy to find this little gem after scrolling 25 pages or more on booking.com! The location is perfect and in the heart of Sorrento with a rooftop bar, beautiful restaurant views and also a stunning pool. The room is absolutely stunning and very modern with marble tiles and gold features - lovely to see especially when most hotels in Italy are quite dated with the decor. The receptionists are lovely, and couldn’t be any more helpful! Would definitely recommend this hotel as it is perfect.

We stayed at Hotel Mediterraneo for our honeymoon and it was just fantastic. The hotel is immaculate and in a beautiful setting overlooking Mount Vesuvius. We had breakfast on the terrace every morning and heaters were provided on the chillier days, and the quality and variety of the breakfast was excellent.
All of the staff went out of their way to make our stay comfortable, with Pina and Salvatore kindly leaving us a bottle in our room to celebrate on our first day. Americo couldn’t have been nicer and was always on hand with fresh towels and drinks around the pool and took some lovely photos for us to remember our honeymoon by.
The hotel was fairly quiet during our stay, which added to the feeling of privacy and exclusivity. We indulged in a couple’s massage/spa treatment and had the spa to ourselves for the best part of 3 hours.
A really special touch for us was the trip we took in the hotel’s yacht to Capri under the expertise of Skipper Marco who (despite it being a rather windy day!) made our experience unforgettable.
We wanted to go all-out for our honeymoon and felt that this hotel and its staff did everything they could to make this a holiday to remember - from booking last minute tours to the Amalfi coast to late night room service, we have no complaints and will hopefully come back again in the future.

This was the first hotel we stayed at on our honeymoon to the Amalfi Coast and we were blown away by everything—the location, the spectacular view from our balcony, the sparkling oasis of the pool, the warm and friendly service. The hotel is modern and fresh, beautifully decorated and meticulously clean. Aniello took very good care of us; he makes all guests feel like VIPs. Don't miss the restaurant or the rooftop bar! The location is peaceful and away from the crowds—but the hotel offers a free shuttle bus that will take you 5 minutes to the city center. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

At Mediterraneo you feel safe, surrounded by a team of really lovely people from the owners to the guest relations and maitre.
The style is contemporary with touches of classic feel. The unique position, 70 metres from sea level, allow stunning views 360 degrees from the Vesuvius to the hills behind the hotel. Unforgettable sunset from the lounge bar, but also from the love seat in the bedroom. Grazie!
