Detailed Reviews
Are you finding a hotel, a perfect one? With an adorable staff, you should come here... Why? Because the food is so good, the room is perfect, the staff is just... ADORABLE. This is a hotel where you can have a magical stay... The garden is just so beautiful... I thought I was in the paradise!
What again... The pool! It's big, a lot of chairs, somewhere you can chill alone, with your family or your friends, with a small and cozy bar! People who are saying there is some mosquitoes here and saying it's the staff fault, but, it's not there fault! They gave me a cream anti-mosquito!
People who are saying what there is no air conditioner in their room, yes there is... It's with good quality and you can adjust the temperature. And if there is a problem, the staff is coming immediately with some assistance.
The breakfast is good, the pastries are so good! It's handmade! And the rooms are perfect, all is perfect here!
Definitely recommend this hotel if you want a magical stay...

Last day of our week at Don Camillo and it has been superb. A peaceful idyllic oasis away from downtown Sorrento set in beautiful grounds. The pool is excellent so it’s easy to just spend time here and escape the hustle and bustle of the area. The staff have been lovely and the food is very good. Would highly recommend.

Yes a very pretty and clean room, located in a secluded area in the gardens of the villa. BUT we paid for luxury in what was advertised as a relaxing and tranquil setting. Nothing could be further from that description. From the very first day, we heard repetitive shouting cries, from what sounded like a distressed elderly lady. This constant repetitive cry prevailed throughout every single evening, way into the night, either keeping us awake or waking us when asleep. Night after night after night, during our whole 2 week stay. Certainly not relaxing, certainly not tranquil. When we brought it up with the hotel (on many occasions) we were told it was owls in the woods close by ! We investigated where the noise could be coming from, behind our room, hidden behind a trellis fence was another room, evidence of an elderly person living there, lots of old lady clothes and old vests hung over an old chair.
I have a recording on my phone of these distressing cries, Italian voices shouting at this person, then three harrowing wails could be heard.
Not what you expect from a luxurious accommodation in what’s described in the brochure as a relaxing tranquil setting !!
Additional to this, the villa advertised complimentary transport into Sorrento, numerous times a day. We had clarified prior to booking that this would still be running when we were there. BUT on arrival were informed transport would not be available. Leaving us to have to use public busses and trains, hours of waiting around and having to walk along traffic choked roads to get to the public bus and train station. Sorrento was nearly an hour walk away.
Our travel agent were very helpful (miles morgan) and sorted with the hotel for transport to be put back on, but it was a week before this could be arranged. We were advised to use taxis and then bill the tour operator Citailia on our return. We booked through Citaila and this villa is exclusive to them.
On arriving back in England we wrote to Citalia with our concerns over the distressing constant cries and complaint re transport, to be told they had spoken to the hotelier with our concerns and they said they cannot confirm where the noise was coming from, suggesting it was a guest or neighbour ! There were NO neighbours in the vicinity and we were often the only guests there ! Further reviews are also on trip advisor from people who have stayed in the garden room, of also hearing distressing constant shouting. These date back over the past year. So again clearly not a guest !
Citalia reponded with “personal expectations and experiences differ in all hotels” . All we were expecting was a tranquil, relaxing holiday, as advertised in their brochure, with complimentary transport, again as advertised by the villa, exclusive to Citalia.
We paid over £3000 for our holiday in what we were expecting to be a relaxed, tranquil environment.
This was clearly not experience that met us.
Citaila offered us a £100 ;Citaila voucher as a gesture of goodwill. This doesn’t even cover our taxi fares for the week transport was not provided.
I call it an insult.

We were so excited to stay at this hotel after reading the reviews, and had booked for a two night stay. Sadly we ended up having a stressful stay.
We were staying in one of the two garden rooms and quickly realised that the family who own the villa live in the room underneath. We heard regular shouting from the grandmother of the family who owns the villa which we both found quite upsetting, not the relaxing ambience you expect to have when paying for "luxury". This shouting continued right from the moment we arrived and continued into the night and early in the morning. Whilst we are incredibly sympathetic to this situation, we did not feel it was appropriate to build a hotel so closely around the family grounds.
As a result despite the fact the rooms are all fitted out to an excellent standard in beautiful surroundings, the shouting just put a downer on our stay.
On a side note we would add that we found there was a lack of atmosphere in the villa during the evening dinner and would have also appreciated more information about the local area- as the villa is quite remote, if you do not have a car you are reliant on buses and taxis.

My husband & I stayed at the Don Camillo for 2 weeks, & thanks to the location & staff every day was a delight. The hotel is small & therefore far more personal than a large multi storey hotel. All the staff from the owners to the gardeners were lovely. Maria the breakfast waitress was so sweet & always remembered our preferences for breakfast, where apart from continental you could order various eggs & toast. Federica was very helpful & both she & Maria spoke excellent English. The swimming pool was lovely, in fact a couple of days we had it all to ourselves all day ! We had a junior suite which had a private terrace ( Euphorbia ) it was about a 10 minute walk into St Agnello but that meant it was very quiet especially at night. If you are looking for somewhere quiet & tranquil this is THE place to go.

A wonderful 9 days spent at Villa Don Camillo Relais. Our room was spacious and beautifully equipped. The shower-room also very spacious and with good quality furnishings! Fantastic to wake up to a beautiful view across the gardens and the hillside. All the staff including Maria and Federica, we so helpful and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic food- delicious breakfast, with fruits picked straight from the trees- lovely! Can Recommend the lunches and dinner here too. Even drinks were served with some home made cake/ biscuits! A great place to stay- loved the relaxing gardens and pool and close enough to be able to easily get into Sorrento, without being in the middle of all the noise! Federica and Maria,- Thank you for making our holiday so special.

Location was great. 10 minutes walk to the train station but far enough out of the hustle of Sorrento. Lovely breakfasts with freshly baked breads and beautiful omelettes. Outstanding chef. Try their tasting menu! Very nice, family owned boutique hotel. With only 7 bedrooms it felt like a private villa.

We stayed for 10 days here. Found the room acceptable, but not outstanding. It's pretty but not great facilities, for example poor wifi and the swimming pool was freezing cold and infested with mosquitos. Dinner and other light meals were outrageously overpriced and, in all honesty, not very good. The absence of a bar or place to just sit out and chill away from the room was notable.
Complete absence of any basic local information such as shops, restaurants, amenities was incredibly annoying, particularly given the remote location. I also suspect some vested interests in terms of withholding information or being misleading - on one occasion we were told that we'd need to get a v costly taxi to the beach when it was a simple 1.60 euro bus ride away.
It is a good 40 mins walk into Sorrento along traffic choked and quite dangerous roads.

Stayed here for 4 nights and loved every minute. With only 7 rooms in extensive grounds, it’s an oasis of calm close to the beautiful hustle and bustle of Sorrento. We walked into central Sorrento every day which took about 25 minutes. The villa also offer a shuttle minibus service which is welcome too. The staff were attentive and welcoming, couldn’t do enough for us and made the stay so enjoyable. The food was absolutely wonderful too on an evening when we didn’t want to go into town. We’ll be back someday and recommend here and to all our friends.
