This is basically a two-star hotel stuck in a motorway services area. There's nothing within walking distance and when asked how we get into Florence on public transport, the answer was 'when and if it runs'. Possibly the worst possible choice for a visit to Florence. No real complaints about the rooms, the usual modern, clean, functional stuff. The separate bar in the lobby was never open so you have to order drinks from the restaurant area if you can attract the attention of one of the staff and if they feel like doing it. You're then 'encouraged' to leave around ten when they shut the whole thing down. There's just a complete air of indifference about the place. Sorry, but it's hard to find anything endearing about it. I was glad we were only there for two nights.
Free parking for hotel guests, fast check-in, small lift covering 8 floors, old-fashioned dirty hotel rooms, cheap solutions for everything - led strips instead of normal lights... Terrible breakfast, no service whatsoever - dirty and unprepared tables. In comparison to other Italian hotels, it was really the worst one.
Hotel located next to a motorway closed to Florence city. The lobby area looks nice and with standard decoration. Staff at reception is nice and friendly as well as efficient. The rooms are standard but nice for this type of motorway hotel. It was clean and good overall. The price of a night stay is fair and is good value for money. The hotel has few years already and in some areas looks dated. The restaurant serves great dinner meals at very good prices. The parking is big with plenty of space for large vehicles.
as part of a package tour this hotel was below expectations, bed was okay but the bathroom had brown running water when first turned on, the shower head was falling of the wall. the breakfast was below average
My wife and I recently spent two nights at the Gate and were disgusted by the standard offered by the hotel and staff. We were with a Tripadeal group ( 44 people) who arrived early evening at the same time as another tour group. We were greeted with a queue at least 80mts long with lifts that could only handle 2 people ( with bags) each trip. Most customers spent an hour attempting to get to their rooms. The restaurant had a menu in both Italian and English, unfortunately the translations described incorrect meals,, bad luck if you had an allergy. The breakfast room , incapable of handling a large group, produced extremely poor standard ( and cold) food, which most avoided. The hotel which is advertised as a Florence hotel was nothing more than a truck stop many miles from the city with poor public transport. If this hotel is on your travel agenda, be prepared.…
This hotel very average. Lifts very small and slow especially when there are groups booked in. Room small, bed linen clean. Not near major tourist spot. Breakfast basic. Toiletries supplied. Bath towels clean. Room small.
Clean rooms, large and comfortable beds. Mini fridge and air conditioning in every room. Helpful and friendly service. Free parking. Good location, just off the highway. Delicious breakfasts in the hotel restaurant. Only the internet is very slow
Several disinterested staff (not all), arguments over city tax, horrible breakfast, single two petson lift to service 8 floors, basic room with a blocked sink... staff response... dont use it! We were part of a group booking travelling Italy. This was by far the worst hotel we experienced. Apparently this captive market get short changed at the Gate.
The hotel is far away from the center and don't have restaurants or village near by. Its clean but I don feel the air conditioning, the hall was so hot. The elevators was tiny. The room was clean and the bathroom to, and have products. The restaurant is good, a little bit expensive. The employees was little bit unfriendly. The breakfast was a chaos. The employees assigned you the area were you eat. The breakfast was not good. The orange juice was bad. The waiter yell to me because I take some food to take out for snack. No good experience.
I'm very surprised that this hotel is rated ad 4-stars hotel. The room is very run down and old. Let's started with the entry. The reception was ok. Nothing fancy. The lifts... there are only 2 lifts servicing 9 floors with a capacity of 4 people max. 5 if you are quite thin. (*yes please figure it yourself how convenient to go in and out from your room) The room... the only way to explain it is, very thin and old walls. You can literally hear everything surrounding your room. I can literally hear a loud music party going through my wall atm. Even the wallpapers are trying to run away from the room. (*peeling itselfs out from the wall) We also found a hair in one of our pillow. Yea... talking about the cleanliness... No perks like cattle is available btw. Overall, this has been my worse 4-stars hotel experiences in my whole life. Very not recommended.…
