Detailed Reviews
We spent 2 days / 1 night at the Ovidius hotel. The location is the best in the town is Sulmona, to walk to the city center through the gardens next to the famous church. The reception is marvellous, wooden floor with beautiful art and a great bar where we always feel welcomed. We had a wonderful dinner there with local recipes and very good local biodynamic rosé wine advised by the owner. The rooms are very comfortable, good choice of tv channels and great view. Breakfast was amazing with a great view on the mountains and the trees. Very relaxing.
We are looking forward to visit again and try the spa and the cooking class !

definitely the best solution for staying in Sulmona, taking advantage of both the guided tour of the city and the day on the historic train. the hotel is very nice both internally and externally with a good contrast between classic and modern, elegant but not austere. impeccable cleanliness, very good quality of both breakfast and dinner (choice between three courses that vary every day for the first and second courses, normal breakfast with good artisan products, both sweet and savory), courtesy, kindness and above-average customer attention . note of merit to the owner Mariadora, a very sweet girl who is very knowledgeable in always dispensing good advice and welcoming customers in the best possible way. excellent value for money. I wasn't able to make the most of the spa as they are renovating it, but soon when it will be fully operational again, I think you can't ask for anything else.
I highly recommend choosing this hotel, also for its location a stone's throw from the center and about 1 km from the station with the possibility of leaving the car in the private car park and being able to enjoy the local attractions on foot (if necessary there is also the bus stop right in front of the hotel if you want to travel to the station without walking).

The quality of the service offered is excellent.
The buffet breakfast was very good and plentiful, with local pastry products.
Comfortable, quiet, large and clean room.
Staff (reception and lounge) kind, friendly and professional.
Strategic location: very convenient hotel for traveling by car and a few minutes (on foot) from the municipal villa / historic center of Sulmona.
Private parking, included in the room price, makes the difference.
Prices not low, but in line with the type of structure and the Christmas period.
The restaurant and the SPA are worth trying.
An excuse to return.

The rooms are spacious and very clean, and the beds were the most comfortable of all the places we stayed in Italy. Breakfast was very nice, with many offerings and a very accommodating staff. The location is within walking distance to restaurants and sights, and the hotel restaurant is good, too. The staff was very helpful, arranging transportation to the national park, and also to the nearby town of Scanno, which was one of the highlights of the visit. Sulmona itself is fun to explore for its Roman aqueduct, gates, etc. And to top it off, the hotel spa is a treat, and the massage some of us received from Nathalie was lovely. I could have stayed longer.

We returned to Sulmona after the 3yr Covid break. Mariadora and her sister Gemma provided an amazing experience everyday of our stay. The Hotel is emmaculately clean. The food is made fresh everyday by Chef's. Breakfasts are to die for. The view of the mountains in the breakfast area in the morning sets your day up , ready to go.
Louann and I would like to thank all of the staff, Tania at breakfast, got my coffee (espresso) just perfect each day, the ladies at the front desk were so helpful with english to italian translation. They would not hesitate to make a telephone call for me in italian, And little Ari, keep riding your bike, we loved your dessert.

+1
We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights in late March. We find it to be in an excellent location to explore the town of Sulmona; but also close to main roads for day trips or into the countryside to other towns. There is free parking out front if you happen to get one of the white curb parking spots. Or, the hotel had more parking around back with a gate opened by your room key. There is a restaurant on site serving high quality food. Our stay had breakfast buffet included which was quite extensive. Staff members were all very friendly. Special mention to Ari on the front desk and Tanya in the breakfast room. Everyone else was pleasant and helpful too. Walking distance to countless restaurants and the historical centre of Sulmona.

In lovely spring weather we had 2 nights at this very fine hotel with direct view to the snowcapped mouintains.
Reception friendly and fast.
Room was quiet, full view to Gran Sasso!
Fine beds, fine bathroom.
Breakfast was indeed very good and a very warm service at breakfast.

This hotel was perfectly situated in Sulmona. The staff that checked us in was not over friendly or even a little friendly ... but there were others that were certainly friendly, kind and helpful. The room was enough in size and the bathroom was large enough, but the shower was funny .... looked like a space tube. The breakfast was a light fare but enough.

From Palermo to Sulmona for the Parks Train. I stayed for 5 nights at the hotel Santa Croce Ovidius recently built and structured with intelligence.Rooms, bathrooms, spacious shower and furnished with modern and simple furniture. Minibar, TV, WI and other utilities made your stay comfortable. Panoramic elevator. Hearty and varied continental breakfast. Dinners with traditional local first courses, include meat or fish main courses. side dishes and desserts. All prepared with mastery . Continental breakfast plentiful and varied. The dinners in addition to the first course of the local tradition, include alternate meat or fish, always gustose.Per not to mention the staff everything, professional, prepared, educated and together with the owner available to give directions for more suggestive itineraries. And finally in the evening I had the pleasure of listening to Maestro Francesco Mammola on the piano, already present in RAI programs and various concerts, with Jazz, Swing and other music that enchanted those present. Thank you very much for your hospitality and recommend this Hotel Santa Croce Ovidius in Sulmona.

Modern hotel, very nice, in a great location near the center, within walking distance.
Remarkable parking inside, where I left the car for the entire stay.
The Management , very attentive to the well-being of the customer and his needs, was more 'than friendly and reserved us a very comfortable room.
The breakfast was great and plentiful. I hope to return to Sulmona and stay again in this Hotel Monica from Reggio Emilia
