We came extremely late to the hotel without no booking. Mr Antonio was so nice to us and kindly offer us a place we could overnight. We had a very short stop but long enough to realize this was a perfect stay. The place was very clean, the breakfast delicious especially the coffee, the swimming pool very cozy and the personal so nice. We highly recommend this place. Thanks Antonio and Sylvia.
Back in April I booked flights for my Wife & I to Genoa.....basically because of the price. Then came the problem of where to base ourselves. After hours of perusing different websites I plumped for Varazze & the Hotel Coccodrillo. Because there were few recent reviews it was a gamble but how wrong was I in that assumption. This Hotel was first class, friendly, clean, welcoming, a plentiful breakfast & a great pool. It is older & smallish but it had a great feel to it, we loved it. Varazze was fabulous. Enough to keep you occupied with plenty of bars & restaurants available. The Marina is another attractive feature of the town, easily linked to the main resort. The great thing with our holiday is that we did'nt encounter anyone else from the UK in the 10 days we were there, funnily enough, just what the doctor ordered. For days out, Genoa is 45 minutes away with Savona, a hidden gem, just 11 minutes away, both easily accessible by train. We walked to Cogoleto along the reclaimed coastal path, a beautiful walk with lovely little coves to enjoy on the way. Mostly we strolled & enjoyed the town itself, a drink, some food, Italian Ice Creams, really what more could we have wanted. Special mention to Blakes Bar on the way back to the hotel. Not the most welcoming from the outside, inside it looks rather gloomy but this is where we had our late night Gin & Lemons. Again looks are deceiving, but again we were made very welcome by the bar staff & locals alike, always a great way to end the night. Would we visit again? Without a shadow of doubt, a fabulous holiday. Thank You Varazze & thank you Hotel Coccodrillo, you gave us a lovely break. Oh, one special mention to Davide & the staff in the Restaurant, you were superb, friendly & attentive. Thank You all.…
This is a 1950’s tired Hotel, across the road from the railway and having a new apartment block being built across the road. Full of young families with pre school aged children...in a tired Hotel needing a top to toe renovation. Nice welcoming staff, however this is what you’ll find here. I didn’t even take photos
We booked this hotel through booking.com and did not know what to expect as we had not been to Varazze before. We were not disappointed. We all agreed as a party of 5 adults in two rooms that we would give this little friendly hotel a rating of 5, some might not agree due to the decor or facilities but we based it more on our experience and the fact the staff couldn’t do enough for us. As five females we felt very safe, the hotel is in a great location and 2 minutes from the marina and seafront. There is a supermarket close by and lots of choices for food. The underpass is not as daunting as we thought it would be but if you don’t like it you can walk an alternative way. We had breakfast in the hotel one morning and it was a continental but with good choices. The manager even made me runny eggs as I don’t like cold hard boiled ones. He also printed off maps and train times and helped us plan our journey to Portofino, definitely worth a visit, we took a train from Varazze - hotel is 1 minute away and then we got a ferry across to Portofino from Santa Margherita train station, highly recommend. We have only arrived home today but we all said we would return, very few English and most of the menus are in Italian but they are very welcoming at the hotel and the town and genuinely want you to enjoy it there. Added bonus is that gelato is amazing here! Highly recommend the hotel and Varazze. …
Stayed here for a week late October. Excellent location as just a short walk from the train station, the marina and Old Town. The hotel is dated but clean. The shower in my room was quite small. Due to the time of year, only breakfast was available. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Dog friendly.
