Stayed for two nights in May 2022. Very happy with the location with a beautiful view of the Gulf of Naples, sunsets, and Mt Vesuvius. The staff was helpful and friendly, and particularly the maitre d', I think his name was Rolando (?), was quite jovial.

The restaurant was good - we ate there the first night as we arrived late and the hotel is not within easy walking distance to anywhere - and the breakfasts were above average compared to the 3 other hotels we stayed in throughout Italy at a similar price range. The shuttle was very helpful due to the location and easy to arrange.

The room was simple with a firm mattress and basic nightstands and tables. The AC only circulated air so the room was a bit stuffy at night as it wasn't easy to keep the balcony door open with the wind and the road noise also carried when open (it was quiet with the door closed).

The staff at the hotel are all very lovely, helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble.
We literally got the last room which was comfortable with a great bathroom equipped with a really good shower and great smelling toiletries. The staff cleaned the room every day and made the comfy bed.

The view from the terrace is just amazing, I took so many photos.

The pool area is good too and as the pool is raised you can take in the views from there also.

Breakfast is amazing; fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurts, cakes, pastries, cheeses, eggs, bacon etc. The staff can’t do enough to help, they will make you omelettes/eggs and although there is a coffee machine they also will make fresh espressos too.

There is a pizza oven and we stayed for the pizza evening and tried a few different ones.

You can’t really walk anywhere from the hotel but the shuttle bus will take you/collect you from the town and beach.

My friend and I have just had a truly fantastic holiday in this fabulous hotel. We both had beautifully appointed rooms and the view from the terrace looking across to Mt Vesuvius was absolutely stunning!
From the moment we first arrived nothing was too much trouble. There really is the most wonderful sense of family amongst the staff, who were always smiling and who clearly cared about one another. Maria in particular was an absolute delight.
Renato is a brilliant manager and works the dining room with consummate professionalism, making sure that every guest is made to feel special. We ate in the hotel every night as the food was superb. Bravo Bruno and all your team. We enjoyed every mouthful! The pasta class one evening was an unexpected bonus and one that we enjoyed immensely.
The shuttle bus gave us easy access to Vico Equense , where we used the local, very inexpensive train service, to visit Pompeii (not to be missed) and Sorrento.
Sometimes, we were just happy to sit on the terrace or in the garden for a few hours to chill out and read. There was always someone on hand to make us a drink or a snack, so it was wonderfully relaxing.
Grazie mille Torre Barbara. We hope to return again one day.

We had a really wonderful stay here from 20th July until 3rd August. We were warmly welcomed by Benedetta and Mirella. I managed to save my sickness for holiday time so arrived with progressively getting worse laryngitis but the ladies were lovely, ensuring I knew to get sick some honey from the restaurant. The room was clean and tidy with good quality air conditioning…but it had to stay on top speed because when we put it on 1 or 2 it was too noisy and disturbed our sleep. We had room 304 which overlooks the terrace and you see Vesuvius and the sea but is not roadside so I feel we benefitted from that. The hotel us on a busy road still the sound of the traffic would be heard more on the roadside. Maria, in the restaurant was superb. Great service. She even made us coffee and provided pastries on early morning check out - we got a hug too!
The menu for evening meal did not give much variety so we only had 1 in the hotel. The value for money for food and drink wasn’t great. €9 for 66cl bottle of Peroni - the same cost us €7 even at a tourist trap restaurant opposite the entrance to Pompei.
But still, there is a free shuttle bus to Vico Equense where there are some nice restaurants and Murphy’s Law is a good value eatery just a short walk away. The bus takes you to the train station where for €2.40 you can enjoy a 15 or so minute journey to Sorrento or Pompei. We also did a day trip up to Naples for €4 each way and even ventured further afield and did an impromptu 2 night stay in Rome too!

We had an amazing week at this hotel, the staff go above and beyond and are so helpful & friendly. We loved having breakfast on their beautiful terrace & served the best cappuccino ever overlooking the ocean with an amazing view of mount Vesuvius. We upgraded to a room (402) with a private balcony which was perfect to sit on with a drink overlooking the breathtaking view. Rooms were spotless & clean and perfect size.
Admittedly, there is a bit of travelling back and forth to Sorrento but well worth being out of the hustle & bustle and taking advantage of the shuttle bus to get to the beach & train station for onward ventures. First trip to Italy but will definitely be back!

ps A net at the pool would be helpful to remove any rouge bugs which gather.

The room was very clean and well equipped. The staff was very friendly and professionall, and did everything with a personal touch. The terrasse and restaurant area is beautiful and has a spectacular view towards the Neaples Bay and Vesuvio. The pool area is small and enjoys the same view. As the hotel is rather small, we felt at home throughout our stay. We can also recommend the food, - good Italian kitchen.

The location of the hotel is a little inconvenient, but the hotel offers a shuttle service to the beach and the closest town, which is well connected with train, bus and boat. The staff was very helpful and gave advise on how to best explore the region, including Capri, Amalfi, Pompeii and Neaples.

Stayed at Torre Barbara for a week in July with my teenage son. Having read some of the poor reviews I was a little apprehensive but I should not have worried.
This hotel is absolutely fantastic and the staff even more so. They can not do enough for you; taking the time to learn your name, your breakfast order, your holiday plans etc. We were greeted like family each time we made an appearance and many members of staff made an effort to find us to say Ciao when we left.
Massive thank you to Maria, Armando, Angela & Mirella especially for making our stay so memorable.
The restaurant is fantastic and the food exceptional. If you fancy a cheaper option or a pizza the shuttle service will take you to the local marina or the local town where there are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from.
The shuttle runs on time to a set time table so it’s easy to plan your comings and goings if you don’t have a car.
You can’t walk anywhere from the hotel - the road is narrow and busy with no pavement and is placed high on a cliff.
The views are therefore outstanding overlooking Vesuvius, the local town and the sea. It’s breathtaking.
Much have been written about the road noise and yes, the hotel is perched above a busy coastal road so expect some road noise.
It did not bother us - the view more than makes up for it.
The pool and pool area is lovely and the rooms modern and clean with everything you need.
We hope to be back one day - thank you all for a lovely holiday

Excellent one night stay here at this wonderfully staffed hotel. We broke up our journey with an overnight stay in between Alborobello and Rome. We stayed in room 305 and it was adequate and clean. We had some issues with the aircon not working and it being very hot in the loft bedroom but the room was very clean with fresh towels, clean and fresh bed linen and many accessories in the bathroom. Not the best sleep of my life but I’m not complaining.
We enjoyed an afternoon swim with swimming towels provided by the hotel.
We ate at the terrace restaurant for dinner and the staff are very attentive and lovely. Try the lamb! The food was delicious and they had many options for children (not on the menu) if you just ask. Shout out to Maria in the restaurant who made us feel welcome and bent over backwards to accommodate us. She happily made us some cappuccino’s with our own oat milk we brought with us. Aurora on the front desk was very helpful and friendly.

We were 2 couples, who stayed 11 nights. The staff were all polite, pleasant, friendly and extremely helpful. The breakfast was more than enough to keep you happy till an evening meal, depending on your appetite. The rooms were cleaned daily and the cleaners were lovely. The receptionists were really helpful with any issues we had. The bar staff and chefs were cheerful and couldn’t do anymore than they did. We ate at the hotel for 3 nights and the food was excellent. The only criticism I could make was the shuttle, to the beach and town. It wasn’t always on time and the drivers weren’t always polite. This was passed on to Renato, the manager, and he knew of the issues the shuttle caused. Renato was a great manager, with brilliant English and a great sense of humour. The hotel was a family business, and this shone through. It had a intimate atmosphere, with a family vibe, led by the father figure of Renato and the mother figure, Maria, who was amazing. The views of Naples and Vesuvius were a great selling point and were amazing.

My husband, teenage daughter & I had the most wonderful stay here. We stayed for 4 nights, but we all wished it could have been more like 40! The room was perfect to give my daughter a little bit of her own space. We especially loved breakfasts on the terrace with an unforgettable view. Every person on staff we encountered made the stay even more pleasant - we had only to make the smallest request and it was granted with a smile. We actually loved that this hotel was away from the hustle and bustle. The shuttle ride into town was easy and the restaurant on site was quite delicious. We hope to be back someday!
