The room was great and even had a fireplace that was made by staff every evening. Staff were friendly Food was ok, but no extras really available. We asked for Irish coffees, but they had no cream. The wine list limited The bar did not really exist Lunch not served

This is a fabulous place to visit, True the game drive may be described as a little zoo like but you do get to see a good selection of animals in just two hours, The stay lodge turns it all into an amazing experience, You cannot help but be thrown back into an atmosphere of yesteryear, Log fires everywhere, including...

We did a game drive here a few years ago. Game Ranger was excellent, extremely knowledgeable and fantastically humerous. We came back to stay at the Baroness Lodge - Out of Africa!!! Food magnificent, Hippo right on the front lawn, beautiful farm style 1822 built home. This is definately a place to visit. The most game we have ever seen...

My husband and I stayed here on our first night of honeymoon. From arrival to our departure we were treated so well. The ladies at reception were so friendly and full of smiles. Our room was all done up with flowers on the bed. It was such a beautiful room! The meals were delicious and we even had our own...

Worst game reserve ever. false advertising. Bats in ceiling. no sleep. Wild animals enclosed in sections. more like a big zoo. Very substandard. Food poor. reception full of ants on arrival. Charging 5 star rates for 1 star experience. Left earlier to home.

We arrived later than expected and after reception had closed. But we were greeted so warmly by Melody and Ruby and were made to feel very welcome. We had the lodge to ourselves for 2 nights and everything was tailored to suit us. The accommodation is old world colonial and fits the romantic setting perfectly. There are numerous fireplaces to...

Place was great, we went on a game drive, and saw loads of animals. Every room has a bed, a sofa set and a bathroom. I must say the lighting was a bit limited, the sofas was big chunky, old and has a bit of odour about them, the loo has no door. Pillows and bed was hard, even for...

We made a last minute booking as the place we had booked in Plett was unsatisfactory, and were welcomed by Winnie. Our three rooms were lovely: spacious and comfortable, with free standing baths and huge beds. We were unable to fit in a game drive as time was short, so we were delighted to be given a discount on our...

My husband and I visited South Africa from Australia in July/August/September last year and had the most pleasant and romantic experience of our 3 month holiday at the Lodge. The young lady looking after us, Winnie, was incredibly hospitable, warm and helpful to us during our two night stay. We originally were only planning to stay one night, but extended...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our beautiful Plett Accommodation is a historic and charming colonial-style Safari Lodge that was built in early 1800 by Baron Joachim von Plettenberg, an early South African pioneer and conservationist, who used the original, smaller Lodge as his base to explore the then untamed African landscapes. Built from local stone, the Safari Lodge has lost little of its original 'out of Africa' feel and has spectacular views across rolling lawns where zebra and antelope roam freely, to the indigenous forests and majestic Tsitsikamma mountains in the distance. ... more   less
