This is the hub of all this flying in Porterville. You get to meet loads of people at their bar and be sure to have the "Green Flash" to make it extra special. Good clean accommodation and the food is made by Terina who is great behind a fire.
A great place to stay in Porteville and ideally suited for paraglider and hangie pilots who can make use of the great flying opportunity's in the area. The new annex has large rooms, A/C,en suite, tea coffee facilities, just lacking a small fridge to chill your drinks. Good wholesome food, bar, laundry service, small pool. Landing site, if the winds right Infront of the Lodge. Secure site with parking.
We stayed here for two nights because it was on our route and sounded interesting. Because it was out of paragliding season the restaurant was closed, but they booked us into a good restaurant a very short walk away. The accommodation was good. The room was comfortable and warm. There is a large lounge/dining room, with bar, in the main building. Everybody there was very friendly and most helpful. I bet it would be difficult to find a room there in the paragliding season, and if the restaurant had been open we might have rated it 5 star. If in the area we would certainly make this our first choice.
I stayed here for about a week in January and had a great time. The rooms are clean, a good size and most importantly have good aircon. There is always good cheer and good personalities here. The food is very good. Most evenings there is a fabulous brie and afterwards everyone mills about having drinks around the bar or outside on the porch watching the sun go down, waxing lyrical about the days flying adventures.
Stayed regularly...a truly unique experience with a strong local flavor....an unbeatable paragliding experience, excellent facilities and PG knowledge available. Great for international visitors. Situated in the Swartland valley excellent wines beers and food... the west facing mountains are magnificent in the golden hour. 1-2 hours north of CT international airport...my favorite time is Oct Nov when the crops are green.😃
