We loved our visit to Hotel de l'Atelier. Villeneuve is a wonderful little town we were able to walk around (though beware; many restaurants were closed Sunday and Monday). The staff at the hotel couldn't be nicer. It was so easy to rent bicycles from the hotel and per hotel recommendations bike to Ile de Barthelasse, where there are orchards, and then on to Avignon. We loved having tea, coffee, and snacks at all times, and loved the hotel dog too! If we are ever back in the region, we'd love to come back.

Hotel's Favourite
This hotel is precious and perfect! Villeneuve-les-Avignon is a great location to base your stay, right across the river from Avignon and within walking distance if you so choose. The town is super easy to walk around, there are many restaurants nearby the hotel and so many nice people. You WON"T find a better place to stay. Adeline, Stefan, and Sylvia, too, were the most gracious and accommodating hosts ever! We stayed 5 nights in one of the "superior" rooms with the private terrace looking out at the back garden. It was quiet and lovely. Not exactly huge, but it was fine with a large wardrobe in the room and the bathroom was pretty good-sized (it's a clawfoot tub; no shower head but a handheld shower wand). The breakfast they offer is just fine, not a huge amount of food (no scrambled eggs and bacon) but fresh fruits and pastries and baked goods and the breakfast room was very neat and clean. They offer wine in the "lobby bar" (it's not a real bar but it is fine). Tea, water and pastries are available all day. When we had a restaurant cancel on us due to weather-related issues, Stefan found an absolutely perfect replacement! Adeline had been helpful all along via emails. Paid parking is a couple of blocks away, but it was worth the extra charge not to have to worry about finding a parking space on the very narrow streets each evening. I just cannot say enough NICE things about this place. You will not be sorry if you book here!

This was my second visit to Hotel l’Atelier and, like last time, I left wondering how soon I could manage to return. It is an incredibly warm and inviting place. Stephane, Adeline and Sylvia could not be more welcoming or helpful. The decor and ambience provides an environment that is utterly charming and peaceful. The courtyard and upper patio offer extra tranquil space to enjoy the hotel and provide a lovely view if your room overlooks them. Tea and pastries are available all day and the breakfast is excellent. It is a special place in just about the perfect Provencal village of Villeneuve-les-Avignon. It is a walk or short bus ride to Avignon but don’t overlook Villeneuve, there is much more to it than meets the eye at first. I will be back.

We had a hard time finding a decent but not outrageously priced hotel in the Avignon area with short notice. We ended up in this small town outside of Avignon, which was actually a better base for traveling around the area and not having to deal with the parking and congestion in Avignon. The hotel was indeed charming and we were happy with our stay in a "Charm" room, 32, which was their largest and nicest category. I would recommend for travelers who want a charming, small hotel but don't expect American-style service or breakfast. Pros: good location; free parking nearby; fantastic shower (pressure, hot water, sparkling CLEAN tile, updated); separate shower & large sink area (lots of hooks) with separate room for toilet and small sink; breakfast included great pastries, very fresh, varied and plentiful fruit and usual European-style breakfast items; very pretty property and outdoor courtyard for breakfast; owner very nice; GREAT AC (unlike many French hotels); cookies, croissants and hot water/coffee always available in lobby; nicely decorated room; VERY quiet at night; two armoires; good value. Cons: had to request and wait a while for cappuccinos a few mornings - only one person taking care of the breakfast room, making cappuccinos AND managing the desk at the same time (owner may have been away those days); breakfast included boil your own eggs, no scrambled or cooked eggs (although this is not unusual in France at smaller hotels), same plain yogurt every day, had to request ham (prosciutto), which was the only other protein; no elevator - but not too bad getting suitcases up and down three flights; no one at desk after 9:00 pm.

We stayed for a night in the bridal room. Stefan the owner could not have been more helpful. The room was beautiful with a lovely roll top bath. The breakfast was also great. The hotel is really charming and we went back the following week and were not disappointed. We will definitely come again.
