The hotel is basic, but the rooms are clean and the prices are very reasonable. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is also very well situated, opposite the station and within walking distance to tourist sites and restaurants etc. We were able to leave our car there on the day of checkout and return late afternoon...

Stayed at Hotel Bonsai after driving through France on return leg of our holiday. Rooms were clean, staff polite. Stayed in a double with bunk rooms, very hard mattresses, small pillows. Well located for ferries and tunnel, and also a short walk to various eateries on Rue Royale. Good value hotel.

The hotel is easy to find and close to the ferry port. We got a good reception and the staff were friendly and helpful. The bedrooms are in a separate building which is accessed by your electronic door key. The bedroom was clean and tidy and the bed was very comfortable. The shower was adequate. We weren't that impressed for...

Having read the reviews and seen the pictures, we were expecting something quite frugal or even a cast off from a well known French owned budget chain. How wrong we were! Easy to find at only 10 minutes drive from the tunnel, and walking distance from the centre of Calais. We received a warm welcome from a receptionist who was...

I usually avoid places with fewer than a few stars, just as some of the dodgiest places manage to win over stars somehow..... This place however lived up to the good reviews I saw. The common areas are a little dated - a games room, bar and reception all look a little tired and deserve the single star. The corridors...

I have stayed here many times (unless I'm feeling a bit flush and go to the Meurice)and although the refurb/redecoration was needed, the service from the staff has always been pretty good. I was quite surprised to get a twin room this time as I didn't know they had them. Must be a new thing with them. I also arrived...

Our first impressions of this hotel were met with a gulp! Directly opposite the railway station/canal it's a bit of an eyesore! On checking in we had to wait for France's roughest family to be checked in first and I was pretty much ready to relocate BUT the receptionist was brilliant - really friendly and helpful (she even swapped our...

We have stayed at this hotel several times, the staff are always willing to answer any questions. The rooms have just been recently modernised, in subtle tones, replacing the old yellow and blue, to which we had become accustomed to! The rooms are spotlessly clean and the bed linen and towels are pure white. The buffet breakfast is reasonably priced...
