I booked a week in Punta Negra from August 31st 2006, even after reading several discouraging reviews here, because it seemed to be the closer to what I searched: elegant place on a private sandy beach near Alghero. I found many of the criticisms here exaggerated or unfair, and fair. I would go back but on certain conditions. A review...

We researched the hotels in Alghero and the surrounding area and decided on a two centre trip: 4 nights at Capo Caccio and 4 at Punta Negra - sadly the cancellation policy at the Punta Negra meant that we could not check out and have 7 nights at the Capo Caccio. Punta Negra is a 3* masquerading as a 4*....

The hotel is lovely - light and airy and away from the busy and noisy Alghero. The hotel operates a free bus to Alghero mon - fri which saves you about 30 Euro and it worth it as the restaurants are lovely. The hotel cannot really pass as a 4* though as the rooms although clean and spacious the bathroom...

The Punta Negra is a 4 star which should really be a 3 star. The rooms and the hotel generally could do with refurbishment. There are no lifts and no provision for the less mobile. The situation is great but there are three flights of steps to the beach, which is not mentioned in the brochure. The hotel staff are...

I stayed at Punta Negra with a friend between 9-11 June 2006. We are both busy mothers so we chose a place where we could unwind. We arrived on the Ryanair flight in the morning and after a short taxi ride(20 Euros) we were at the hotel. The reception staff were very welcoming and immediately went to check if the...

We booked this hotel via internet and had looked carefully at all the reviews first as we do like to experience quality; sadly it did not live up to to its four star grading, did very little to justify its high prices and generally did not deliver to our expectations. Whether it was because we went before the start of...

A group of friends (both male and female) and I go to Alghero every May to have a get away from it all break. We sit by the pool, drink beer, tell stories, knock back Marguarita cocktails, play cards and generally have a great time. This hotel was a bit out of the way, but for those who want to...

We stayed here in the last week of September 2005. The hotel has an excellent seafront location with lovely views over to the town of Alghero. Nice pool area & private beach, plenty of sunloungers in both. Seaview room is definitely worth the extra money. We stayed Bed & Breakfast - the breakfasts were only basic continental; but the pastries...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The hotel has recently been renovated, and now boasts beautiful, pastel-coloured, light green and pink, stucco walls to match the decorative pink ceramic floor tiles. The same colours have been used to blend in with the tablecloths and furniture. Inside the rooms, the doors and furniture are green, red and natural wood. The curtains and drapery are decorated with traditional Sardinian designs. The Punta Negra Hotel looks out directly onto the sea front. The low level, typically Mediterranean architecture featuring spacious terraces, blends well into the beautiful natural surroundings. As you cast your eyes over the sandy white beach surrounded by high cliffs, you will undoubtedly be overcome by a wealth of emotions. In the background you can admire the wondrous gulf with the view over the harbour and the historical centre of the charming, colourful Catalan town of Alghero. Service on the beach, weather conditions permitting, will be ensured from the 15th of June to the 15th of September. The Punta Negra Hotel is a three-storey coastal building. The ground floor is divided into two parts: one wing is given over to a spacious lounge, a snack bar a, restaurant and the kitchen, whilst the second wing contains bedrooms. The first and the second floors are devoted entirely to bedrooms, half of which have balconies overlooking the sea, and the other half of which face onto a beautiful pine forest. The hotel has a total of ninety-two rooms and a Suite all equipped with air conditioning, mini bar, colour TV and en-suite bathroom. ... more   less
