The staff is very kindly. Room was very large, large garden and magnificent swimming pools. The beakfast is very complete with a large selection of products. The terrace is very pleasant for dining or having a drink.
I was a little worried at first, this is such a big hotel and we had been staying at smaller ones during our 5 week touring holiday of Germany. I thought that the service and food could not possibly be as good as the smaller guest houses and that it would be a bit “manic” but was proven wrong. Our room was very nice, clean and the most comfortable bed we had the whole holiday, nice pillows and air conditioning that actually blew out cool air and worked!! The shower was amazing. We found the internet to be very good. There are different elevators and the room at first was not easy to find. We opted for a 3 day package of 5 course meal. Each night a different starter, soup and salad (no choice but always very good), choice of main course, usually meat, fish or vegetarian and choice of 2 desserts. You are given the same table each evening. There are several different dining rooms all with an individual feel and all very nice. The wine list was extensive to say the least, we opted for local German wines which were all very good. Liked the fact that each course was served with a decent gap in between so you were not rushed. For two of the nights we had a young waiter, think his name was Maximilian, he was put on our table as his English was the best of all the staff and we were the only English speaking guests they had had in a while. The service he gave us was very polished and we really felt well looked after. The breakfast was served in several different rooms but with a buffet area in each room so never far to go. They had an area were you could get fresh cooked eggs or omelettes which was a nice touch. Everything you would expect on the buffet and everything replenished promptly. Got to say the only thing I did not like, for me, was the coffee and I could not seam to make a decent cup of tea even though they had English breakfast. The other thing was that they did not seam to have hand sanitiser in all the rooms, sharing serving utensils is never good at the best of times, they had plastic gloves that you could use although most guest did not use them, I would strongly suggest that you do, for your safety, we are still living in Covid times even though we are all vaccinated. No the hotel is not near the lake but the lake is huge and you still have to drive to the different areas if you want to do everything. The hotel provides a good base for most things and at a good price. Ample parking both outside and indoor garage. There are swimming pools and spas which we did not use. There are two bars which can be easily missed downstairs in the basement, both with a different vibe and very good efficient service and good prices for the drinks. Really can not fault the service, everyone so very friendly at this hotel even the lovely guys making the omelettes at breakfast, the staff worked really hard to make sure everything ran like clockwork. Would definitely recommend and would definitely return if ever in the area.…
Room was large. Staff very friendly. Parking outside just besides. Breakfast with wide selection. Very comfortable feeling. The landscape is beautiful. It's an excellent place to enjoy natural life near the lake.
Our European vacation was interrupted by a medical emergency, which necessitated my husband spending 4 days in the nearby hospital in Friedrichshafen. (He has recovered completely, fortunately!) I was fortunate to find a single room available in the Krone, and found the hotel to be a peaceful, supportive place with a caring staff, all of which helped me to cope with the new situation as it unfolded. My room was well equipped, very clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was like a banquet for this weary traveler!
We stayed here for a few days whilst touring the area. The room was OK but almost every item in the room had a price tag. Internet access in the room was impossible only available on the stairs !! The breakfast was good and offered a wide choice. The indoor pool is only around 15 m long but was empty. Lots of parking spaces but it is a long way from the lake. The restaurant food was not very good. The hamburger was meat coloured and rubbery and a real disgrace . Other menu items were only average with no flair or good presentation. Reception staff were quite unhelpful and there is no secure storage for bags left in the hotel . We were instructed to leave them in a corner of reception! An average hotel which needs to improve its offerings.
I have stayed at the Krone many times, and my experience is always the same - it is an exceptional hotel! The rooms are extremely clean and nice, particularly in the Silber Distal building, but all of the rooms are very nice. The hotel reflects the diligence of the Herr and Frau Ruess, the owners.
business room was great, albeit a bit loud at night (there was a wedding on that weekend, so I'm not complaining). clean, modern, comfy bed, baby & kids beds present and in the right place, bathrobes and slippers, free wifi, free teddy bears for the kids (what more, seriously, can you ask for). slightly in the middle of nowhere, with a (closed) hairdresser next to the hotel, some kind of pub opposite, a bakery (closed) around the corner and a supermarket five minutes by car. great pool, with an indoor pool bar! sauna, massage, turkish bath, children's play room, an aquarium with nemo, marlin AND dorie, really, almost the perfect holiday venue. bit awkward to walk from the pool through the lobby back to the room (past the wedding party, piano music and all) wearing bathrobes carrying a crying child. I'm sure there must be a different way to get to the lift but we couldn't find it. staff was excellent both in the hotel and in the restaurant. on the children's menu, which was a little colouring book, they actually had free food for the smallest ones! I don't think I've actually seen anything like that before in an à la carte restaurant. food was great, though admittedly quite salty (even though I like salty), from the pepper sauce to the vegetables. we wondered whether the cook was in love (and again, the place was packed due to the wedding). bowling alley looked great fun (packed too), and I think there were a total of three different bars - actually got lost in the halls once when I got out of the lift a floor lower than expected. they have their own distillery and didn't charge us for the milk for the kids. breakfast was more like one of those sunday brunches at expensive airport hotels that cost a fortune and are competely packed with rich tourists; eggs in all variations, salmon, weisswürstl, a diverse cheese and sausage selection, fresh fruit, cappucinos and a children's breakfast buffet, complete with crayons etc. with a little playground round the corner. again, breakfast hall packed due to the wedding, but no shortage of anything. free water, mints or schnaps at checkout. kiddie kart at entrance to the huge parking area. overall, great overnight stay, will gladly come back.…
We stayed two nights. The hotel is located in Schnetzenhausen, about 5 km NW of downtown Friederichshafen. Schnetzenhausen is mainly a residential area, so do not expect to find restaurants and shops there. The hotel offers free and ample parking, and if you prefer, it is possible to go to Friederichshafen by bus every 30 minutes. The hotel has about 135 rooms in different categories. Excellent and friendly staff at the front desk made us feel very welcome. Our room was a spacious and clean business room with a/c, safe, and comfy beds. Only thing we missed was the possibility to make a cup of coffee. The hotel offers a large wellness area and several activities including in- and outdoor pools. Everything of a very high quality. Our package included breakfast and dinner, entrance to the Dornier museum, a walking guide, a bottle of homemade schnapps and much more, and we were very satisfied with this. Especially the dinner was extraordinary with great food and perfect service. Breakfast was good too with several hot and cold choices including fruit and excellent coffee. The Ruess family has been running this hotel for several years and we would definitely be happy to come back.…
I really enjoyed my stay in this wonderful hotel. The room with the slanted roof was beautiful and very comfortable. The breakfast was a real treat and all the staff was extremely, kind, helpful and friendly. I also really liked the spa and the swimming pools. The bike rental service is excellent.
Has everything you would expect from a nice classical german hotel. Pool, spa etc. different types of restaurants and good service, good size room, clean w a little bit extra. Friendly and helpful staff.
