We come every autumn to Meersburg and never fail to eat in the cosy dining room of the Gasthof zum Baren. This year we ate here twice, with favourite dishes of Schnitzel, farmers' omelette, Rinder- and Schweinegeschnetzeltes. The side salads are the best we have ever had - great variety and with such a tasty dressing. The atmosphere is very...

We stumbled into lovely Meersburg, Germany, without knowing how delightful it'd be, and found this small hotel right in the car-free center of town. We enjoyed our room above the cobbled street, the breakfasts (included), and the town's location on Lake Constance. Meersburg is accessible by public transportation: Take a train to Konstanz (easy from Zurich), then catch the bus...

We spent a few days driving down the Deutsche Alpenstrasse on our way from Vienna to Burgundy and Alsace. What a great decision to stay in Meersburg rather than Konstanz. Meersburg is a charming old town built on the side of the hill overlooking the lake. In the centre of the old town there is a charming old building overlooking...

I can't fault this hotel. The owner and chef, Michael, was a wonderful host and second generation owner, given the fact how busy he is he always had time to talk to us. The building has so much history and at the same time is clean and welcoming. The bedroom wasn't huge, but very comfortable, and as with all the...

Personnel very friendly and helpful, and above all Innkeeper Michael Gilowski, who has a wealth of knowledge about Meersburg and local history. Greqt location as well. And prices are low. Having decided to revisit Konstanz after a 35 year abscence I looked around for a good hotel/B&B in the locality Gasthof Zum Baren seemed to fit the bill on all counts. Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner (Michael)who was very pleasant and extremely helpful We had reserved parking ahead of arrival with the Hotel and despite the rain...

We were traveling with 2 other couples through Switzerland and Germany and this was one of our favorite places. I walked into the pedestrian only zone to find out where to park and was met at the front desk but a lovely woman who spoke little English but was so helpful. She came out, moved the post so we could...

The rooms are charmingly plain and simple, clean, and a good size. The price is right; the location absolutely the best. Additional pluses: the chef/owner is a delight, and will insure a happy stay. The restaurant is great, amazing food and very reasonable pricing. And the town of Meersburg is fairy tale pretty.

This hotel is really just average but the location is wonderful and worth the stay. Clean, good breakfast but not much decoration on the walls. Room was a bit on the small side but was quiet and very clean.

We loved our recent stay in this wonderful hotel in this pretty little town. The owner, Michael, is very friendly and helpful, suggesting many things to do and see. He went out of his way to assist us on many occasions and was a great help with our luggage and parking. The tower room we had was very spacious and...
