I wish we had been able to spend more time in Lindau. The Hotel Alte Schule was the perfect stay for our one evening in town. The owner Mark was so accommodating to our every request, and so friendly and informative. Breakfast was delicious and Mark prepared our eggs just the way we like them. It was like staying in the home of a good friend. The hotel itself has a family charm yet also is so new and modern. It is beautiful! The room and bathroom were well appointed and we could not have asked for more. WHEN we return to Lindau, we absolutely will stay here again. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this to one and all !
An excellently run hotel. We were greeted by a very lovely lady and she went the extra mile to advise and help us. The room and the bathroom were both very tasteful and extremely spacious. Excellent breakfast in a delightful dining room. Fabulous location, very close to all amenities. Would definitely stay again.
On a solo motorcycle trip, I found this hotel on my way to friends in the Tirol. I received such a friendly welcome. The building is beautifully presented and I was shown to a single room which was hard to believe, as it was so spacious and well appointed. The owners are caring and interested in their guests. They really deserve to do well. I hope to return.
Hotel Alte Schule is a new (2 year old) hotel that feels it has only just opened. Large rooms with a large bathroom and great roomy shower. Everything spotlessly clean and bright and comfortable beds. Best rooms I have ever had the pleasure of staying in, better than 4 & 5 star hotels I have paid top dollar for in New York & Paris and many other large cities of Europe. The owners are most welcoming and friendly and as one of them was born in Lindau, they have lots of first- hand knowledge of all things in the area. I regret that our schedule only allowed us a one -night stay, but this hotel is perfect for at least a couple of days if your travels take you to this region. Lindau island is a very attractive spot with a beautiful harbour front, a perfect place for a relaxing few days and the Hotel Alte Schule is the place for your stay.…
Our family of four stayed here for the night during our two week trip through Bavaria. The suite was spacious and comfortable. It was the only place we stayed that actually had air conditioning (although we didn't need it). The bathroom was modern and well-appointed. The beds were comfortable. The husband and wife who run this hotel were very kind, warm, and hospitable. Our check-in and check-out were easy. We had a delicious breakfast at the hotel, including made-to-order eggs. The owners were very helpful and accommodating, especially with helping us find a place to eat dinner when most of the restaurants on the island were fully-booked. We absolutely loved our stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Lindau.
A nice young couple own and operate the hotel. They greet you warmly and ensure you enjoy your stay and trip. They helped with transportation and dinner recommendations. Provided items to borrow I forgot or lost. Their hotel is charming - everything feels clean and new and up to date. The breakfast is amazing with fresh squeezed orange juice and eggs cooked to order. The hotel location is perfect as you can walk quickly to restaurants - shops - and train station. Lindau Island is beautiful and the Hotel is as well.
A great new addition to the Lindau hotels. Gabriele welcomed us with super energy and showed us to our wonderful suite. She and her husband have performed a miracle converting this old schoolhouse to a modern and luxurious hotel.
Easy to find, not far from the road bridge onto the island, this hotel is delightful. An old building which is completely up to date, but still retains heaps of character. Lovely decoration and state of the art luxury items. We were in Room 11: a double bed and and double sofa bed (probably left as a lounge when not used as a bed) so probably classed as a suite. Spotlessly clean and very modern amenities, including a combined toilet/bidet, Italian shower and a large Loewes TV in each area. On the 2nd floor, immediately off the lift area, with a charming view of roof tops and terraces but not overlooked. The hosts are charming and do what they can to ensure your stay is enjoyable (including checking how you want the cooked eggs/bacon for breakfast). Breakfast is well worth the little extra on top of the price, and includes a full continental buffet as well as the cooked component. My husband assures me the coffee was excellent. Everywhere in Lindau is a short walk away. Turning left from the hotel and walking in a straight line will take you past the shopping area and straight to the yacht club, next to the lively harbour area. Please note that although you can park outside to drop off and pick up luggage, the nearest parking is around 200m away in a public carpark: however this is not expensive.…
I bike the Bodensee from time to time. I like just getting on my bike and going with no pre determined stopping place. I arrived in Lindau and loved the town. After visiting many places to find a room to stay, Alte Schule was one of the only places that had rooms. Very affordable. Not to mention they spoke English, washed my cloths for free and had a fantastic breakfast. It was located just enough on the outskirts to be affordable but a 2 min walk into town. They had a place for my bike and were super helpful. Most of all...... did I mention affordable? The rooms were unbelievable for the price......better yet, they were unbelievable for the price. Their theme rooms were a nice touch. I recommend this place for couples, families, and biking vagabonds like myself.
Hosts Marc and Gabriele have done a fantastic job creating a modern and comfortable hotel within the 700 year old building. The rooms were spotlessly clean with excellent fittings and furnishings. It's in a great location and was a very quiet and peaceful retreat to return to after the trade fair I was attending. Excellent breakfast as well - the fresh orange juicer was very welcome. Very highly recommended!
