We had a wonderful stay here. The grounds are stunning and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. We stayed over night for a wedding and it was all beautiful. The breakfast was basic but sufficient and the staff refilled everything regularly. I can’t fault this place. I would highly recommend.

Dear Management at Orsett Hotel, Re: Full Refund/and Compensation request I am writing this short email to request a full refund/ and Compensation after our (my partner and I) stay at your hotel arriving on 18th October 2021. For my partner's 50th Birthday surprise (as can be seen from the attached Expedia booking made well in advanced on the 29th September 2021), I had booked a two night stay at your "Spa" hotel as a special treat. I deliberately booked this venue at least two weeks in advanced in order for this special occasion to go without any mishaps. Unfortunately, to our surprise on the day, and throughout our stay, we could not have been more disappointed. On arrival, your rather rude reception staff, namely; Megan, informed us that the Spa was closed, and the Restaurant was also not available due to "Maintenance" issues, and that an email was sent to my inbox the same morning at 09:12am. Being a person whom is not confrontational in any way, I asked the lady whether those services would be made available throughout our stay - but she could not offer us any certainty. Under the assumption and intention that our main purpose of this booking was for a "Spa" event, we continued to honour our booking and stay. I did, however, advise the member of staff that I had not read your email sent on the same morning of our departure as we were busy getting ready, enjoying a morning out getting breakfast and lunch, thus, I only became aware of this email when we were checking-in (please check your CCTV cameras as evidence of this conversation). Regardless, and as you can appreciate, informing a customer of such a fundament and Principal change as the "Spa" and "Restaurant" not being made available on the same morning is far to late to have had any chance of re-arranging another "Spa" hotel booking elsewhere. Under the norm, any cancellations (please correct me if I am wrong), at best, generally requires at least a time frame of 24, 48 or even 72 hours prior to attendance. Sending us an email less than 6 hours before check-in, in my view, is simply unacceptable. Ultimately, and to our disappointment, we spent the next two days in a loft-converted room with no "Spa", no "Restaurant" (Dinning), an electrical hairdryer that almost gave my partner an electric shock, and was rudely confronted by one of your members of staff (please refer to the attached photo) informing us that we had to Walk all the way round from the building from which we were staying at to get to the Breakfast dinning area when, to our knowledge later, there was an underground passage way to the main building via the minus-1 floor in our building without having to walk outside and around the entire complex. Photo Files attached: 1. Closed Gate: Which we had to open to walk through from the Spa building to the main building at breakfast. 2. Lady at the Pavilion walk way: Whom rudely waved her hand telling us that we had to walk through past two men working along a busy pathway cover in water towards a closed gate with which we had to struggle to open. I also have a Video of this event. 3. Hair Dryer; with a cable fault causing it to spark, which was not replaced - I also have a Video file recorded of this even. To say the least, the entire occasion was a disaster and my partner's 50th pre-booked "Spa" surprise had left her in tears of frustration. Our opinion when checking out to a member of reception staff called "Andre" was also voiced, but, again, no apology or compensation was offered. As a person whom is not confrontational in any way, my partner and I left your hotel extremely disappointed. With the lack of information from your reception staff, integrity and honesty never seen at any of the other Spa hotel we have previously visited; Muthu Belstead Brook Hotel and Five lakes, my partner's one time 50th Spa occasion had ended in ruin. Apart from the information I have provided above, we were also charged £8.50 for a low quality sandwich with ham and created cheese on simple sliced bread as part of your "room service", was left without Toilet paper (which we had to request, twice), and spent, as advised by your reception staff, to "Check out Lakeside Shopping Centre". All I wanted for my partner was a Two full day break for her 50th celebration at your recommended hotel to enjoy your Spa facilities, lunch and dinner at your restaurant and relax with a few drinks and a good night's sleep, which was also interrupted by Two men screaming and shouting in the early hours of the morning, clearly heard from our room window, in the Pavilion garden grounds working a loud water pumping type of machine. I have refrained from leaving any reviews on Google as I would prefer this incident to be handled professionally directly with yourselves first in the hope that it was a "One Off" and a full refund can be offered. I look forward to receiving your response at the earliest time possible. Yours faithfully, Mr Huseyin Deniz, BSc(Hons), M.Sc, FinstF

Stayed for a night for a function, staffs were helpful, room tidy and a complimentary biscuit and hot chocolate. Breakfast area was clean and tidy, with some good views and greenery. Checking out was easy and straightforward. All in all somewhat a good value for money.

Bed and pillows uncomfortable, room not service due to Covid , breakfast poor. Very disappointing stay, tried to cancel future booking but sure if successful. Lots of events taking place so pretty noisy and not possible to use spa because of some technical issue.

We had been planning this trip for a number of weeks and were really excited to be able to get away to a spa hotel, even if for 1 night. We had planned our day and to start with was lovely, walking around the nearby shopping centre, then stopped for lunch. We were going to be arriving at the hotel around 2pm (1 hour before their advertised check in time), so we could have a drink at the bar and get our bearings etc.. However, i had decided to check my emails when i saw an email from the hotel stating that the spa was in fact closed, including the pool. Disappointing to say the least. But we were already in Essex so thought let's just go. When we arrived, the place looked lovely and we could see they had some events (wedding and gala) happening, so was busy but not so that you felt you had to wait. We were seen in reception and had booked a superior room, they had told us the room was ready, which was great, getting excited to walk about the hotel etc. The receptionist mentioned they had been having issues with the Spa for a few weeks but had shut it down due to health & safety reasons. When we were given the keys to our room, we were told that we had to walk outside of the main hotel (4 mins walk) and were put into rooms above the spa....which happened to be shut! Anyway, the rooms can only be described as something you would see in a budget hotel, we had one skylight window, so had a great view of the grey sky! This was not what we were expecting and were very annoyed! We had expected to stay in Orsett Hall, not in what can be described as a shed! Anyway, after we had calmed down, we got ready for dinner. The food in the main restaurant was lovely and the staff were amazing! After dinner we left to go back to the shed but had not realised that the Gala event would be so loud that even with the skylight shut you could hear all the noise! By 4.45am we eventually got some unbroken sleep (due to the guests being loud waiting for taxis, constant stream of event staff moving things into vans), until 8am when the vans were all pulling up outside creating all sort of noise again for another event! This was NOT the place to relax or unwind, the room, the noise levels and no spa meant that our trip away turned out to be something from Fawlty Towers! On check out we did complain again and they did end up offering 50% refund on the room rate, but if i were you.....think seriously about going here. The staff are amazing but think that this is not the place if you want to relax and being able to rest. It was a huge disappointment and i know that there were a number of guests who also experienced the same as us (16 Oct 21).
