The Waldhaus is the luxury hotel for those who HATE conspicuous wealth. The hotel is family-owned and run since it was founded over 100 years ago, it is the old building with no "new" additions (but carefully modernized). At least some of the rooms and the interior is in the original art deco. The restaurant is a five stars-affair, the...

If you have ever wanted to stay at a great Swiss hotel in the Alps, and had the classic Swiss hotel management by the sixth generation of the original owner, this is the place. Swiss hotel management is like French cusine, when it is great, there is none like it in the modern world. This is not like most great...

Nothing can match the comfort and friendly atmosphere of this place located in one of the most beautiful valleys of the Swiss Alps. Whatever your needs, this is the place to go and comeback to, generation after generation.

I stayed in the Waldhaus in January - my second time. Having visited many of the hotels in the area over the years and stayed in some of them I think the Waldhaus is in a league of its own. The location is peerless, the bedrooms very comfortable and the food is excellent, the bar, the reading rooms and the...

This is a 5 star hotel at its best. The beds are to die for - fluffy white quilts, crisp, clean sheets. Most rooms have gorgeous views - but then in Switzerland, every view is wonderful. The service is attentive and helpful. The location of the hotel is ideal for short or long excursions - you can even take a short...

Though the exchange rate between the Swiss Franc and the U.S. Dollar is favorable only to astute currency traders (and of course, the Swiss), the expense of a few days at the Waldhaus is worth every penny. It's the price of admission, but rather like an intoxicated night in a disco, once you're inside you forget how much you paid...

The Waldhaus is a reminder of another world. It stands for the upper hotel culture of the early 20th century. The family, running the Waldhaus in fourth generation, preserves that spirit, tradition and taste to the present day. This means the direction of a hotel with a genuine character rather than just another polished and soulless 5*. You may miss...

The Waldhaus is an institution. My Fiancee went there 15 years before and she said something not surprising to me : "nothing has changed". Nothing change here, as the Waldhaus is a mature business. A family hotel, classy, old fashioned, with some real charm, a charm belonging to the past. The furniture, the atmosphere, you can't say you are in...

The Waldhaus is a once in a lifetime experience. Situated in the lovely Engadin region, it sits atop a mount in the Sils Maria valley, a spot beloved by Neitzche and Italian designers alike.Regarded as the most beautiful spot in the world, Sils sits between two lakes, and overlooks a plain of hiking trails and a penisula that juts out...

The Waldhaus has the feeling of a sanatorium - a relic of the pre-war era that has seen better days. The furnishings in the lounge are reminiscent of a nursing home. Opulent it is not. The views should be wonderful but are disappointing - it is situated on a high promontory between two lakes in the Engadin Valley but none...
