Having visited Kandersteg for 30 years, I eventually got around to staying in this hotel.. and, very disappointingly, it was not nearly as good as it promised to be. The location and the look of the building was idyllic, but you let yourselves down. Housekeeping / Rooms - Few things... Clutter - There is not a surface to put anything... More

Very special place with a lot of character and charm. The house is an old 18th century chalet. Everything is nice and cosy and we felt very well in the place. As a family of four, we hade the small adjacent chalet for us in a all wood spacious room. Hospitality and welcome were particularly positive. We also appreciated the... More

Beautiful surroundings in a rustic and comfortable setting. Great food and I loved having access to the spa at the hotel across the way. Dinner was delicious and the staff was incredibly friendly. The farmhouse is old enough to feel cozy but well looked after. I would definitely come back and I encourage all those who do to explore the... More

We had dinner here on a Saturday evening and thoroughly enjoyed it because of the stunning beauty of the building. It's out of a storybook and incredibly charming. The staff was lovely, very kind, very efficient, and all-around good service. The food: it's OK. It's not award-winning by any stretch; you'll see basic Swiss staples (rosti with an egg and... More

The Ruedihus is an amazingly well preserved farmhouse from 1573 now converted into a lovely hotel. It is very well preserved, with lots of original features, and attention to detail. The rooms were very spacious, beds comfortable, the place was very quiet, and the staff were polite, courtious and friendly. You also have access to the 4star Doldenhorn hotel with... More

We stayed here for one night in September. We stayed here 15 years ago and fell in love with the place. Its truly unique, a step back in time. This time however, although still absolutely charming, especially the dinning room, we found the rooms a little tired. The carpets and bathrooms could be updated. The breakfast was poor. We sat... My husband and I just traveled throughout Switzerland for a 2 week vacation and this was by far my favorite hotel! We arrived in the afternoon and sat out in front of the lovely 250 year old place to enjoy a nice, traditional meal. Our rooms were in the old section of the hotel, low ceilings, small bathrooms and we... More

The kids were attending the KISC just around the corner from this restaurant and the parents were staying at another smaller family hotel closer to town. We kept walking past this restaurant with the giant WHISK out front and stopped to by enquire about dinner one evening and they gladly made room for our party of 6. Needless to say,... More

We spent a night in this unique old hotel, pieces of it built a 250 years ago. You feel back to the old times if you stay in the hotel rooms or in your bedroom. The beds though are very good and we had a peacful night. Breakfast is good, but a bit poor for the price. At 5 pm... More

Good points: The architecture is beautiful, old "Chalet" swiss style. The rooms are very clean. The nature around is beautiful. Access to swimming pool of a nearby hotel is OK. The points to improve (a lot) are: 1) the breakfast is amazingly poor for a swiss hotel of this category of price (270 CHF/night). 2) The hotel restaurant has quite... More
