It will certainly take some beating. Peter the owner collected us from the station on arrival, sat us down with a drink, got the map out and proceeded to show us all the best areas for walking, where all the cable cars were, bus times etc. The room was a good standard with a balcony looking out to the mountains. The food was very...

As soon as we arrived we were made to feel so welcome. All the staff were so friendly and very helpful. We stayed in room 438 - type flair - It was basic and the bathroom is ready for an...

Simply excellent from start to finish - from the warm welcome at reception by Nico, the Chef as it turned out, to our friendly check out a few days later, by Peter the owner. We've been to Kandersteg lots of times before, but wanted to try a different hotel this time, and were not disappointed. Kandersteg is not a big...

We stayed two nights in a Junior Suite with an incredible view into the mountains, complete with waterfall. All the staff are excellent and clearly strive to make you feel special and comfortable. We traveled with our two dogs and they accommodated us to the point of setting up special tables so we could dine with them under the table...

Once you get past the issue of adequacy of the bedrooms (are they clean, not cramped), the most important thing to me is the staff. Do they make you fell welcome, are they helpful and pleasant? By this measure the Alfa Soleil excels. Peter, the owner, came and got our luggage from the train station when we arrived unexpectedly early....

This hotel is amazing! Beautiful, clean, and extremely accommodating. The family who runs the hotel were so patient and friendly and spent a lot of time going through different hiking paths, giving us information, and just helping us out. The beds are very comfy, the bathrooms are very roomy, and the showers are nice. There is free WiFi throughout the...

Excellent welcome by host (and owners Peter and Agnes) from station, + welcome beer while the options for walking for the week were carefully outlined and the ski lifts and buses explained. Best of all was every evening meal, master-minded by Nico (owners' son) - imaginative and delicious food from local ingredients (including own herb garden, available for inspection), the...

Our stay at the The Alfa Soleil hotel was absolutely amazing. Not only is the hotel situated in the most beautiful alpine village, overlooking a meadow and mountains, but everything about the hotel is great, from the excellent service of all the staff to amazing food everynight and really nice personal touches from Peter and Agnes, their family members and...

Superb hotel in an idyllic setting. Wonderful views of the snow-capped mountains from the balcony of our very comfortable twin room. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, which made for a very convivial atmosphere. Nico's evening meals were amazing. He is a very talented chef using local produce and he pays great attention to detail. This was five...

Stayed for a couple of nights last week and was a great experience. The owners were very friendly and upgraded us to a suite on arrival due to a cancellation. They were very helpful and assisted us with planning what to see and do while we were there, provided lots of maps and public transport timetables. They even gave us...
