Costa Rica is not a cheap destination any more but if you look carefully it is still possible to find decent accommodations. This is not a posh place but down to earth, basic, clean and comfortable. And the biggest draw is Alex and his frogs and birds. Right from the first e-mail I got a good vibe from Alex Martinez,...

We arrived during the night in a thunderstorm exhausted so it was great to be greeted with a smiling host who immediately made me, my partner and children feel welcomed. He showed us the beautiful frogs living in the garden, and the sloth high up in the tree. Alex is very amiable and interesting to talk to with a real...

Really enjoyed our 2 nights at this place. The rooms are set in the forested gardens and Alex the owner is always willing to chat and have a laugh, nothing seems too much trouble to him. The resident sloths were "active" while we were there in the trees above the rooms. Frogs, toads and a rich variety of birds inhabit...

What an amazing place to stay. Such beautiful wildlife with birds, special frogs and squirrels, all encouraged by the wonderful Alex. Such a friendly place to stay and chill out. The tree houses are so unique! Alex and his family are lovely hosts and great fun. Just make sure you wear plenty of bug spray and/or use the fans provided...

This place is in a forest and has a resident sloth, frog pond and birds. He took us to see the green macaws. Breakfast is nice and the whole family is very welcoming to...

We have uploaded the map of the posada´s surroundings from their web pages and then were looking for the place for some 45 minutes as - based on their map - it was hard to believe the gate is just on the main road. Apart from that delay, everything was very good in there. The owner was probably busy with...

Except the noisy road beside the entrance, you'll find here hundreds of birds and frogs, a host who knows everything and can help for anything and loves his place, beautiful and big rooms and 2 exceptionnal tree houses. One moves a little (the one with no room below), but great. Great moment there !

Fantastic log cabin accommodation set in a mini rain forest. The host, Alex, is incredibly passionate about conservation and wildlife in general. If you want a memorable place to stay in Sarapiqui, this is it. Some of our best photos of birds and frogs were taken at the lodge. The wildlife is right there in front of you. It's brilliant...

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of an organised tour so didn't get to choose the lodgings. We stayed in the tree house! That was brilliant, the beds had mozzie nets and it had a shower and toilet, and a balcony over looking the forest. Very nice indeed. Alex, our host, was one of the nicest people I've...
