We visited the Boatyard last Saturday to celebrate my wife's birthday. We had not previously booked and as there were seven in the party we thought it might cause a problem about seating. Nothing was further from the truth, we were greeted by the friendly staff who quickly arranged for two tables to be put together. The food was very...

Everything was fine - as far as a business trip was concerned. By far and away the best bit however, was the staff. They went out of their way to look after me - they were attentive, thoughtful and always willing to help. If only every hotel had the same!!!

Hi This Hotel reads that pets are allowed. Unfortunately shortly after booking I had a call from the Manager to say they do not allow pets in accommodation. Very disappointed as it was what I was looking for

Buffet menu 2 served with Cold chips and folk less coleslaw - both uneatable When brought to the attention of the manager, a rude, defensive and dismissive response was received Very expensive buffet considering price person and parts not eatable

Just back from the boatyard inn, went for my husbands birthday never been before. We enjoyed it wasn't really busy but it is November. We had a meal which was lovely, you make look and think bit pricey but you do get loads to eat, well delicious, Now to the room WOW it was lovely and big the bed was...

My wife and I broke up our journey to the Lake District with the recommendation from a friend that we spend the night at this Inn beside the canal. Located conveniently adjoining the motorway system and yet at the same time nestling in some delightful Lancashire countryside, this was the perfect respite from a car journey blighted by a jammed-up...

Good location next to canal. 6 large rooms nicely decorated. Free wifi. Soap dispenser awkwardly located on bathroom wall. Clean on arrival and cleaned for our second night. Well serviced. Comfortable bed. Breakfast no menu - " you can have anything you would like" Toast served on same plate as hot meal so you might get egg or beans on...

We chose The Boatyard for a stop - off on the way home. The images on the web look nice but in reality the rooms are a bit tired looking and quite disappointing. The bed was quite comfortable and the room and ensuite spacious but the wash basin was cracked and chipped and the bath panel hanging off. We ate...

Visited the boatyard on a summer lunch time. Was sceptical about going because the good had been hit and miss over the last 12 months. The food was poor and wasn't cheap so it's a shame but until we hear good recommendations from friends we won't be going again.

Myself and my two parents stayed here for two nights. When we got home we noticed that we had been charged for 8 breakfasts. We were also charged for the tea and coffee in the rooms. I therefore wrote to the owners over two weeks ago asking for an explanation but no response. I would advise anyone to check their...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our canalside location is a winner in the sunshine - sit back and relax with a long, cool drink as you watch the narrowboats float quietly by. And if the weather's not quite so pleasant, we've got loads of room inside with a choice of comfy sofas or dining chairs and tables. With great value food made on-site from locally sourced ingredients, our menu has something for everyone and the quality of our food is superior. Our bar has four beers on hand pump and we've got a great selection of lagers, cider, wines and soft drinks. And there's no rush to drive home after an evening at The Boatyard - why not stay in one of our six recently decorated and well appointed rooms. Then wake up to a hearty breakfast and grab a latte in our coffee shop before leaving. ... more   less
