We stayed here overnight on a brief trip to Grand Riviere. Centrally located, there is ample street parking within a few metres walk. Greeted on arrival with a friendly face and a refreshing rum punch drink, all the staff without exception during our stay were very friendly and cheerful. The rooms are simple but bright and welcoming and equipped with air conditioning. Plenty of hot water for the shower. They do provide dinner in the evening for guests but this does have to be booked in advance. Breakfast consists of yoghurt, bread and fresh fruit with a hot drink and juice which we found quite sufficient. The small town itself is interesting and very authentic, not at all geared to tourism. Local people are all very friendly and there is an attractive church to visit. There is a pleasant sea front good for strolling in the evening and a few hundred meters from the centre of town there is a nice beach with a tropical backdrop.

Quaint and quiet ....... beautiful northern part of Martinique. We enjoyed fantastic hiking, both easy and challenging.Plenty of sunsets and less than 5 minutes to great black sand beach. Don't expect bustling city accesses. That is what we wanted away from.Tante Arlette is a gem.Fantastic food ....really nice rooms ..best bathrooms ever! But don't go with assumption that they speak english. That was a struggle. They need to remove the english speaking sign out front Not true ! Love it here.

Hello, All the team thank you for this very nice comment. The hotel is located in the village of Grand-Rivière. You have walking access to the beach, river, hike, boat ride and walk in the harbor. The village is very quiet indeed. It is a place to relax. We are very happy that you have found what you are looking for. We hope to see you soon,

Amazing venue. Worth going to Grand' Riviere just for the benefit of staying a night there. Cute rooftop spa. Even got a personal greeting from Tante Arlette herself!Nice beach nearby but probably not the best location to climb Mount Pelee although we got all the tips we needed to do the climb from another location.

At the end of the world, up North, down the volcano lies a small town, Grand Rivière, with real local people, and Tante Arlette’s Place is full of surprises... Nice people, beautifull room (we had the bois flotté room), good soft bed and bed linen, jaccuzi on a lovely terrace, excellent food, it was just perfect. When you look from the outside, it seems to be basic, but it really isn’t. Only regret, we had just book for one day and that was much too short ! The surrounding are breathtaking and the road to go there an experience by itself. Our best stay in Martinique

Dear Muryel, Thank you for your comment on Tripadvisor. The Grand-Riviere village is delightful. Our house is a traditional restaurant with a true creole cooker team. Its hide a 10 bedrooms hotel in the other part. Really nice, modern and well equipped. The Jacuzzi is a must ! We will be very pleased to welcome you again for a longer stay. You need 3 days minimum to visit and relax in Grand Rivière. Best regards,

We enjoyed staying with the mythical Tante Arlette, and her charming daughter, in this house built a hundred years ago by Tante Arlette's father. Nice little village in the quiet North of the island, we initially planned this trip to hike the "famous" trail between Grand Rivière & Le Prêcheur, but (knew before we arrived)it is closed; but this should not stop you going, there is the wonderful "La Crabière" walk in Le Lorrain (a nice day trip where you can visit the JM Rhum distillery) and others along the coast. And Grand Rivière itself where you can swim (the sea is lovely and warm) and then just take some time to admire the sunset and watch darkness fall over the sea, it is so peaceful The hotel restaurant is good, and we had the menu of the day in the evening, but you can of course ask for something else. Breakfast was served on the terrace in the morning and was ok. The room was nicely decorated (we were in a new room), the bed comfortable, but we would have preferred to stay in one of the "old" rooms as they have a (shared) terrace overlooking the street. Special mention for the jacuzzi on the roof, that is also a very pleasurable experience especially when it is dark. And second special mention to all the staff who were friendly and efficient

Everything great but the food. When you have such a nice menu at the website and in reality just the choice between two different plates is it a little bit sad... Anyway really good quality at everything. Especialy the rooftop-jacuzzi ;-)

Dear guest, Thank you for sharing your impressions of your stay. For dinner we reduce the menu to offer you a good service. I advise future guests to order the main courses before your arrival. The rooftop jacuzzi is a must that lot of guest love. Hope to see you again in our beautiful village. Sincerely,

We spent three nights at Tante Arlette while we explored the north of the island and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We had a cleverly and attractively decorated room with a great attached shower room. We loved Grand'Riviere, it felt just as it was, the end of the road and the village was also interesting. The hotel, known for its food, certainly lived up to expectations with wonderful main courses, carefully cooked and presented. The only downside was the lack of variety in desserts, we did not want ice cream two nights running! Breakfast was also good. The terrace/lounge area upstairs is a peaceful place to sit and overall we would recommend this as a great place to stay.

My wife and I stayed there for three nights this past January. Our French is extremely limited but the staff did their best and we all managed.Subrina works there and speaks the most English was very helpful. The Matriarch/Owner Arlette is nice and runs a tight ship, very inspiring to see her go off on her daily walk! The hotel rooms are clean and roomy enough, the staff is always cleaning. Hot tub on roof top is a nice touch. The Two days would be enough in this area. There is hiking around and a pool in the river to splash around. The smoothie place by the marina delicious. FlipFlop Restaurant avoid, where we stayed was the best food in the Northern area. Lunchtimes can get busy with buses from cruise ships. If your flight lands after 4:30 I would wait to drive the next day after a long travel day it takes almost two hours to drive from airport and there are very few street lights!!Will be back...

We stayed in this unique little family run hotel for only 1 night, but it was very cozy and we were treated very warmly, despite our inability to speak French! Room was clean, cozy and modern. Dinner was made to order and you got to select which time you wanted your dinner prepared for. The owners, Tante Arlette and Karen, and their staff, especially Subrina, were wonderful hosts and attentive to our every request!
