I stayed at the Surfcastle in early July, and it will definetely be my first choice when going back to Baleal. Besides the location being teh best ever (= overlooking 3 surfspots) the team is there making you feel like you have a home away from home. I traveled alone but met lots of great people and was never bored...

If you are searching for a uncomplicated place to stay for a week or even more to learn or improve your surfing at the atlantic coast, this place is definitely to recommend. Perfect location between the two possible surf spots, and very uncomplicated people as hosts. Don't expect a five star comfort place, but it's not getting cosier than this....

We've spent 4 fantastic days at this place! Joao and his team are incredibly nice, always on the spot and never tired to help. Surcastle itself is a great spot für surfing as you step out of the door and some top worldwide spots are around the corner, you can walk there!!!

This place is the best place I have ever been, the fantastic view over the Atlantic sea is stunning, the staff are polite and friendly, helpful. Relaxing and a place to recover. It was several nice restaurants nearby, not expensive and with really good seafood.

They organise a very cool BBQ every week, which is great. Nevertheless this place seems like a cashing machine. People with money spending there first session of surfing with joy. I asked upfront for a nice room and was told that we will get their most beautiful and biggest room, so I thought it would be worth spending a bit...

I have stayed at surf castle for one week; during mid-season. Outstanding location, right on the beach, with a view on the ocean from the breakfast table, and close to many surf spots. For me, this is one of the big plusses of the place, which can somewhat justify the exaggerated prices. Very relaxing and laid back place and atmosphere,...

Do you like to pay hundred Euro per night for a tiny room without an own bathroom and wardrobe but a huge public parking next to it? Please check in the small house of Surfcastle. In case you are a group of six people it could be nice but still very expensive. To be fair: the Main House is great.

The SurfCastle is unique and the location fantastic. If you are happy to start every day relaxed in a larger group at breakfast and happy to meet people from all over the world who are also attending the surf lessons, this is the right place for you. If you are expecting privacy and your own bathroom then not. Great holidays...

The best thing about the Castle is its position which is pretty much right at the edge of the beach and reef break of Laguide. The managers family still own the house which they have used since the 1920s and it retains much of its character.Surfing in Portugal has not been around that long relatively but it probably started in...
