My boyfriend and I stayed in the garden room and woke up to the most amazing views. The room was cosy, the bathroom amazing with the best shower and they provided an extra heater to ensure we were warm enough. Made to feel welcome and at home, Kath recommended where to go to explore and printed the weather report and... More

What can I say? The hotel, the room, the food but most importantly the staff were all impeccable. Made a very special weekend in our lives all the more special. Would love to go back in the future and I hope they bring back the taster menu too 😉 although the current menu certainly did not disappoint. Thanks again to... More

We hadn't been to Keswick for years and so researched somewhere to stay via TA - and found the Cottage. We stayed for three nights, in the Oak room. This isn't enormous, but is very well decorated and equipped (inc twin/superking bed) and with wonderful view of Skiddaw. The Cottage does describe itself as a restaurant with rooms, but the... My wife and I decided we need a break and found this hotel via Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. Located as the name suggests on a hillside, in a woodland, it is a magical setting. We watched red squirrels playing in the garden and the bird life is incredible. Views between the trees down the valley and to the... More

This hotel certainly knows how to make their visitors feel special. The standard of service, from check in throughout our stay was exemplary. The breakfast, served in the conservatory with a view of Skiddaw, was great - not just run of the mill full English, - but other choices such as smoked salmon on sourdough, and even a 'special of... My husband and I stayed here at the beginning of September, Kath and her team are so welcoming and friendly, nothing was a bother. The food is incredible and you could tell it was fresh and local. The rooms are comfortable and the location is brilliant as you can walk to the forest without having to worry about paying for... More

We have just had a lovely stay at the cottage in the wood, our room was comfortable, the staff expectional, the breakfast and dinner was beautiful and we felt very comfortable and welcome throughout. Would stay there again :)

We stayed in the mountain view room for a couple of nights for my partners 40th birthday. The room itself is well decorated in a modern style. The facilities in the room are reasonable, the bathroom being a little tight, however it is the hospitality which really sets this place apart. From the very first moment we arrived we were... More

We visited in September for our second stay in 3 years. We chose to stay in the garden room again as we absolutely love the privacy it gives you with its private outdoor access. The wet room is stunning & the bed is ridiculously huge & very comfortable. My only critics of the room are that it would be a... More

Found very much by accident, Kath and team at the cottage in the wood made us feel incredibly welcome and comfortable for a slightly soggy few days in the NW lakes. With inexhaustible friendliness and enthusiasm everyone looked after us after returning from our slightly over adventurous hikes. Breakfast was a delight and one of the best I've had for... More
