The above water experience was without parallel: our over water bungalow with full ocean view was restorative, 5 unique restaurants with fresh, sustainable ingredients delicious, and our own cruiser bikes to ride through the jungle on sandy paths delightful. We deeply relaxed and loved how our GEM took excellent care of us, and the warmth and friendliness of the entire staff was inspiring. Diving was a treat: exquisite reefs, excellent dive masters and boat crew, who served us hot tea on the boat after we surfaced elated from our time with Manta Rays, octopus, schools of fish, soft coral, sharks, and spotted eagle rays. We also loved the Shell research and education center where we became better connected with the incredible Indian Ocean environment and the state-of-the-art methods for preservation of its precious creatures. Will return!

Hotel's Favourite
After 6 weeks and over 40 hours of detailed research, we made the best decision on this resort and it FAR EXCEEDED our very high expectations. We are a healthy, active, sporty laid back couple (41 and 37) that travels the world and we had a very specific wishlist for our 2 week honeymoon. If you’re looking for the following for your honeymoon, this is your place….. - a HEALTHY HOUSE REEF with an abundant variety of species, turtles, rays, sharks, schools of reef fish, octopus, brilliant coral. - a resort focused on CONSERVATION & SUSTAINABILITY. They don’t just talk the talk, they take sustainability to a whole new level! They have a dedicated team of marine biologists and conservationists (MUI) on site studying and educating guests during nightly talks as well as influencing the local government to protect sea grass, create sustainable fishing programs with the local fishermen, protecting manta rays, and reducing their dependence on plastic. This is a plastic free resort. Please, if you bring plastic, take it home with you to dispose. - CUSTOMER SERVICE is NEXT LEVEL. I worked at a 5 star resort in MAui when I was younger and I truly know hospitality and customer service. I have never experienced anything like this. Every single staff member we interacted with from the amazing servers that we made friends with to the management team, spa staff, activities staff, groundskeepers, housekeepers, literally every single person who works at this resort is LOVELY, KIND, CARING, HELPFUL, JOYFUL, FRIENDLY, and they go out of their way to make sure every guest is happy in a sincere way. We loved getting to know the staff and hearing their stories of growing up on the islands. -HEALTHY NOURISHING FOOD- much of which is grown on island. The FOOD EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS. We come from Southern California and live a very healthy and active lifestyle. We wanted to make sure that if we were spending 2 weeks on an island, we would not be compromising our diet and nutrition. HEALTHY, FRESH, SUSTAINABLE, LOCAL,FLAVORFUL, and such VARIETY. There is every type of food you could want. THE FOOD WAS A MAJOR HIGHLIGHT. - HOLISTIC & HEALING SPA- wow the spa, our therapists, another highlight. We had at least 5 different treatments/rituals and every single one blew us away and left us resting easier, sleeping heavier, and fully blissed out. - HEALTH/NUTRITION/WELLNESS- we came on this trip in our healthiest states yet and assumed we would be letting go a little and breaking away from our diet & exercise. Instead, we managed to get even healthier!? We didn’t crave alcohol - surprisingly- but instead gravitated to the healing beverages & foods that catered to our individual needs. We did the wellness screening which I highly recommend and learned about our Ayurvedic body type. The resort has a wide selection of pillows to suit your sleep style and can suggest specific foods to help you sleep better. *I’ve never slept better. The entire trip felt more like a wellness retreat than a booze filled honeymoon party. Hahah we loved it! - SURF/DIVE/SNORKEL/YOGA- the list of activities are endless but these were the ones we most wanted to experience and boy was it awesome!!!! Their dive team and LOCAL DIVE SITES are INCREDIBLE! Walls/channels/shallow and deep dives, there is everything you could want with the most KNOWLEDGABLE DIVE STAFF and best of all, SMALL DIVE GROUPS. There is SURF OFF THE BEACH as well as even BETTER SURF JUST A SHORT BOAT RIDE away. The TROPIC SURF TEAM, Erin, Travis & Saief made our surf experiences and despite having surfed for a years, we both learned new tips and skills to take home with us thanks to Erin! Yoga in the pavilion overlooking a gorgeous white sand beach was the best and there are a VARIETY OF YOGA OFFERINGS FOR ALL LEVELS. -BAREFOOT EVERYWHERE/CASUAL RELAXED STYLE- we really wanted to avoid the folks who love to display their wealth. At this resort you won’t find stilettos and ball gowns, this isn’t the place for you if you want a marble bathroom and gold accents, this place isn’t about high end fashion, wearing your best jewelry and no, the room lighting is not strong enough to apply contouring makeup. Every dinner can be attended in a sarong with wet hair and you will not feel out of place. It’s the most laid back, casual, understated luxury you can find! I could write for days about how PERFECT our HONEYMOON was and how grateful we are to every single team member we interacted with that made our trip, but more than anything, Ravah, our GEM perfectly and expertly curated our dream. We will FOREVER be grateful to him for all the dreams he helped make happen with grace, warm ness, kindness and generosity. We will always hold a very special place in our heart for Ravah and hope our paths will cross again soon. Every GEM seems amazing but if you’re lucky to have Ravah I can assure you, you will live a dream. Thank you Six Senses management and special thanks to: Ravah Miriam with Manta Trust Greg with MUI *ask Miri & Greg about their upcoming Antarctica trip!!! Elisa- our dive master with an amazing spirit Erin, Travis, Saief- Tropic Surf Hemat- yoga and wellness screening And a few staff I am sadly not remembering their names but must thank.. The house sommelier - for his knowledge, expertise, passion, and exposure to my new favorite Syrah. The bubbly Sorbet expert who made us giggle and shared stories with us. Do not miss spending time with this sweetheart! The manager, assistant manager, and food & beverage manager that I constantly saw stepping in and helping staff and chatting with guests about their experiences. Your expert and caring style of management comes through the staff. It’s clear the staff feels supported and they love their job! Our two female massage therapists /body work healers who kept us floating and shared invaluable information with us. These were the best massages we have ever had in our lives and left us feeling transformed. Countless staff members at every restaurant and bar that spent time chatting with us and eventually anticipated our needs before we even asked!! THANK YOU!!!!!! We plan to return in a few years!!! Let the countdown begin! - Katiana (Kat) & Jamie

We have just returned from a 2 week stay in Six Senses Laamu and despite the jet lag I’m still buzzing from the experience. Before we went I read loads of the reviews and wondered was this place really as good as people were saying, and I can honestly say yes….and some! This was our first experience of the Maldives and it certainly won’t be the last. The resort and island is superb, the rustic and charming buildings and villas give the impression of simplicity however with all the requirements that you need for a luxurious experience. We took the sustainability tour which was a bit of an eye opener as it demonstrated the enormous work and dedication that goes on behind the scene to ensure that the guests and hosts have the best time. As previous people have commented about how friendly and helpful all the hosts and staff are I can absolutely agree, after 2 weeks of chatting and getting to know the amazing staff I felt really sad to say goodbye as they made our stay on the island so wonderful. There are too many names to mention but they know who they are! Our GEM Hamzath made sure that we were well looked after and put up with our inability to remember to change our do not disturb sign most days! Nothing was too much trouble and his quietly confident approach ensured that we were having the best time. We also used the spa and really enjoyed the complementary workshops as well as the massage, I’m looking forward to using the beautiful coconut oils which will hopefully transport me back to the spa! Food was amazing and such a variety, from fine dining across the swing bridge in Leaf (apologies for the squealing!) , varied theme nights in Longitude and the Chill bar and also the lovely breakfast that we had every day. There were so many other things that made this place special such as the bikes, dolphins in the bay, huge bats, crazy lizards and crabs but most importantly the sea life, we went snorkelling every day, and every day saw different things (use the resort’s snorkelling gear if you don’t want to bring your own). There are regular guided snorkel tours which take you through the reef or the sea grass and great for identifying the amazing fish, turtles etc. but after that it’s so easy to go solo off the Chill bar and explore. The marine biologist are incredibly knowledgeable and we were lucky enough to catch the remnants of a turtle nest excavation and also one lone baby turtle making its first trip to the ocean. For the more energetic there’s a great variety of water sports such as sailing, surfing, canoeing, paddle boarding which I tried for the first time and ok, I’m no expert but it was fun, and falling into the warm sea is no hardship. Getting to and from Six Senses is a seamless process and despite our initial concerns we had nothing to worry about it’s all under control. I could go on and on but I won’t except I would suggest that to get the most out of the place, embrace the ethos and have a go at as much as you can, it’s a truly special holiday and I really hope to return in the not too distant future

We just returned from 10 days in paradise at Six Senses Laamu. The experience was top tier from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The resort is beautiful, both the nature and the accommodation, and is impeccably run. We stayed in a sunset villa, which was over water with a view of the fish even from the loo. The food was among the best we have enjoyed in any holiday destination. It was both delicious and well presented by delightful staff. The activities were plentiful, well designed and smoothly executed. Our favorites were the reef snorkeling and the sunset dolphin cruse on which we got to see a playful pod of spinners. We also appreciated the eco friendly approach and the knowledgeable team of marine biologists (apparently the largest in the Maldives) who educated us on why sharks are not, in fact, dangerous. The highlight of the trip, however, was our GEM Shah, who took great care of us throughout, making excellent suggestions for dinners and activities and checking in on us regularly. He even told us we should reschedule activities due to weather or when he thought we would enjoy something else more. He was right! Hard to find fault with any aspect of this resort and we will certainly be back — every year if we could!

Dear 和也 藤, Sunny greetings from all of us here at Six Senses Laamu. Thank you for sharing your experience with us here at TripAdvisor and rating us five stars. Despite the language challenges, I am glad you could feel that the entire team was kind. Emotional Hospitality is part of our DNA, and empathy is a universal language. The culinary team feels grateful for mentioning the delicious food. Mother Nature has been plentiful in the Maldives, and the natural surrounding is helping to get disconnected and forget about modern life's challenges. 和也 藤, thank you again for your kind and warm words. We are looking forward to welcoming you back. Warm regards, Patrick

We visited Six Senses Laamu for our honeymoon and I honestly cannot think of anything that could have improved our experience. This is the perfect paradise for anyone that appreciates both luxury and sustainability. We loved the bare-foot rustic charm, the amazing food options, the friendliness of every staff member and all the extra touches that made us feel so welcome. I haven’t been to the Maldives before so I have nothing to compare to, but In conversation with other guests, several of them said that they have previously been to other Maldives resorts but that Six Senses is the only one they will now return to… which I think says it all. I think I would be worried to try anywhere else in case it’s not as good as this beautiful place. There’s a real sense of community/family and respect among the staff team which was really lovely to see. It was clear that everyone loves working there and this was reflected in their work ethic - nothing was too much effort. On arrival you are greeted by key members of the team including your GEM (Guest Experience Manager). Our GEM was Abdulla who was just the loveliest/funniest person. He was sensitive, just the right level of service without out being too much, very attentive and clearly passionate about the island, the marine life and the Six Senses Laamu ethos. Other people that deserve a shout out are Shatabdi (pastry chef), Shirufa (fruit girl), Jewel Rana (ice cream maker and pancake designer), Mahid and Sehan (waiters), Ihaka (head chef), Diwa (chef), Martine & Patrick (General Managers and culture setters), Jerry (Food and Beverage Manager), Tan (sales) and Akul (Sommelier). Actually every single team member deserves a shoutout - they were all fabulous. We snorkled every day - the island has a beautiful house reef as well as an abundance of sea grass which encourages sea turtles. We saw rays (eagle, sting and manta), turtles, reef sharks, an octopus and an abundance of colourful fish. There were moments where I felt like a pampered princess and other moments where I felt like an 11 year riding my bike, bare-footed without a care in the world. We had a sunset ocean villa with a pool (if you’re debating pool or no pool.. the answer is pool!). Our GEM Abdulla also showed us two of the larger (2/3 bed) beach villas which also look gorgeous and would work perfectly if you are going with friends or family. I could go on and on… but in short we are already planning our return trip. Thank you to all at Six Senses Laamu for making our honeymoon so special x

Dear BeckyJoyKennedy, Greetings from the sunny shores of Six Senses Laamu! We are delighted you took the time to review your honeymoon with us. Knowing you had a perfect honeymoon, your kind words fill us with pride. Thank you for being one of the many guests who love the natural barefoot-rustic feeling of the island, from the villas to the small details of the resort. Our villas are designed to enhance the island's natural beauty and provide a profound back-to-nature experience for when you unwind in our little piece of paradise. We also thank you for highlighting our hosts' friendliness. Abdulla, Shatabdi, Shirufa, Rana, Mahid, Sehan, Ihaka, Diwas, Jerry, Tan, Akul, and Marteyne feel grateful for all your kind words about their passion for delivering emotional hospitality. Please know that they are grateful for your kind words for them. I am grateful to read all the chef's names in your review. Eat with Six Senses is one of our core values, and Ihaka, our executive chef, leads a passionate team of culinary diversity. Food is more than nutrition, it nurtures the soul, and we have made sure that the taste is authentic and the ingredients are free of GMO or other flavor enhancers. It is lovely to know that you had beautiful snorkeling experiences and felt like a little child riding the bike barefoot - that is how I feel since being on that island. We are fortunate to be surrounded by beautiful nature, rich marine life, and crystal clear waters; we are glad you had the chance to explore the natural treasures of Six Senses Laamu. BeckyJoyKennedy, once again, thank you very much for sharing your experience with our audience here at TripAdvisor. We hope that we will be able to welcome you back one day. Until then, please stay well. Warm regards, Patrick

When picking a destination for our honeymoon we considered many options. With the guidance of our great travel agent we settled on Six Senses resort on Laamu island in the Maldives. Wedding plans and details for the big day often overshadow the honeymoon, but in this case we were so ready to jet off the day after our wedding, with high expectations and anticipation due to the amazing reviews we had read. Let me just say that everyone of our expectations were met and then some. The island itself and the ethos created by six senses (bare feet luxury) where guests are asked to consider not wearing shoes to any of the facilities, was simply brilliant and genius in its simplicity. Immediately making one feel relaxed and ready for a holiday. The staff were lovely in their welcome and our GEM (guest experience manager) was a guy called Abdulla. A funny, charming and generally cool bloke. He suggested ideas to make our stay more memorable but didn’t push anything in terms of sales. We went for the dolphin cruise and most memorable was the picnic on a private island, where we literally had an island to ourselves for a day, with some fabulous food provided in picnic form (that we were allowed to choose and build to our taste). Now don’t get me wrong, this was pricey, but worth every penny. It isn’t over the top to say it was life changing for us and the memories will be with us forever. The staff on the six senses Island were simply wonderful and we made friends with a lot of them. One fabulous feature is the free homemade ice cream served by the cute and funny Abi. The ice cream is the best I have tasted outside of Italy. Truly amazing. The food across the island was amazing. Themed nights like Asian buffet and Mediterranean buffet etc. but there is also a lovely Japanese’s option with the Zen restaurant (which is currently held in the main dining area while a dedicated restaurant is being built, and also the tree house restaurant Leaf. Which was pretty much fine dining and simply brilliant. The head chef, Ihaka was friendly and informative and of course bloody great! Amazing food in every way. We opted for a water villa with private plunge pool, which overlooked a part of the sea where they are actively cultivating sea grass. Where most other resorts are removing the sea grass to provide a turquoise ocean outside water villas, six senses are helping the local stars (the turtles) and other sea life out by promoting growth. It all goes along with the ethos of feeling connected to the environment and local culture. It worked for us. We were able to snorkel out from our villa and see turtles, sharks and manta rays. The island has an amazing reef surrounding it, which was the best reef i have witnessed. Healthy and colourful coral with millions of fish in every colour imaginable. The transfer to the island involved another short flight (which I will be honest was a bit tiring after such a long journey) but the island, staff and beautiful accommodation made up for it. We had 10 amazing nights there. Made some wonderful new friends and are already planning our return. If you are considering the Maldives for a luxury holiday then I strongly suggest Six Senses Laamu. We are truly thankful to them for making our honeymoon so perfect.

Dear eliot k, A warm hello from all of us here at Six Senses Laamu. Reading your review about your honeymoon stay with us here at Six Senses Laamu was a pleasure. Abdulla, Abi, and Ihaka represent only three of our dedicated teams, but without a doubt, they are superstars. Emotional Hospitality, one of our core values, is reflected perfectly within their guest interaction. Grateful to read about all the experiences you have been able to have while being with us. From simply taking your shoes off and feeling like a child again to being cast away on a private picnic island, experiencing how less we need to be happy - peace, silence, and a person who matters. Mother nature has been gracious with the Maldives. Especially Laamu, with its vast lagoon, a 1.5-kilometer long house reef, and the jungle looking paradise-like. Sustainability is nothing we talk about. Yet, sustainability is who we are. Protecting the environment, we are operating in is part of our DNA. Seagrass is essential for the lagoon, marine life, and humans, as it saves so much carbon dioxide. Our dedicated team of marine biologists within our latest feature, The SHELL (Sea Hub of Education and Learning at Laamu), shares with all our guests our efforts in presentations, educational tours, or in a more interactive way with Junior Marine Biology programs where field study and classroom go hand in hand. Eat with Six Senses is another core value that you have highlighted. We from Six Senses do not believe that food is only nutrition. Food nurtures the soul, and healthy and tasty options go hand in hand in all five restaurants.
