Travellers' Choice
Tucked between coconut palms and lush tropical gardens, the Frangipani Langkawi Resort & Spa is located by a pristine, white sandy beach overlooking the tranquil Andaman Sea and an archipelago of over 104 islands. The resort remains close to the bustling Cenang Beach, yet retains its natural charm as secluded hideaway as the two beaches lay parted by a cliff, accessible only by road. Over the years, The Frangipani Langkawi Resort & Spa has garnered a number of prestigious awards, including the ASEAN Green Hotel Award 2014, as well as Tripadvisor's Top 25 Relaxation and Spa Hotels for Malaysia.

We stayed there for 2 nights with a big family of 10ppl and 2 toddlers. Quaint beach villas, comfortable and clean with a beautiful unobstructed view of the beach and sea. They have 2 pool (salted and chlorinated). Both the kids and adults enjoyed it. All the staff and especially Peng accommodated to all our needs and always tried their best to make sure we had a pleasant stay. Only drawback was during our stay the cafes and restaurant was not open as they just re0opend after the MCO. But, it was close enough to eateries and cafes that we didn't have a problem. Even their recommendation of where to go, where to visit and eat was spot on and made our stay even better. I can see that Prof Anthony is so passionate about keeping the hotel eco friendly and trying to make a difference. The kids really enjoyed the morning walk to see the farm and sea creatures he next day. Next time we will stay longer.

Great looking hotel. Rooms are clean, floor a bit dusty though. The beach is just a few steps away. The receptionist who did my check in and check out are not so friendly. No idea why. However the hotel staffs (I think they are part timers) who helped carry my luggage are very friendly and helpful.

The location was fantastic, right in the beach. However service was lacking badly. Housekeeping only every 4days, and they charge for everything, even to get clean towels. I know they want to be eco, but sacrificing hygiene along with it

I agonised for ages to decide where to book in Langkawi for the beach section of our Malaysian adventure. I settled on Pantai Tengah rather than the busier neighbouring Centang and I’m glad I did, as it’s definitely less built up and less scruffy around the fringes. There are still plenty of bars and restaurants though and it’s only a short walk from the Frangipani end of the beach to Centang. The Frangipani is set on the beach, in lovely grounds, with rooms divided into either the more typical hotel block at one end, or bungalows scattered throughout. We chose a bungalow, which I was glad about, even though the rooms need a bit of TLC to bring them up to scratch. Our patio door kept sliding off its runners, which was a nuisance. The rooms are clean, they just need to have a few bits and pieces around the edges modernised slightly. It did look as though there was a programme of renovations happening on the bungalows though so this may be in progress. Our room was certainly large, with a dressing area and separate bathroom – even with a private outdoor shower which was lovely to use after a day on the beach. I also liked our little terrace outside the bungalow, especially for sitting on in a morning as the world woke up. We didn’t opt for a seaview bungalow, and unless you plan to spend a lot of time in your room, it probably isn’t worth it. The sea is metres away, we could see it from the side of our patio and we much preferred to go and watch sunset on the beach or at the bar anyway. The property is beachfront, although its sun loungers are not on the beach itself, but at the front of the hotel grounds, which works just as well. There’s also a large swimming area with net to protect against the jellyfish. We saw a couple although it didn’t seem to be too bad when we were there. The two swimming pools are a nice touch, one rectangular saltwater pool and a freeform freshwater pool, both of which we made good use of. There’s also some other amenities including table tennis tables which are fun to use. Breakfast buffets are big but with a cook-to-order station for eggs and roti canai which was lovely, and by far the best part of the breakfast buffet. It’s all set in the open-sided restaurant looking over the beach – not many better spots for a breakfast. And the beach bar is also perfectly located in front of the hotel and an idea place for mid-afternoon refreshments or sundowners before dinner. There are plenty of restaurants within easy walking distance of the Frangipani and we didn’t eat dinner there so can’t comment of the quality of dining experience. It’s not the most luxurious resort along these two beaches in Langkawi, but it is definitely a lovely place to base yourself for a few days, whether it’s R&R or exploring the island that you’re looking for. The combination of beachfront access, coupled with the fact it’s spread out over a large area means it never felt busy or crowded, and the resort has everything you could ask for for a beach holiday stay.

We stayed at Frangipani for a long-term stay (two months and a half). It is the most hospitable, greenest, eco-friendly, and beautiful place we ever experienced. "YES" is the answer to anything you ask. For example, just mentioning fishing to the general manager Mr. Henry, his fishing tool was sent to me in less than 15 minutes and remained with me until the day I checked out. The staff is genuinely friendly and generous in which making our stay a pleasant one was their ultimate goal. Frangipani has immediate access to the beach and pool with an astonishing view. Watching the sunset is the most romantic thing ever. Sitting in the sun and walking by the beach is a daily routine of all guests. We would visit the place again the soonest we can, and for sure will never forget this lovely experience.
