We took over as new owners in October 2018. Our new chef has launched a new menu, but our beautiful, peaceful rural setting and the warm welcome you can expect have not changed. Our remote rural setting means our telephone connection is unreliable, so if you can't get through then please email us and we will call back as soon as we can. The Trewern Arms near Newport is a picturesque 16th century Inn with 10 recently refurbished ensuite bedrooms, situated on the banks of the River Nevern. It is the perfect base to explore the Pembrokeshire National Park. Whether its seeing Carningli & the beautiful Preseli Mountains or walking the breathtaking coastal path. The hotel boasts a lovely riverside restaurant, the Wheelhouse bar, and Twmpath function room, where you can find some of the best quality produce Pembrokeshire has to offer, we try to use local suppliers where possible some of which are based in Cardigan, Fishguard & Newport. Free WI-FI throughout for all our guests.

We stayed for two nights, and had a great time. Angie and James and the team were brilliant, warm and friendly and made us and our dog very welcome. We ate and drank there both nights and really enjoyed the breakfasts and the evening menu. We loved the atmosphere in the bar and

We visited last week, that weird bit between Christmas and New year, hungover and in need of a burger! We both had starters, I thought my garlic mushrooms were so tasty! We then both had burgers, my partner said his beef burger was very nice. I had the Halloumi burger, which

That week is weird isn't it? We never quite know what to do with ourselves and the kids during that time, but a walk in the countryside followed by a decent pint by our fire usually hits the spot. Thanks for your kind comments and your observations about our halloumi burger - we are currently reviewing our menu so your suggestions are timely - look out for an updated menu in the coming weeks.

Hi Rachael. I'm really sorry that we didn't meet your expectations this time, especially as I sensed all was not well from the moment you came in and so took the extra time to look after you personally; if this was unwelcome then I misjudged this time and I apologise. Because you hadn't booked a table we would usually have seated you in our comfortable and informal bar area or, as you particularly wanted to sit in our slightly more formal riverside restaurant, asked you to enjoy a drink by our fire while we laid a table for you. I noticed you had a little one in tow so I offered to seat you immediately and lay around you, which at the time you said you'd prefer. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy our crusty ciabatta style rolls which we serve with our burgers - if you'd prefer a softer roll such as we serve with the children's burger then we'd be glad to accommodate, likewise with any other problems or preferences. I'm sorry we didn't make you feel comfortable enough to raise any of these problems with me when I visited your table during your meal - I admit our restaurant is somewhat different to the popular Hungry Horse chain of pubs which we know you enjoy. Nevertheless, we will look into your complaints so that we don't disappoint either our future customers, or you if you change your mind and come back to give us another chance. I must make particular reference to your comment about the pink chicken burger, which should not have been pink inside and which we have investigated thoroughly. In your case, as always, the chef cooked the chicken fillet to order, diligently checking the temperature (using temperature probes), sliced the meat and checked the colour before it was sent out. Our best guess is that the pink colour came from the mixture of spices that the chicken is coated with and which includes red paprika. You told us all was fine during and after your meal and you ate everything, which has limited our ability to investigate, so please contact me directly so I can look into this further. My name is James and I am one of the owners of the restaurant. You can phone me or leave a message on 01239 820395. Please also contact me directly if you do decide to come again so we can make special efforts to ensure your comfort.

Thank you for your kind review. Unfortunately we can't take credit for our picturesque setting (we owe that to the Preseli hills, the river and the beautiful Welsh countryside), but we're glad that you enjoyed our food and our rooms. We hope to welcome you back again soon.

Peaceful rural location we stayed three nights with our dog. Breakfast was lovely, really friendly family took over in October, nothing was too much trouble. They even let us use there field behind the pub for the dog to run in. Perfect hosts. Will definitely stay there again.
