I personally do not recommend the Island Time Villas hotel in George Town- Exuma, Bahamas. I made a 100% cancellable reservation on booking.com and the hotel kept 22 dollars for the currency exchange; since I made my reservation in euros. Fact that is totally false, since then they should have paid me more money. The hotel did not want to return the full money that I paid for the reservation, it is very disappointing.

This place and the room were better than I expected! We had huge baggage troubles and a canceled flight and this hotel was so great at helping us call the airline etc We wish we had longer here! Staff were all extremely friendly and helpful I have zero complaints.

We stayed in April for 4 nights in double villa. We had a lovely sea view from the balcony and our room. The villas are very clean, cozy and decorated in bahamian unique style. There is a private beach with loudges, free canoes, pool and clean, quitet sandy beach. Thisis how Bahamian holidays should look like! Just 5 min away there is Jolly beach- nobody there, clean and you feel like you are on a private island! The only disadvantage is no shop nearby and you need to walk to the expensive market about 3km. There is a Splash reustaurant which is generally good but with a bit too high prices and dont match with the quality which is served. Overall, I would come again and come back!! Excellent !

My boyfriend and I took our first of many trips to Exuma. The ocean view villa was wonderful. It was spacious with 1 bedroom, 2 full bathrooms, well equipped kitchen, and ample closet space. The balcony was nice but wished it was private. The villa is located across the street from the beach and is a easy 3 minute walk to crystal clear waters. Island Time Villas is located about 20 minutes from the airport and a nice 25 minute walk to Georgetown. The Fish Fry is also within walking distance, about 10 minutes. The grounds are nice and well maintained with multiple fruit trees. The beach is nice and clean but not too much frontage. It’s shallow which was fine for this non swimmer, but I found that to be true of most beaches I went to. Paddle boards and kayaks are available for use on the beach (included in your stay). Beach chairs are enough and thatched umbrellas are almost always available. The staff are very friendly and they even went out of their way to pull off a birthday surprise for me. Annette and Mikey (female) at the front desk are very attentive. Anita at Splash Bar is great. Jude and Gasner and the rest of the staff make you feel like family. I can’t stop talking about my experience at Island Time. My coworkers are so excited, they can’t wait to book. I’ll definitely be returning. The island itself is beautiful and the locals are super friendly. We hitchhiked to town one day and and went out to a party and karaoke another night with a local. It’s super safe and ok for solo travelers. Hands down best vacation ever. Thanks again Island Time, my Bday card is on my dresser reminding me of how wonderful you really are. Lots of love, Ken & Barbie (Kerry)

We stayed here for one night before transferring over to Sandals Emerald Bay. I wish we had booked our whole vacation here! Our room was immaculately clean (cleaner than Sandals) and the bed was comfortable. It was nicely decorated with great bedding. We had a king size bed with a kitchenette and dining area. Our porch had a table and chairs and view of the ocean. Staff was friendly and courteous and went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. We had dinner at the on-site restuarant, Splash, and everything was great. I had the best fish tacos I've ever had. While we weren't there long enough to use them, they had a nice, but small, pool and beautiful beach. I also liked that they offered cell phones for use and a shuttle service into Georgetown, neither of which were offered at Sandals. We loved Great Exuma and can't wait to go back. We will definitely rebook here.

Fabulous location on Exuma!! Good value for the price. The rooms were spacious and had everything needed for a stay. Kitchen was very basic in regard to cooking utensils etc but fine. Clean and very good beach amenities. Gave this a Very Good rating due to the location and beach.

Had a 1 bedroom 2 bath villa. Looks like an old converted apartment with a full kitchen. Great view of the ocean (even though you're not right on the beach). thought for the $$ this was a great value. You're in the bahamas, I'd definitely stay here again. However, I'd avoid Splash for any meal besides breakfast. They have a good breakfast sandwich, but it was easily the worst food we had on the island. Walk over to latitudes, or down to Shirley's for dinner.

It's centrally located on the island, and only a couple of minutes to the Fish Fry area. And a few more minutes to Georgetown. Villa/Condo is across the street from the Hideways, about a 2 minute or less walk to the beach. The Villas and the Hideways are owned by the same family. The room was a little dated but clean. We had a 1 bedroom. unit 213. It would be nice if they didn't use quite so much bleach/ammonia, it's a bit pungent. It's nice to have a small kitchen but if you plan on cooking every night, you would need a few more cooking pans and things, not really well equipped. There is a coffee maker, microwave and a nice size freezer/ refrigerator. But the staff is very nice and would probably find anything that you would need. We were there for 3 nights and ate out every night. FYI -The King bed is like 2 mattresses pushed together on a single base It was nice having a restaurant on property. Also, the free kayaks and paddleboards were great. Free Internet was available in the lobby and the pool.

Wife and I spent a week here as part of our 25 yr wedding anniversary. Paradise is probably the best word to use. The villa itself was very comfortable and well equipped. Only a 90 second walk across a quiet road to the main hotel. The hotel itself was clean and well equipped. A nice swimming pool but we didn’t use it...who would with that awesome beach? Splash bar and grill was great! Really good wholesome food, brilliant range of drinks. Hotel staff were great, really friendly and seemed really keen to help. The shuttle bus to Georgetown really does work well. There is a beautiful private beach with all the facilities you would expect. We visited during the quieter off season, so not sure if it would be much busier at other times. Would highly recommend.

When I asked my mother what she might like to do for her 60th Birthday she eventually settled on the idea of seeing the swimming pigs. At the time she had no idea where in the world they were, but I did, 4300 miles away in the Bahamas! Nonetheless I was not put off by the idea and thought for once she deserved to be made to feel special, so I made it happen. Getting there from the UK is not easy. I broke the itinerary up to allow time between flights and we enjoyed a three day trip to New York and an overnight in Atlanta before arriving in Great Exuma on Monday 15th of January. We took a taxi from the tiny airport and arrived around fifteen minutes later. The taxi was thirty dollars. My booking confirmation advised check in was at Hideaways, which is the main hotel on the sea-side of the road and Island Time Villas is located across the road. At first we could not have our room as it was not ready. No time scales were set and my mother was very happy to sit outside people watching, but eventually it was suggested we might want to wait in the Splash bar, which we did. This gave me the opportunity to explore and take photos. I was just as excited as my mother just to say we were here let alone see the swimming pigs. I will review the Splash bar separately. Its a great addition to Hideaways. At around 3:30pm we were told our room was ready and their courtesy bus actually drove us over the road. We were offered every assistance to get to our room which was a kindness we Brits don't normally expect. There were a number of steps around the complex I was not aware of, and my mother's mobility isn't the best, so it was a little daunting, but she managed admirably, however one handrail came off in her hand meaning she did fall up some steps, though no injuries it was a little shock. The staff couldn't have apologised more, it was fixed in minutes and accidents can happen. We are not litigious by nature. We were given a semi-detached bungalow, No.226 called Anejo Palm. It was actually the furthest room from the main complex, quietly tucked in the corner surrounded by greenery and a neighbouring residential villa. Our bungalow had an outside deck facing over the complex and a tiny glimpse of the sea through the foliage. We also had a much larger screened decked area to the side which was furnished with table and chairs, just like the front deck. The screened area could be accessed from one of the bedrooms and the front deck. Access to the bungalow was through a key card. Once inside we found a massive open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area. Air conditioning was already running. The villa smelled very clean, no eye watering musty smell, but if there was, this is a highly humid environment. I have noticed this when travelling in Mexico and the Dominican Republic. We had ceiling fans in the lounge and both bedrooms. Both bedrooms had king size beds, flat screen TV, wardrobe (one had electronic safety deposit box), full iron and board, air conditioning unit and their own en-suite bathrooms with full bath. Both rooms were a similar good size with plenty of additional draw storage and power outlets. I found my bed very comfortable and the bedding was good quality. It was very peaceful and quiet, but the island in general is very peaceful. The kitchen was a very good size and equipped to cater for at least six. We had a full size American sized stove and fridge/freezer. Like beasts compared to our UK versions. Coffee, sugar, sweetener and whitener was provided in small complimentary packages to start you off. Our freezer had a filled ice tray ready for our use. Once you use them, fill with water and freeze. Otherwise you could go to the market in Georgetown and buy a bag of ice, no real hardship. Everything you could need for a restful few days was provided as far as I am concerned and to parrot a phrase I used in my New York hotel review. Us Brits generally speaking are used to just making do, and aren't as used to a service centric experience. One of the best things about staying at Island Time Villas was the fact we had use of all of the facilities of Hideaways across the road. We even had Hideaways wrist bands and towel cards. Some water sports like kayaking were included. The beach was beautiful, there were not a vast number of loungers, but hardly anyone used the beach so that was not an issue. Hideaways has a small pool and sunbathing area as well as a quiet lounge and Internet access away from the Splash bar. A courtesy bus operated several times a day into Georgetown, which had a market for groceries, a few shops and a couple of places to eat. Don't expect too much, it's quite spread out but not much of anything. Nice to go and wander around all the same. At night the courtesy bus does not run so a taxi will cost ten dollars. It is literally a ten minute ride away. Along the way you will pass a couple of neighbouring hotels with their own food options and then the fish fry. These are all easily walkable, though there isn't much of a pavement. Even Georgetown is walkable if you are fit and able. I really wanted to try the Fish Fry, it looked good fun and very Bahamian, but my mother did not have a sense for that adventure. The main reason for visiting Great Exuma was to see the swimming pigs and it was on the long drive to the north of the island I really got a feel for the place, passing many of the options for accommodation I had seen prior to settling on Island Time Villas and realising I had struck gold. All of the staff we encountered were pleasant, friendly and informative. It was fun to take the courtesy bus back to the hotel from Georgetown and pick up the drivers adorable young son from school on the way, these are things you just don't see in artificial purpose built resorts. In my mind it is rustic, has no pretentions, no attitude, it was a relaxed easy going place where you could sit around in beachwear all day, even in the bar at night. It left me wanting to return, and I hope one day I will. To sum it up in one word. Fantastic!
