On our way to Hergest Croft we thought we'd try this pub. What a find. Delicious, inventive food. Every course fabulous. Waitress efficient, attentive and friendly. I haven't been offered such interesting vegetarian food in a non vegetarian restaurant. Wild garlic soup with Welsh rarebit, followed by cauliflower 3 ways (so full of flavour and surprise). Hubby had confit duck...

We stopped in for lunch on our way home from holiday with our daughter and dog. It was the most delicious lunch, the steak in my sandwich was cooked to perfection and the nibbles were absolutely to die for! Sadly we were too full for pudding so we will have to have a return visit for a dinner and night...

Ate here yesterday whilst staying in the area. Lovey quaint pub - fairly busy and it was Easter so expected it to be, we sat in the back room which was fine. Very good service, plenty of staff and all very attentive. Excellent 3 course Sunday dinner - good choice, although struggled to eat it all!! Would eat here again...

The Stagg kindly fitted us in (four people) without a booking. The food was good but not outstanding. Very well presented fish and chips for all. The chips were really fine. BUT the day before we had lunched at the Cider Barn in Pembridge, where the chips were utterly 'historic'. We have eaten at the Stagg several times in recent...

Group of 7 booked in a couple of weeks in advance. Fixed price Sunday lunch menu provided three courses and ample choice for all. Food was excellent and portions generous. Service great and our special bottle of wine opened for sensible corkage charge. Lovely old pub and deserving of its reputation. Helped us with a a walk map to work...

First came here in 1998 when these proprietors first arrived and we've been coming here for special occasions ever since. They never disappoint and we were more impressed than ever on this visit. It is quite our favourite dinning venue.

Our group of 12 was treated royally during our lunchtime visit. Pre prandial drinks outdoors in the sunshine, a break between mains and dessert for a little more sunshine. Attentive, friendly and engaging service from all the team. The food was well priced and without fault.

We used to be frequent diners at The Stagg, but a few years ago we had a meal that wasn't very good and so we stayed away. It was our anniversary and we decided to give the Stagg another chance. Sad to say the experience didn't inspire us at all. The service was average. My draught beer was much too...

Went there for a birthday meal last saturday with friends, wonderful food, absolutely delicious and good portion sizes, only downfall was when we came to pay the bill and we asked to pay separately the head waitress (older lady with glasses ) was quite rude and made us feel as if we were causing a great inconvenience, when all we...
