Spectacular grounds reveal a modest whitewashed building which apparently became one of Queen Victoria's home. whose interior is luxurious, comfortable and very stylish. The wall opposite the modest reception desk is lined with photos of famous guests and the one thing they must have had in common is a desire for peace and quiet and an appreciation of fine food.... Having read the truly marmite reviews for the food at Ynyshir I was almost put off booking - to me there's nothing worse than spending money and going hungry. But it was a pretty last minute booking and as they had a dog friendly room for our Rhodesian Ridgeback (let's face it - it isn't easy to find places to... More

Surprise birthday outing - and within an hour of our home. Great welcome, a good walk around the reserve next door and then a perfect time of relaxation in our room. Classically furnished - and then.....a spa bathroom like something from another planet. Crazy fun mirror, spa bath, subtle tiling and underfloor heating. Perfect after a long walk. Down for... More

We have had lunch or dinner at Ynyshir Hall on several occasions now and every time the experience is a delight. From start to finish a feast for the eyes and the tastebuds. Granted, you'll not have a plateful of steak and chips here, portions may be on the (very) small side, but every mouthful is a treat, perfectly cooked,... More

We came here for one night at the end of a weeks touring holiday & were immediately impressed by the pretty & well kept setting. On check in we were greeted a Burmese mountain dog who was something of a gentle giant but a bit of a surprise. We were given a guided tour by a personable male receptionist who... More

A fantastic location. A lovely room (noise from the kitchen below not withstanding). But dinner was a massive disappointment. A choice of tasting menus means that you are forced into the position of admiring the skill of the chefs and the quality of the ingredients. Dry ice, bales of hay, compressed air, blow torches - your table will be a... More

We found this retreat in the same way that someone might find a large fresh piece of chocolate cake in the fridge that they didn't know was there, at about 9 o'clock a night - with glee and great delight. Not for everyone though. There is nothing budget here or needed here. This is an experience, a treat, a change... More

We enjoyed a three night stay - Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights in the last week of September 2015 amid perfect weather, 19c by day, no cloud, 6c by night with no precipitation. We drove everywhere with the roof down - "dry Wales" is normally an oxymoron, but not this week! Booking - Anand (sp?) was brilliant on the 'phone.... More

A lovely peaceful location in Mid Wales. On arrival greeted with a very warm and friendly welcome. The property is homely, cosy and has a very warm décor and atmosphere. The Chagall suite which we chose came up to our expectations. The Dinner was a touch disappointing. The courses were rather on the minute side, although very tasty it must... More

Ynyshir Hall is a smart hotel, located in a beautiful setting surrounded by stunning Welsh scenery. The bedrooms are beautifully appointed, comfortable and clean. My husband and I decided to forgo lunch in expectation of a fabulous dinner at Ynyshir Hall. This was a mistake. The only menu offerings were two types of “tasting” menus, which consisted of incredibly small... More
