We decided to return to the Alverton after visiting family in Cornwall and to bring back memories of our wedding there 6 years ago. It remains a wonderful venue and with the addition of the Courtyard accommodation the historic atmosphere and quality of furnishings led to a wonderful, comfortable stay. From our arrival at reception to dinner in the restaurant we enjoyed every moment. Thank you to all staff for their friendly, professional approach to working at the Alverton. Highly Recommended!

My wife booked the cheapest room £99 for B&B as well as a small cream tea. The website warned us that the room might be in a noisier area of the hotel. Well- everything was pretty much perfect. The welcome couldn’t have been warmer- we even received a call to our room from reception to ask us if everything was ok. It was more than ok- it was fantastic. Beautifully decorated, well furnished, bed was large and comfortable and we had a view of the side garden of the hotel. The bathroom looked as though it had just been revamped- complete with monsoon shower. There was no noise at all. We had the ‘mini’ cream tea which was more than enough. Although we didn’t have dinner at the hotel, we popped into the bar for an evening drink. Again, the welcome was warm and there was an excellent choice of some locally produced drinks as well as all the usual favourites. The fire competed the country house feel, albeit just a few minutes walk from the centre of Truro. After a peaceful night’s sleep, we enjoyed a beautifully cooked breakfast. The initial welcome was warm and helpful although the staff members seemed to change half way through our breakfast- or we simply had a couple of different servers- who weren’t as good as the first ‘team’. Sorry. Overall, a complete bargain of a last minute break. High quality and fab value.

Dear Phillip L, Thank you for your superb review of your 'pretty much perfect' stay. I'm pleased you took advantage of the fantastic offer and liked the classic double room. We have just finished refurbishing every bathroom in the hotel so I'm it's great to hear how much you liked it. The bar team will be delighted to hear your lovely words regarding your experience and I'm pleased you had an enjoyable time tasting the local produce by the crackling fire in the lounge. The kitchen brigade will be thrilled to hear after a peaceful nights sleep you had a beautifully coked breakfast. I will pass on your feedback to the restaurant supervisor regarding the service and we look forward to welcoming you again. Best wishes Larissa Guest Relations Manager

We love coming back to the Alverton! Unique in architecture, setting and atmosphere. Helpful, friendly staff, comfortable rooms, great food and a pre-dinner cocktail in the bar a must. It's a short walk into the City with many unusual, independent shops as well as the usual chains. A great base for exploring Cornwall too.

Lovely hotel a short walk from the main shopping centre so very convenient. We were welcomed by a lovely friendly receptionist and our room was available early. We booked a garden room which was up in the eves. Beautiful, very spacious quirky room overlooking the courtyard. There was a comfy sofa in the room which was an unexpected bonus. The bathroom was large with a bath and separate walk-in shower. We booked a bed, breakfast and dinner so were eating at the hotel. I had mentioned when booking that it was our 40th anniversary however this wasn’t picked up on. Not sure what I expected but maybe an acknowledgment. We ordered olives as an aperitif so we’re a little disappointed when our starters arrived almost at the same time. Slightly worried, I requested a gap between starter and main. Food was nice and the dining room was lovely and festive. We ordered ice cream for desert which was fine but I expected slightly better. Just two scoops and two tiny shortbread biscuits the same as the ones in the room. One waiter tried to remove my food while I was still eating. The service was a little poor but currently times are difficult. However breakfast was very nice, the ladies serving were amazing and service was excellent. All in all a lovely stay and we hope to return.

Dear Thamesbabe, Thank you for your review and feedback. I'm pleased you had a warm welcome and were able to check-in earlier than expected. It's great that you liked your room and the large, nicely furnished bathroom. The team will be thrilled to hear how much you enjoyed your dinner and it's wonderful you liked the festive atmosphere in the dining room. I'm sorry that your 40th anniversary wasn't picked up on and of course, had we noted this, it would have been acknowledged. We look forward to welcoming you again. Best wishes Larissa Guest Relations Manager
