Stayed in room 3. Room was great, recently redecorated with a claw tub in the center of the room. Very comfortable bed with nice linens. Exposed wood beams and hugh ceilings added old school pub charm to the updated, redesigned space. Dinner was surprisingly nice... I had the special duck starter and the wife had the scallops special. Both were...

Went there for our works Christmas dinner. Good selection on the menu (pre-order only) but well prepared and served. Staff were pleasant and attentive, Would happily go back again except its a bit out of our normal hunting ground! Can't comment on the hotel questions at the foot of this standard format of Tripadviser.

Having visited the Wellington for several evening meals, we thought we would try a Sunday lunch. But what a mistake! Dreadfully slow service, undercooked vegetables, cold dessert (crumble) and a service approach bordering on arrogance with no attempt to correct the problem or deal with our complaint properly. Staffing was chaotic with no idea of who was in charge of...

We have been here several times and enjoy the laid back surroundings of this old building. There are different styles of meals from slimming to full fat and l feel that there is a lot of choice to cater for your needs. The Sunday lunch is also very good too. Service with a smile and good qulaity food.

Went for lunch with some friends. Good selection of specials as well as a two or three course chef's menu. Food was lovely although service was a bit erratic-starters came quite quickly and then a long wait for mains. Great pity you cannot book tables unless your party is 8 or more.

I went here on my Birthday for breakfast as it was recommended to me. For an English breakfast without drink or toast it is nearly £10. We arrived just after 8 and they seemed shocked to have customers, to the point we offered to leave and come back. When my breakfast arrived the bacon was like cardboard, the top of...

We go to the Welly quite often and have never been disappointed. The menu is varied with a good selection of specials every day. The atmosphere is really friendly, all the staff are knowledgeable about the dishes on offer. You can't book but we have always got a table, which means you can just decide on the day and turn...

We were spending a day at the Big Cat Sanctuary and chose the Wellington mainly due to location and we prefer small hotels. When shown our room, it appeared impressive, with plenty of space and very nicely decorated. However, although it appeared “made-up,” we were very shocked to discover obvious signs that it had not been cleaned after the previous...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Six bedrooms, each one slightly different, complement the Wellington's award-winning food and service. In keeping with the spirit of a building dating from 1352, we have kept and restored as many of the original features as possible, so you will encounter oak beams, cedar pine floors as well as antique furniture throughout the building. Some rooms even have an open fireplace or a four-poster bed... Each room has also been updated to offer you all the luxuries of contemporary living with plate glass, crisp bed linen and feather-down duvet on hand-sprung mattresses, monsoon showers or deep free-standing slipper baths, free WiFi, flat screen TV and a personal iPod dock/iPhone charger in your room. ... more   less
