We had a great time during our stay in this special location. A lovely family and other great traveller made our stay unique and really special. We got an awesome breakfast and the best experience was a workshop where we could rost our own coffe and chocolate. We would highly recommend staying at the Yellow River when you are in... More

I visited Yellow River after I had visited Machu Picchu and it was definitely the highlight of my visit to Peru. The room was simple but comfortable, the breakfast and dinner were lavish and I enjoyed getting to know the family. The coffee and chocolate workshops were highlights of my visit there. Also, given my love of coffee, I really... More

Svetlana and family were amazing hosts, lovely people overall, and made us feel very at home. We stayed 3 nights (too short), and were treated to the best food of our trip (we are still talking about it 3 weeks later), amazing experiences at la chakra, cacao and cooking classes, and of course- just relaxing on a hammock.

Brilliant...I'm so pleased you had a good time. I always love seeing people in the hammocks...it means they are having a proper holiday. Thanks for taking the time to write something, we really appreciate it and it is one of the only ways people get to know what we're about. More

Yellow River was by far the best place we stayed in Peru. Svetlana and her family welcome you into their home and provide the most wonderful accommodations. The home-cooked meals are excellent, the coffee is some of the best, and the space is so relaxing and nice. We stayed three nights and spent one of our days at Macchu Pichu... More

We would have to say the same about our guests. We feel so lucky to have consistently attracted the nicest people to our little home. We have had the privilege to receive people like yourself and share some lovely stories; our home is simple and for those who want to see something a bit different, so we tend to get... More

I stayed for two nights, and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The family were so welcoming and I learned so many things that I never would have known. I was taken to their farm where I learnt about their coffee and ate fruit straight from tree. I also enjoyed walking along the many trails through the beautiful cloud forest. Great home-cooked... Fruit straight from the tree was what made me happy while we lived in this lovely little corner of Peru and it is what I miss the most now that Tatiana and I are back in the UK. Svetlana is keeping the family business alive and is an amazing cook so we know our guests are in good hands so... More

My review is long overdue but like everyone else mentions, we also had an incredible 4 day stay at Yellow River. It was a beautiful stay because of the gracious hearts of Svetlana and Tatiana. We loved meeting all of the Santillan family and having long conversations during dinner and getting to know the history of the town and the... More

You're very kind. I agree that the conversations around the dinner table are epic at times....we have spent many a late night speaking about local events and oddities. It's a lovely way to share our experiences with others and we get to hear about theirs and their countries. Although Tatiana and I are now in the UK, Svetlana is doing... More

A welcome break from the highly touristed Cusco and Sacred Valley. Staying here was a highlight of my trip to Peru. The vibe is casual and homey. Atmosphere is light tropical jungle. Eat fruits, wander on trails, harvest and process coffee and cacao (DO IT!), and relax doing nothing. The home-cooked meals are excellent and table conversation is always nourishing.... More

Thanks so much for your comments. It's always frustrating for us when things like the hot water fail. Being so remote it sometimes makes it hard to get things fixed quickly or find replacement gas bottles. Normally we get it right but on the few occasions it has not been possible to fix our guests have been so wonderful and... More

We had a 3 night stay in June 2016 at the beginning of our trip through Peru and Bolivia, and it was a perfect start. Getting there from Cusco was very easy thanks to the detailed information on their homepage. Unfortunately we did not get to know Andrew because of his trip back to England. But Svetlana (and of course... More

I cannot begin to tell you what an amazing experience we had here. I went with my girlfriend and her husband in early May.
