Just spent two nights at this little hotel for bed and breakfast. After reading the reviews we were a bit aprehensive about what to expect. And have to say first impressions not that good - really needs decorating throughout and room not at all like...More
Very clean, well appointed. Very helpful staff and owners. Close to center but away from most of the loud pubs. Jacuzzi bath in our room was very welcome after we completed the Skipton Triathlon. There is parking but the access is tight if you have...More
Super friendly owners, quirky, small hotel. Clean and comfortable, not so much boutique and some areas could be improved. Lovely breakfast. Busy and noisey bar underneath the hotel, so be warned! Good enough for the price we paid.
My husband and I decided to go to Skipton for an over night stay, to relax and chill. We found a late deal for this hotel. The people who own it are very welcoming. The room was perfect for what we wanted. The bed was...More

Dear Thanks for staying in and for the story line.
Can anyone tell what would receptionist or a manager do when guest turn up fully drunk? could not understand what is being asked at reception. The person is asking that would you like to pay from the same card given as we only pre authorize the card . We only charge guest on their arrival. Instead of listening guest would keep repeating oh don't worry ! don't worry we are paying from other card. After explaining a while that your money has been blocked with given card , if guest not in the state to stand still coz of too much alcohol consumption and don't understand that the person is trying to explain that we have to inform the bank to release money and it will be on Monday now . then what the receptionist , manager or even owner of the business can do?
Alright! fare enough . We have been given another card and charged from that card on arrival. Every organisation have their own policies. Yes we do charge on arrival we only ask guest but sometimes they say that will pay later or in the morning after breakfast. So we do not have any issue with that.
Not even that can someone imagine when guest's partner goes out after staying 5 minutes in the room then lady guest fully drunk comes down warped up only in a towel to find him and abusing to receptionist . Using F and B words and asking where is him and banging the doors saying I will break this glass door and this window . Get him inside now for me. What could staff do?
OK Parking is a private car park of landlord . Nothing to do with hotel.
Finally we serve breakfast from 8.30 till 10 AM and we mention that at check in time. what would be the situation and solution if guest turns up 10:55 and saying I need a drink ? Do not even answer good morning or use please excuse words . How staff would know which drink ? as they were aware of last night's incidence and might thought guest is asking for alcohol again and said bar is closed. In answer to that guest starts using F words again.
At the check out time guest do not leave the key at reception and walk out . A member of staff run behind them to ask for key then guest literally through the key and did not even say sorry or thanks.
Then after few hours guest calls up and tells that you have charged us twice. Staff explains that we have already mention that we will request our bank on Monday now to release that payment as its weekend today. Guest gets upsets and staff had to say that sorry you were drunk and did not listen to us. Anyways money has been released and sent out in guest's account on Tuesday.
This is the truth and actual scene whatever had happen. I would not bother or write this big explanation if there was a genuine complaint.
Thanks for everyone who share their views as everyone should see both sides of the picture

Thanks ever so much dear Tony for staying with us and sharing your experience. See I have recognized you as you have said I wouldn't be . you and your sweet lady stayed in room 6.
I have never thought to post the answers but One of our guest has suggested me to post the answers so I can at least clarify some unnecessary points.
For Everyone : - It is a listed building of 300 yrs old. Such things we can not change in it. we have taken this business few months back only and refurbishing and decorating the place . It could take some time . work is going on . We are earning and spending. We do mention to our guest on arrival that we are new owners and doing our best as we are here to run and make this business success. Of course we have to make our guests happy by providing them good facilities.
Thanks tony hope to see you again sometime.
