From arrival, we liked the look of The Throckmorton. The staff were friendly and attentive and we were checked in and in our room in no time. We booked our evening meal as suggested, as it does get quite busy on an evening. Rooms are very nice with ironing board, hair dryer, tea and coffees tray and a VERY comfy bed. If anything, the shower cubicle could have been a little larger (but I am 6' 4"). Great seating areas out back when the sun is out. Overall a lovely base for exploring, bus stops outside the Throckmorton and not far to Alcester, Stratford-upon-Avon etc. We would definitely stop again 😊
Once again we have had a great 5 night break. We keep returning because we like the very friendly, helpful and efficient team that run the Throckmorton, they are a credit to the owners. Also the food is excellent too.
We only stayed one night, but we we’re very impressed with the room that we had and it’s furnishing and especially liked the fan that kept us cool. The room was No 10. The evening meal was lovely as was the breakfast. Would definitely stay again.
Friendly and welcoming ... rooms comfortable, well decorated , really well sound proofed . Outside decking area really well thought out. Evening meals excellent, and my scrambled eggs and haddock for breakfast was a delight to the eyes and to the tum! All friends enjoyed their stay and we would all return here if in that part of England.
We stopped here just for the 1 night on a biking holiday. We contacted ahead and they let us keep the bikes in the pub overnight for safe keeping. Staff were all really friendly and we really enjoyed our stay. The bedroom was good, clean and comfortable. The food was the best bit I think, although the outdoor dining area looked so nice, in summer it would be a great atmosphere. For food I had the luxury fish pie and it was beautiful!!! Such good quality. For pudding the mousse was amazing, I loved how they offered smaller portions of the puds and wished we'd gone for them as we had eyes bigger than our bellies! Breakfast was delicious too, all hot stuff made fresh to order. Would definitely recommend to stop over and for food.
This was the second time we'd stayed at the Throckmorton. It's in a lovely spot, with a particularly pleasant decking area and al fresco dining area to the rear with an open aspect across fields. The interior is also a pleasant place to spend time. The food is outstanding; it's not cheap, but not expensive either, but the quality means it is good value. The accommodation is fine and very clean. The staff are really exceptional. They are clearly a tight team, and many have been there several years, which isn't that common in hospitality. There is a strong impression that the management really look after the staff, and the staff hold the management in high regard. Coughton Court is within walking distance and is itself exceptional, and the town of Alcester has its own charm. Taken together, all of the above make the Throckmorton one of those rare places that is more than the sum of its parts. We will certainly be returning.…
Caughton Court having no official dining, it was a relief to find such a good restaurant nearby. The whole book procedure was excellent as was the service by a waitress called Kirsty. The menu was just what we needed and the meal very well prepared - especially the "pink" beef. [The restautant needs is own review criteria - this is for rooms.]
Lovely stay with my friend at The Throckmorton. Both rooms were spotless, beds were very comfortable, and all the staff were most helpful and friendly. Good choice of breakfast dishes, all of which were perfectly cooked. The only downside for me was the road noise. As I am a very light sleeper, every night I slept badly due to continual traffic throughout the night, but appreciate the Throckmorton can do nothing about this. I had Room 4 so would suggest you avoid this room if lack of sleep is a problem. My friend had Room 7 which she said was very quiet. I would definitely stay again if in the area but in a quieter room..
Fabulous stay. Warm friendly welcolm and staff excellent throughout. Room small but had a Fabulous view of the countryside. We ate there all 3 nights and food lovely but would have liked a more extensive menu. Had the fish special on Friday at £10 each the fish was wonderful and we are used to good fish coming from Cleethorpes. Had drinks on the patio early evening in the glorious sunshine overlooking the countryside. Would definitely stay again
