Widbrook Grange offers an eclectic and charming atmosphere that many guests appreciate, set in a prime location for exploring the local area. While the hotel's cleanliness and quirky decor earn rave reviews, some travelers feel that the value is diminished by high food and drink prices and advertised deals that don't meet expectations. Service quality varies, with some instances of slow responses during peak times. Although the rooms are generally spacious and the gardens are comfortable, reviewers have called out maintenance issues and a need for better upkeep in certain areas.

We have just 2 wonderful nights at Widbrook Grange to celebrate my 60th birthday via a Secret Escape deal. The hotel is warm, cosy and friendly with excellent staff and rooms. We were welcomed by Amelie who was both efficient and so friendly (every hotel needs an Amelie). Our room, room 4 was spacious, super clean and comfy, just the job on a dull January day. The room was equipped with an excellent choice of tea and coffee with a milk bottle which can be filled with fresh milk at reception. The gin bar was great with Atilla behind the bar to advise on great gin mixes. I, unlike my husband am not a gin drinker, but have now been converted thanks to Atilla’s advice. I indulged in a massage which was amazing, Germaine comes to the hotel and gives the treatment in your room, she was lovely. Dinner was fabulous as was breakfast and all staff were so helpful about things to do and visit in the surrounding area. There is also a swimming pool and gym on site.
All in all we had a wonderful time and would definitely return.
Thank you Widbrook Grange.

Booked a one night dinner bed and breakfast deal via off peak luxury. This being just after Covid lockdown was relaxed.

We had great weather and enjoyed a pleasant stroll along the canal into Bradford on Avon taking say 30 minutes each way.

There is ample parking and nice gardens to sit out when it is sunny. Our welcome was good and we were settled in quickly. We did have some covid adjustments such as Track and trace forms to complete and sanitizer was available in key spots. Having a welcomed gin in the bar was also good.

The room was very good, I believe we were upgraded to the seamstress room. It was clean and very comfortable. Not sure about a bath in the bedroom (not for us) but the shower room was great.

The evening meal was well cooked and presented served by a masked waiter. The breakfast was also nice. What wasn't so good was the look and feel of the dining room. It felt more like a country cafe than the sort of restaurant that goes with the building. The carpet and furniture did not fit. Checking out was slow, hung around for ages until the receptionist appeared. Thus I didn't go for 5 stars.

Dear David, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. It is a joy to learn that you had a pleasant stay with us in the summer. Ensuring our guests have a variety of areas in the hotel to relax and unwind is essential, so we are delighted that you enjoyed a sunny afternoon in our gardens. We are so pleased our friendly staff were so welcoming and that you felt at ease with the Covid measures we had in place. The safety of our guests and staff is extremely important to us. We are disappointed that your check out wasn’t as smooth as anticipated, or as efficient as we would have hoped. However, during these strange times, we do ask that guests remain patient with us as we are trying our best with limited staff to maintain guest satisfaction. We hope to see you again for another stay soon! Best wishes,

Stayed here for 1 night dinner, bed and breakfast . The check in process was efficient and the lady on reception was warm and professional and showed me around the hotel and facilities and then to my room……….I’d booked a cosy double so was surprised to be taken to Room 4 the Seamstresses’ room………..Wow. ( I’d been given a complimentary upgrade……never been upgraded in my life before!)
The room was beautiful, quirkily dressed, massive bed, roll top bath in the room, ( as well as a double shower in the bathroom),complimentary tea, biscuits and hot chocolate and real coffee with a cafetière, toiletries in the bathroom and an iron and ironing board discreetly stored away.
The pool changing rooms were clean and the pool itself a nice temperature. I did notice that some of the tiles around the pool could do with a bit of a scrub, but hey I had the pool to myself!
I spent the rest of the afternoon exploring the grounds and reading my book in the garden. There are plenty of places to tuck yourself away and sit peacefully, I was lucky with the weather but I noticed there are comfortable seating areas inside the hotel in case the weather isn’t kind to you.
A credit of £35 was included in the rate and can be used for dinner, drinks etc, there is plenty of choice from the dinner menu as well as the gin bar, which I didn’t get to sample…….maybe next time?
The bed was very comfortable, I didn’t experience any noise at night and slept really well. Breakfast offered a good choice and was plentiful.
Warm, professional staff, a beautiful room, good choice of food and drink, a pool and peaceful grounds, I would definitely return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend staying here. Time didn’t really allow me to explore the surrounding area as I was travelling to a wedding, but it is somewhere I would like to explore and would stay at Widbrook Grange to do so.

We stopped here for my Birthday and I honestly couldn't fault our stop. There were plenty of hand sanitisers around the place and all staff wore masks. We observed everything being wiped down methodically, so felt quite safe. The staff were extremely friendly, the food was excellent and the location was great. Rooms are spacious and well equipped with quirky touches, making it unique. We used the pool, you have to book an hour slot and then have the pool to yourself, which worked well with us.The only thing we noticed were the gardens needed a bit of tlc, this may have been due to the shutdown through Covid. The gardens would be a lovely feature if tidied up a bit.

I was at Widbrook Grange for 2 nights. The staff were lovely, welcoming and extremely helpful. The breakfasts are terrific! and include a groovy Kilner jar of creamy yoghurt with fruit compote to enjoy before a locally sourced cracking full English with delicious coffee...they also do delicious vegetarian options too. The room had the comfiest of beds and a sensible power from the shower! The products provided smelt lovely (for washing) and tasted great ( Teapig teas). I will definitely be back!!

Such a lovely place to stay. Really attentive staff who go out of their way to serve you. They even put our dog’s food in their fridge for us and served it up to him as we got ours.
We thought we would be eating alone in the conservatory as was quiet on arrival but there were quite a few people with dogs there and made some great friends. A lot of comments about this being the best hotel they’ve stayed in for dogs... I agree.
Our bulldog was excited as soon as he arrived. And was sad to leave. As we were as well.
Great facilities as well with the swimming pool.
Thoroughly recommend!

We very much enjoyed our 2 night stay in January, and so did our dog! The dog friendly ( classic) room came with a foodie box for your pet, which also had poo bags and a ball, a dog bed and food bowl. It was a spacious room in the stable block, clean, warm and well furnished.
Huge comfy bed for humans.
Food was lovely, nice evening menu, well presented, good portion size. Comprehensive wine list.
Breakfast was generous, with a sausage provided for dogs.
Gin bar was great - a vast selection with knowledgeable staff and a variety of tonics and accompaniments to make each drink really special! Two nice lounge areas to relax where both dogs and humans can socialise.
Staff are efficient and friendly, and the whole place seems to run very well. Great location for towpath walks into Bradford-on-Avon or a short drive to Bath. So nice to find somewhere where your pet is truly welcomed, rather than just tolerated.

Lovely place, nice restaurant - on the high side for price but the food was good if a little small in portion size. Fabulous gin bar and all the staff are very welcoming & arrentive to human and canine party members!
We enjoyed a very lovely weekend here - set in a lovely location within reach of some beautiful parts of wilts & Somerset
The rooms are well appointed, large very comfy bed and good linens/towels and room amenities not least a little welcome woof box for your four legged friend and a bed for them too....
Dogs are allowed most places in the hotel, the 2 cosy lounges, a dog friendly conservatory and the Gin bar . Basic fitness area and lovely pool also on site.
Would recommend and definitely would go back
We were lucky to meet some lovely people and pooches during our stay

I was lucky enough to spend Christmas at this lovely hotel with my family including my daughters little dog who loved the whole experience from his own special bed, treats, friendly staff and spacious grounds to roam. We were made feel so welcome by the team and felt totally at ease in all areas of the hotel . The lounge and dinning areas are traditionally furnished giving the feel of a country manor but also so homely. The gin bar also stocks a large choice of quality malt whiskeys and interesting rums for those that were not tempted by the very large choice of gins.Food at both dinner and breakfast was delicious accompanied by excellent service.Rooms were warm and spacious with huge comfortable bed great pillows and bedding and an excellent large TV to enjoy our favourite programs. The swimming pool was also enjoyed during the stay.We will definitely be back to unwind again soon. A big thank you to all the team that made Christmas extra special us.

We stayed at the Widbrook Grange for 3 nights (for New Year’s). The staff is very friendly and helpful. The gin bar is great - would highly recommend (many different types of gin and the staff clearly know their stuff). The New Year’s dinner was really good (good wine too). The breakfast could be a bit better (e.g. no fresh juices and lacking in variety). Our room was very nice and comfortable, but TV remote was not working so we had to call reception and we had minor problems with the heating so had to call again and on the second day emopty glasses were not cleared. The response of the staff however was very professional and they solved both matters quickly (it’s just not very pleasant to have to call reception twice about such issues during a 3 night stay). You would expect the rooms would be checked prior to guests’ arrival. All in all we had a very pleasant stay and we hope that management will take our comments on board and make these minor improvements. Our overall rating is 4 stars but would give 5 stars to the staff!
